Transmigrating Through the Interstellar: My Wife's Glory and My Honor

Chapter 8: Auditing the Accounts

Guan Zhuting’s hand-wiping motion paused, her expression shifting slightly. She exchanged a glance with Hua Ran, and the mother and son’s hearts sank. As expected, when a wall is about to collapse, everyone gives it a push; no one could be relied upon. Luo Bi had always been the type to turn her back on people without a second thought. Stimulated by the broken engagement today, she had finally snapped and decided to audit the family’s accounts.

“There are still over five thousand interstellar coins,” Guan Zhuting reported a figure calmly.

Luo Bi was sharp; she saw at a glance that the mother and son were overthinking it. She didn’t bother to explain, instead aiming her spear at her father: “Father, how much private money have you tucked away? I remember you took out three hundred thousand a while ago. Is there more?”

Seeing her father hesitate for a moment, Luo Bi knew there was more; she just didn’t know how much. Watching her father open his mouth to answer, she quickly cut him off: “Father, you must still have some, right? Whether it was saved for me or for other reasons, not a single interstellar coin is allowed to be left out. Speak, how much? Don’t tell me you don’t have any; I know you do.”

Luo Hang swallowed the “I don’t” that was about to spill out. Having his secrets exposed to his face by his own daughter, Luo Hang deeply regretted telling her in the first place. This silly child was a total father-trap.

Luo Hang didn’t feel that having a secret stash was anything shameful. He glared at Luo Bi and said irritably, “A little over five hundred thousand interstellar coins.”

“That much?” Luo Bi was pleasantly surprised. The father in this life was definitely better than the one in her past life. Her father in the previous life was always worrying about this person or that person, never leaving a way out for his own family—he was truly foolish.

Guan Zhuting lowered her eyes and said nothing. They were a blended family; she had a son, and Luo Hang had a daughter. Everyone has their own selfish motives, and it was understandable that Luo Hang had his own plans. She had originally saved some interstellar coins for her son as well, but to keep him alive, she had taken them all out to buy spiritual medicine.

Luo Bi turned to Hua Ran: “Brother, what about you? Convert the interstellar coins in your account and everything valuable you have on hand. How many interstellar coins do you estimate you have?”

Hua Ran’s expression was unreadable. He glanced at Luo Bi but was in no hurry to answer.

“A-Bi.” This audit was going a bit too far. Luo Hang spoke up to remind her. This child didn’t know when to pick her battles. With the family in such a state and everyone’s hearts unsettled, an audit like this could easily create rifts between family members.

Luo Bi gave her father an impatient side-eye before explaining to Hua Ran: “I don’t mean anything else by this. Your strong genes are severely damaged. Let’s set aside whether they can be fully nurtured back to health for now; first and foremost, your life must be preserved. I’m checking the accounts mainly because I want to buy you a bottle of Grade 3 spiritual medicine to save your life.”

Guan Zhuting looked over abruptly, asking uncertainly: “You want to buy life-saving spiritual medicine for your brother?”

If, if... what Luo Bi said was true, then... perhaps her son could be saved. Luo Hang was the head of the household, and Luo Bi was his only daughter. As long as this father and daughter were willing to sell off their family assets, they could barely afford a bottle of Grade 3 spiritual medicine.

Luo Bi nodded: “I’m not very familiar with the market prices of spiritual medicine. Brother, do you know how many interstellar coins a bottle of Grade 3 spiritual medicine costs?”

Guan Zhuting received the answer, her surprise mixed with a sense of panic and confusion; it felt unreal.

Hua Ran’s gaze was complex. He had experienced too many ups and downs and had long since seen through human nature, but Luo Bi’s actions truly exceeded his expectations. Luo Hang might not care about the cost for his mother’s sake, but Luo Bi really had no obligation to do this. Moreover, from what he understood, Luo Bi was too cold and indifferent, never caring about anyone’s life or death except for her family. It was rare that she actually considered him family.
