Transmigrating to a Life of Honor and Wealth: Raising the Heir of the Childless Heir
Chapter 53: Luck, Too
Qin Bi was stunned, then realized the truth with a surge of joy: "This field can be used to grow crops?"
In this fictional cultivation world, Qin Bi had always been a nobody in the Marquis's manor. To suddenly stand out like this, the joy was beyond words; she could hardly believe she was actually this capable.
The Scribe was also excited, estimating the area: "This isn't just half a *fen*, is it? It looks like a full *fen*."
The Scribe took up his brush and ink, writing in the ledger: "Recorded as one *fen* of land for you."
The Scribe knew that this was Qin Bi's first time reclaiming wasteland, and she had cleared a *fen* in less than a day. He made a mental note of her; if she reclaimed more wasteland, perhaps his own rank could advance further.
Qin Bi still found it hard to believe she had cleared a field. She grabbed a handful of damp soil to inspect it. Having seen good soil before, she pinched it and frowned: "This soil isn't quite good enough, is it?!"
"It's fine," the Scribe said. "It can be upgraded."
Qin Bi asked, "How do I upgrade it?"
"Through rain irrigation."
"I'll do it," Qin Bi said. "I can summon light rain."
The Scribe looked at Qin Bi, weighing her ability: "Alright, go ahead."
When Qin Bi didn't move, the Scribe was puzzled.
"You should leave," Qin Bi said with an embarrassed smile. "I can't summon it while people are watching me."
The Scribe didn't mind. Some people didn't perform well under pressure, so he called his attendants and left. It was already mid-afternoon, and many scholars were finishing their work; the Scribe went off to record the reclaimed fields.
The scholars had reclaimed a vast amount of wasteland throughout the day; some had cleared over ten *mu* in a single day.
As soon as the Scribe left, Rong Yan and the others ran over. They looked at Qin Bi's field with curiosity, disbelief, and a hint of envy. After working all day, they hadn't managed to change the soil quality at all.
Even the leaves of the bean sprouts were drooping; they couldn't till the soil.
Qin Lang and Qin Xun's flowers and plants would likely need to return to their summoning artifacts to recover. Compared to the water element, the wood element was far behind in reclaiming wasteland, and they didn't know how to summon rain.
"The light rain you summon can actually clear a field this fast?" Rong Yan grabbed some soil, knowing immediately if it was good or not. "It really can be used for planting. Amazing! You'll be able to earn spirit stones today."
As Qin Lang tried to step into the field, Qin Bi warned, "Don't stomp it into a hard crust."
"No wonder you used to ask my mother for land; you're actually quite skilled at reclaiming wasteland." Qin Lang stood to the side, true to his word, refusing to step into the field. "It's all my parents' fault for having no vision. They thought you couldn't farm and only gave you one *mu*."
If they had given her more, perhaps Qin Bi would have demonstrated her abilities long ago.
Qin Xun was also happy for her. "Let's reclaim a bit more, then we'll head back."
After a round of envy, everyone went back to their work.
Qin Bi stood still and took her tea bowl, skipping the summoning ritual entirely. With a wave of her hand, the light rain began to fall again. Qin Bi squinted as the rain grew heavier. Fortunately, the area was small—only one *fen*—so she could control it.
She appeared calm, but in reality, her heart was racing.
She couldn't let people see heavy rain, so she had to make it quick. Qin Bi moved her tea bowl, and the wind swirled the rain into a downpour. In the time it took to drink a cup of tea, the field was thoroughly irrigated.
The Scribe came by to take a look. Seeing the soaked soil, he froze for a long moment.
"First-class fertile land!" The Scribe cried out in joy.
"I want spirit stones," Qin Bi said with a smile.
"Granted," the Scribe replied. "I'll give you thirty spirit stones."
Qin Bi was delighted, and Rong Lang and the others were even more envious.
"My goodness," Rong Yan remarked. "First-class fertile land, and she cleared a whole *fen* in one day."
Seeing that it was getting late, everyone headed back toward the teleportation array.
At this time, the scholars were all discussing the number of *mu* they had reclaimed that day, each trying to show off or compare results.
The Scribe gave Qin Bi the thirty spirit stones: "Come back tomorrow. I'll give you some looser wasteland. Since you can summon rain, you're very suited for reclamation. Reclaiming land is much better than training in the Monster Realm small space."
Lin Yao walked over and overheard, thinking he had misheard.
Seeing the spirit stones Qin Bi received, Lin Yao froze. He glanced at Qin Bi and asked the Scribe, "She cleared a field that can be planted?"
"First-class fertile land," the Scribe answered.
Lin Yao almost impulsively ran to Qin Bi's field to check. How was that possible? He had only cleared one medium-grade fertile field all day and received ten spirit stones. Still, this was a good thing.
Lin Yao stopped pretending he didn't know Qin Bi and offered her a suggestion: instead of coming back tomorrow, she should go to Prince Rong's fief to reclaim land. Every *mu* she cleared would belong to the young prince, and there was a huge difference between fertile land and second-class land.
Qin Bi pondered: "I'll think about it when I get back."
Mu Meng'er ran over to greet Rong Yan. Seeing Qin Bi get spirit stones, the young girl looked bewildered. When they had gone to the Monster Realm small space for training previously, Rong Yan and his group had made quite a harvest after their team left.
Although Rong Yan and Qin Tang weren't flashy, they had sold several monsters.
Qin Bi must have made a significant harvest as well; if she had known, she wouldn't have left.
Seeing Qin Bi get spirit stones, Mu Jun's eyes flashed. At that moment, the teleportation array was about to open. Everyone stepped into the array and was instantly transported back to the capital, exchanging goodbyes before parting ways.
Rong Juan had brought Rong Yang to pick up Qin Bi. Sitting in the carriage, the child poked his little head out.
Qin Bi smiled and walked toward them.
Mu Meng'er still couldn't wrap her head around it. She said to Mu Jun, "Brother, Qin Bi is clearly very weak and likes to cry. It's one thing for them to be good at killing monsters, but how is she so good at reclaiming wasteland?"
"Some people are just blessed," Mu Jun mused. "Their luck is good. Once their blessing and luck values are activated, killing monsters in the Monster Realm small space will be easy for her."
"If I had known, I would have become her friend," Mu Meng'er pouted.
Mu Jun said nothing and led Mu Meng'er away.
A group of wealthy young masters walked together, all looking exhausted and wilted. They had been at it for days and hadn't even cleared a single field. Their families wanted them to take the imperial examinations, so they would have to return to their studies.
Qin Bi boarded the carriage first, and Rong Yan left with Qin Lang.
Upon returning to the Prince Rong Manor, Lin Yao immediately mentioned Qin Bi's ability to summon rain. For the water-scarce Great Yan Kingdom, the ability to summon rain would make her extremely popular among cultivators.
"Doesn't the young prince like fertile land?" Lin Yao, a strategist with many schemes, suggested, "Instead of reclaiming wasteland in the wilderness, why not provide rain in his own fief? Every *mu* reclaimed is a gain."
Rong Juan didn't pay much attention. "You may leave."
After Lin Yao left, Qin Bi washed up and spent some time talking with Rong Yang. They discussed how to spend the money. Since Qin Bi had earned thirty spirit stones, she would definitely treat them to a good meal first, and the rest would go into Rong Yang's little savings.
"Buy spirit rice to eat," the little one said. He loved spirit food.
"Alright," Qin Bi agreed. Thirty spirit stones could only buy one *jin* of spirit rice; she hadn't earned as much as she hoped.
Qin Bi gave the spirit stones to Guard Yan. "Go buy some spirit rice."
Guard Yan was surprised. This Consort was truly impressive—she earned thirty spirit stones herself, whereas Qin He's were all gifts from others.
