Transmigrating to a Life of Honor and Wealth: Raising the Heir of the Childless Heir

Chapter 56: Who is it for?

That evening, Rong Jun gave the guards spirit stones to buy back spirit rice.

Seeing this, the little one said to Qin Bi, who was holding him, "Mother, Little Prince Brother told me that Fu Bao isn't lacking spirit rice to eat. She eats spirit food every day, with spirit rice and spirit vegetables, and she even eats from Imperial Uncle too."

Qin Bi was not surprised in the least. As Qin He's child, there would always be ways to get delicious food.

The child leaned against Qin Bi's shoulder and said, "Little Prince Brother was very sad; he didn't get to eat any."

The Little Prince was likely dissatisfied. Qin Bi held great respect for the Emperor of Great Yan in her heart, so she smiled and said to Rong Yang, "Our Emperor of Great Yan is a blessed emperor; his fortune is at the maximum level."

"Shouldn't he be giving it to his own children?" Rong Yang asked, puzzled.

Qin Bi looked at the child, wondering if he was asking for himself or for the Little Prince. She was powerless regarding the Little Prince's situation; the Emperor of Great Yan did everything for his own reasons.

However, Rong Yang's mind was easy to satisfy.

"Your father has loved you since the day you were born. Is there anything he won't give you if you want it?" Qin Bi said from the bottom of her heart. "You are so blessed. I love you too, and our family's spirit food isn't given to other people's children."

A smile appeared on Rong Yang's small face. "Rong Yang wants it!"

Qin Bi smiled, lost in thought. Since Qin He wanted to compete, as long as Rong Yang obtained something from the Emperor of Great Yan, Qin He's child would demand the same treatment. She would just have to wait and see.

Since He Yan had no children, Qin He's child would act as if they were He Yan's child.

Qin Bi felt disdain. She asked Rong Jun for a few sweet potatoes, totaling about ten large and small ones. Rong Jun didn't ask questions. Qin Bi found a bag to pack them, holding Rong Yang while she tidied up.

The child's eyes went wide. "For whom?"

Seeing Qin Bi packing a bag of spirit food, Rong Yang grew worried. He didn't care if his father from the Duke of Yan's manor sent things to Fu Bao, but if anything from the Prince of Rong's manor was touched, the child would cry.

"You always eat Imperial Uncle's spirit food; you must give a return gift," Qin Bi explained quickly, holding the child to negotiate. "Your Prince Brother can't even eat spirit food. You have sweet potato spirit food; why don't you share some with Prince Brother?"

The child breathed a sigh of relief; as long as it wasn't for Fu Bao, it was fine.

"Okay," Rong Yang nodded.

Qin Bi said happily, "Sweet potato cakes are delicious when made."

Rong Yang loved them and followed suit with joy, "Delicious!"

For dinner, they made steamed sweet potato cakes using spirit rice flour. The small cakes were baked to a golden brown, and the moment the lid was lifted, a fragrance wafted out. Qin Bi ate one but didn't dare eat more; her appetite was small, and eating too much would make her feel bloated.

Rong Yang snuggled in Qin Bi's arms, eating a sweet potato cake. "I might eat more."

"Next time I go to the Immortal Sect, I'll buy you a chicken or duck raised by the Immortal Sect to eat," Rong Jun said, looking at Rong Yang with doting eyes. For his child, getting delicious food was no problem at all.

Rong Yang's eyes widened again. "But they are very expensive!"

"It doesn't matter," Rong Jun said. "Father can afford to raise you."

Rong Yang was happily content, eating several sweet potato cakes. He was a child who was loved; he was truly blessed. That night, the child counted the sweet potato spirit food in the bag once more.

Qin Bi was worried the child would rummage through it too many times and peel the sweet potatoes.

Fortunately, the child was very careful and tucked them away neatly.

The next morning, Rong Jun and Rong Yang went to court early. When the ministers saw the young Heir carrying a bag, they immediately guessed its purpose, thinking it might be a return gift, just as he had brought sweet potatoes as a return gift last time.

"Rong Yang," the Minister of War asked, "what are you carrying?"

Rong Yang opened the bag to show the Minister of War. The Minister of Revenue leaned over to take a peek, and as the Prime Minister stepped closer, he naturally caught sight of it as well. It was sweet potato spirit food.

"Sweet potatoes," Rong Yang said. "To give to Prince Brother to eat."

"What a good child," the ministers thought. They glanced at the young Heir of Rong. Despite his aura of killing intent, he raised his child very well, even knowing to give a return gift after eating the Emperor's spirit food.

The Minister of Revenue glanced at the Minister of War, thinking this child was much better than Qin He's child. Qin He's child had swallowed two auspicious clouds of Great Yan at birth, yet only ever received rewards without ever giving return gifts.

He Yan glanced toward them, narrowing his eyes as he took in everyone's thoughts.

Once the Emperor began the court session, Rong Yang listened for a few moments before taking his ingredients to find the Little Princes. When the Little Princes heard that Brother Rong Yang had brought them sweet potato spirit food, they were stunned with joy and gathered to discuss how to eat it.

"My mother said sweet potato cakes are delicious," Rong Yang mimicked.

"Then let's eat sweet potato cakes," an older prince suggested.

"Put spirit rice flour in," Rong Yang added.

The Little Princes looked at each other. One Little Prince went to find his imperial mother; his maternal family was of noble descent, so his mother surely had spirit rice. When the Little Prince returned to his palace and told her, his mother produced a jin of spirit rice.

The Little Prince and Rong Yang then ran to the Imperial Kitchen, waiting to eat the sweet potato cakes.

In the Prince of Rong's manor, Qin Bi had finished breakfast. Lin Yao and Guard Yan had been waiting for a long time. They had planted half a mu of cabbage and radishes yesterday; if they were diligent today, they might be able to plant another half mu.

Qin Bi stepped into the teleportation array. Lin Yao activated it, and in an instant, they arrived at the Heir's fiefdom.

A layer of snow had fallen on the ground. The group stood dazed for a while before reacting. The guards walked out of the teleportation array with a mix of surprise and wonder; Lin Yao even grabbed a handful of snow to feel it.

"I didn't expect it to actually snow," Lin Yao lamented.

This cultivation world lacked rain and snow. When they left yesterday, it had started to snow, but in Lin Yao's view, such early winter snow usually stopped quickly, leaving no trace on the ground.

To his surprise, a light snowfall had actually occurred.

"This snowy scenery is beautiful," Guard Yan said, his eyes shining.

The guards wandered aimlessly through the snow. Qin Bi was only surprised for a moment before running to stand beside the radish field. She took out a tea bowl to summon rainwater, and in an instant, a pitter-patter of light rain fell.

After a thought, Qin Bi pushed the rain to fall specifically over the vegetable patch.

The snow on the ground was hit by the rain and melted quickly, leaving the soil moist.

"Consort!" Lin Yao cried out in distress, hurriedly stopping her. "No need to rain here, no need to rain here! If the rainwater falls on thirsty land, it's a waste on the vegetable patch; we watered it thoroughly yesterday!"

Since it had already fallen, Qin Bi: "..."

She redirected the rain to fall beside the radish field. Estimating the area at about three mu, it was too large to cover all at once, so she let it fall field by field. The parched soil only had snow on the surface; underneath, it was all dry earth.

How could crops grow like this? Qin Bi waved her hand, and the light rain gradually became denser. Lin Yao arranged for Guard Yan and the others to use plant-summoning abilities to till the land and turn the soil.

Qin Bi controlled the rain to fall in a burst, then waved her hand, and the wind swept the rain diagonally across the vegetable patch. After about the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, the wind stopped, but the rain kept pouring. Qin Bi stepped aside to move the rain elsewhere.

In the next burst, the wind swept the rain toward the vegetable patch again.

Lin Yao: "..."

Her ability to control water was lacking, and her control over wind was also lacking; the vegetable patch didn't even lack water anymore.
