Unlimited Horror: The Strongest Team Zhongzhou
Chapter 2: Two Old Foxes in the Team
Li Xiao watched the seven people standing together and finally walked over.
He said to Zheng Zha
"Can I join you? Although everything you just said is unbelievable."
"But I am willing to believe it. By the way, my name is Li Xiao, a recent college graduate."
"However, I joined the military during my freshman year and returned to school in my junior year, so apart from my body being a bit out of shape right now, I know how to operate standard firearms and grenades."
"Though, if this is the world of *Alien*, these toys might not be of much use."
Zheng Zha looked Li Xiao over in surprise, then looked at Zhang Jie and said with a smile, "A veteran? Looks like you're not alone anymore, Jie-ge."
He then reached out to Li Xiao: "You are very welcome to join our team. Although we veterans aren't guaranteed to survive either, I promise you that at the very least, we won't abandon our comrades."
Zhang Jie also walked over with a friendly expression, putting an arm around Li Xiao's shoulder and patting him: "Not bad, not bad. The 'God' really opened his eyes this time."
"Even though the headcount is high and the difficulty is great, the quality of the newcomers is significantly better than usual."
"A killer, a mercenary, a high-IQ individual, and a veteran."
Hearing Zhang Jie's words, Zhan Lan and Li Xiaoyi exchanged a smile and nodded in satisfaction.
From the sound of the gunshot earlier to the other newcomers leaving the group on their own, the reactions of these four were arguably much stronger than their own.
Especially with that severed arm still lying not far from them.
Yet, none of these four newcomers frowned or showed fear; that alone already put them a cut above the two of them.
Zhang Jie squeezed Li Xiao's arm: "Little brother, you only retired a year ago, and your physique has already become like this?"
"This is a bit soft."
Li Xiao scratched his head with a naive look and said embarrassedly, "Jie-ge, you know how college life is, heh heh, long live understanding."
After saying this, Li Xiao lowered his eyes. After all, ever since he finished stating his identity as a veteran, Chu Xuan, who was wearing glasses, had already looked at him three times.
Did he discover he was lying? Or did he let something slip just now?
No, that shouldn't be it. Even if Chu Xuan possessed a photographic memory, it was impossible for him to remember the name and face of every college student soldier in the 12th Military District.
As the newcomers finished introducing themselves, the scene fell silent once again.
Zhang Jie let go of Li Xiao, tucked his Desert Eagle into his jacket, and asked the group: "So, now that we all know each other, what next?"
"As you said earlier, do we wait for the plot to unfold, or do we go out and explore?"
"Information!"
As expected, Zhan Lan and Chu Xuan spoke at the same time.
Li Xiao watched as Chu Xuan deferred to Zhan Lan, saying
"You should be the one to say it. My strength lies in analysis; I really don't have much confidence when it comes to planning."
Li Xiao hid behind Zheng Zha, struggling to keep his expression neutral.
In his heart, he was already cursing up a storm.
You even calculated how to drag the 'God' into this plane, and you still claim you can't plan?
That’s like an old lady swearing—no filter at all.
Li Xiao couldn't help but think that this was probably one of Chu Xuan's innate skills: lying through his teeth.
At this moment, Zhan Lan, still unaware of Chu Xuan's true colors, began to act smug with a grin.
He wondered, once this team's psychic awakened later on, would she feel ashamed?
Zhan Lan asked Chu Xuan: "Since you remember so clearly, do you think *Resident Evil 1* is more dangerous, or *Alien 1*?"
Chu Xuan didn't hesitate: "Setting aside the plot holes regarding the timeline, the danger coefficients of the two should be on the same level."
"After all, whether it's an Alien or a Licker, they are both terminal points of biological evolution."
Zhan Lan nodded in agreement: "Exactly. That's why there were only seven of us when we experienced *Resident Evil 1* last time."
"But logically, for a horror movie of equal difficulty, there are fifteen people this time."
"There is only one possibility: the 'God' has changed the difficulty, and a major change at that."
Li Xiao saw Zheng Zha, Zhang Jie, and the others nodding in agreement.
Chu Xuan pushed up his glasses: "Was your last mission *Resident Evil 1*? I see, I understand now."
Zhan Lan continued: "That is why I said we need information."
"We need to know if the plot still exists in this world, and if it does, to what extent has it been modified?"
"Why has the difficulty been increased so much, jumping directly from seven people to fifteen?"
"There are only three ways I can think of for the 'God' to change the plot and increase difficulty. First, increase the number of Aliens. Second, increase the strength of the Aliens. Third, weaken the human side's power."
"The information we need is which one the 'God' chose. Perhaps the worst-case scenario is that the 'God' used all three."
As soon as Zhan Lan said this, everyone's expression changed.
Of course, Li Xiao did so to match the group's mood; otherwise, it would be troublesome to be backstabbed by the two "old foxes" in the team.
The absolute genius Chu Xuan, and the half-captain, half-guide Zhang Jie.
Thinking of the difficulty Zhan Lan mentioned, Li Xiao surreptitiously glanced at Zhang Jie. The others didn't know, but Li Xiao was crystal clear: with a wolf in sheep's clothing mixed in among a flock of sheep, how could the 'God' not increase the difficulty?
Double-A rank psychokinesis, and because he was a guide, it far exceeded standard exchanges, allowing him to perfectly exert 100% of his power.
His other applications of psychic power were a complete set
Eyes of Suggestion, Psychic Scanning, Psychic Connection, Psychic Barrier, Psychic Lash.
The luxury of his skill set almost turned Li Xiao into a green-eyed monster.
Fortunately, this big shot didn't have mind-reading abilities, otherwise, Li Xiao would have met "Father God" on the spot for a friendly chat.
Zheng Zha recovered from Zhan Lan's words
"In that case, let's go explore the merchant ship now. It would be best if we run into a plot mission."
"If we encounter an Alien, according to what you just said, it should still be in its larval stage, so we might be able to kill it directly."
"Regardless, I'll be the one to face it in combat when the time comes."
"If possible, Zhang Jie can support me with his infinite-ammo Desert Eagle. And as long as I use my internal energy, escaping shouldn't be a problem."
Chu Xuan frowned and asked Zhang Jie and Zheng Zha: "Didn't you exchange for any other heavy firepower? Do you have sniper rifles?"
The four veterans exchanged bitter smiles, and Zheng Zha shook his head.
"Only Zhang Jie is a veteran among us, so we don't have any reserves in that regard."
Chu Xuan rubbed his head: "What a pity. If you had high-powered sniper rifles, Zero might have become our trump card."
At the end of the group, the usually silent Zero raised an eyebrow and asked Chu Xuan: "You know me?"
