Transmigrating to a Life of Honor and Wealth: Raising the Heir of the Childless Heir

Chapter 29: It was obvious who was blessed

Everyone's faces lit up with joy, but Qin Lang did not say anything about eating them.

Qin Tang spoke up: "Qin Bi said we should eat, so let's eat."

Not being one to hoard food, Qin Lang took a small knife, sliced the sweet potato, and distributed small portions for everyone to taste. Qin Bi also received a small piece; it was very crisp when she took a bite, and eating it in the sweltering heat made her feel as if the heat had dissipated.

But spiritual food was so precious that everyone felt reluctant to eat it.

Qin Bi was also reluctant; she had a child at home and wanted to save some for Rong Yang.

While Qin Xun and the others were digging, they kept a wary eye out. If anyone discovered the spiritual food, the entire training team within the Monster Realm sub-space would swarm over, and everyone would start digging for sweet potatoes at high speed.

It was impossible to tell how many sweet potatoes were in this spot; as they dug, more appeared, and more appeared still. Rong Yan even began to suspect that some kind of sub-space celestial art had been triggered.

Qin Bi no longer had the heart to cry. If this were a typical transmigration world or a generic historical setting, she might have had a rough idea of sweet potato yields, but in a cultivation world, she knew nothing at all.

After digging up a pile of sweet potatoes, Qin Bi gathered them together to make it easier to use the teleportation array.

When she first discussed marriage with He Yan, he had treated her as his fiancée. Qin Bi used to visit the Duke of Yan's manor frequently, spending most of her time in He Yan's study because she loved reading.

Qin Bi had read books on cultivation, but after the marriage proposal failed and He Yan chose Qin He instead, she felt utterly aggrieved. Had she known He Yan would abandon her for Qin He, she would never have gone to the Duke of Yan's manor. Because of this, she had gradually forced herself to forget everything she had read in those cultivation books.

Deliberately, Qin Bi did not want to remember a single detail about the Duke of Yan's manor.

As the digging continued, Qin Tang grew uneasy and instructed Qin Lang: "Qin Lang, go to a high vantage point and keep watch to see if any training teams are approaching. There are still many sweet potatoes left to dig."

"Alright," Qin Lang replied, patting the dust off his robes before stepping away. "I'm uneasy too. I'm worried a training team will show up, and we won't be able to protect all these sweet potatoes."

"Don't just watch in one direction," Jiang Xu cautioned.

Qin Lang nodded and ran toward slightly higher ground.

The sweet potatoes in this patch were not large, but they were of excellent quality. At the very least, none had been nibbled by insects; even the smallest ones were flawless—though, of course, that didn't count the ones that had been sliced open.

Rong Yan and the others were digging with excitement. Even the steady Jiang Xu had a sudden, wild thought: "With this many sweet potatoes, will we never finish digging?!"

What a wild thought; Qin Bi suddenly burst into laughter.

"Pfft," Rong Yan scoffed. "In your dreams."

Never finish? How could he even think such a fantastical thing? He and Jiang Xu didn't even have spiritual roots, yet they dared to dream of such miracles.

Qin Tang and Qin Xun also laughed. Qin Xun dug up a sweet potato that had four others of varying sizes attached to it. Shaking off the dirt, Qin Xun said with a smile, "If we really can't finish digging them all, that would be truly incredible."

Everyone dug very carefully, worried that they might bruise the skins and make them impossible to store.

"It's a pity there are no sweet potato vines," Qin Bi remarked. "The vines are delicious too."

Rong Yan searched around but found no vines. The sandy soil was naturally dry and compacted; the vines had all withered and turned yellow. After Qin Bi had summoned a fireball to smash the area, the vines had been completely destroyed, which was why they hadn't discovered the sweet potatoes in the first place.

Watching the pile of sweet potatoes grow larger, Qin Bi's heart raced with excitement, and she grinned widely.

Qin Lang ran back to check; there were almost no sweet potatoes left in that spot. After Jiang Xu and the others searched once and then a second time, Qin Bi estimated that there were about two thousand catties of sweet potatoes.

"Should I teleport them all back at once, or distribute them to you first?" Qin Bi asked Rong Yan and Jiang Xu.

"Leave a small one for me," Jiang Xu said. "Just teleport them all back."

Rong Yan was a stout, prosperous-looking man. "Leave one for me too, otherwise I'll be thinking about it all day."

And so, everyone took one small sweet potato. Without even peeling them, they rinsed them and ate them raw. Qin Bi did not eat; this training session in the Monster Realm sub-space was only meant to awaken her cultivation aptitude.

Once they left the sub-space, it was uncertain whether she would be able to utilize her various talents again.

It was also uncertain if they could even continue training in the Monster Realm sub-space; without training, there would be no opportunities. Since she had finally found spiritual food, she would definitely save it for Rong Yang; the child was waiting at home.

Everything Rong Yang had was provided by Rong Jun; she had given almost nothing to the child.

Qin Tang sliced a sweet potato and gave it to Qin Bi. "Try some. It's crisp and thirst-quenching."

Qin Bi shook her head and smiled. "I won't eat; I have some."

Seeing that she truly wouldn't eat, Qin Tang ate it himself. Qin Lang chewed very quickly, and a small sweet potato vanished in the blink of an eye. Qin Bi took the teleportation array she had scavenged and teleported the pile of sweet potatoes away.

In the Prince Rong Manor, Rong Jun and Rong Yang were no longer attending court; they were staying home to watch over the courtyard.

Seeing the teleportation array, Rong Jun narrowed his eyes, a faint smile crossing his lips. He waved his hand, and the array landed in the open space of the front courtyard. When he saw that this time it was a pile of sweet potato spiritual food, Rong Jun was momentarily stunned.

The side consorts and concubines of Prince Rong had eyes that turned green with envy, each one egging the other on.

In the end, none of them had the courage to approach, watching helplessly as Rong Jun collected all the sweet potatoes.

Qin Tang and the others searched through the soil one more time. Qin Lang, having keen eyes, found several tiny sweet potatoes that looked like vines. Qin Bi didn't want them, so Qin Lang wiped them clean like treasures and munched on a small one.

At this moment, one's fortune was clearly visible; even Rong Yan found several small sweet potatoes.

Qin Tang, Qin Xun, and Jiang Xu couldn't find any. Qin Bi said nothing, searched meticulously, and found several as well, distributing them to Qin Tang and Qin Xun, while Rong Yan gave one to Jiang Xu.

"Let's walk around a bit more after we eat," Rong Yan said, turning to consult Qin Bi. "The harvest from this training session is quite significant. Should we continue killing monsters, or end the training and leave?"

Qin Bi felt the harvest was sufficient and didn't want to be greedy. After all, the Monster Realm sub-space was extremely dangerous and not a place to linger.

"Let's go back," Qin Bi said after a moment's thought.

"That sounds good," Qin Tang agreed.

After discussing it, the group decided to dig up some plants before leaving.

Qin Bi wanted to plant something in this part of the Monster Realm sub-space, but there wasn't a single decent plant in sight. Besides, digging them up from the soil just to plant them again seemed pointless.

What was the point?

Qin Bi brought up the idea to Qin Tang and the others, asking, "How can I plant something here?"

Qin Tang truly didn't know, and neither did Qin Xun or Qin Lang. They had done their homework before coming to train, but they hadn't studied agriculture; furthermore, the sons of noble houses didn't know how to farm.

The third branch's Qin Tan didn't mention planting, and Qin Tang's group had no ideas either.

Jiang Xu certainly wasn't thinking about planting, but Rong Yan knew a little bit about it. He rummaged through his summoned magical artifacts and found one with patterns of flowers, grass, and a shallow stream.

"As long as you have the ability to summon a little water, it'll be fine," Rong Yan explained, handing the artifact to Qin Bi. "You don't need to plant anything; just summon some water and the plants will grow."
