Transmigrated as an Ability-User Girl in the Eighties
Chapter 7: Spatial Carrier
Walking over to the desk, she saw a letter pressed down on the surface, addressed to "The Destined One." Fortunately, Luo Qiao had studied calligraphy in her previous life, so by piecing it together, she was finally able to understand the contents.
It was written inside that the previous owner was a person from the Tang Dynasty. Overjoyed at obtaining this space, she had told her best friend about it, never imagining that her friend would leak the secret. In the end, it led to her being separated from her own flesh and blood and meeting a tragic end.
She advised the destined one to keep the secret well, reminding them of the principle: "An innocent man is guilty only because of his treasure."
The latter part briefly described the functions of the space. There was a well behind the bamboo house; drinking from it regularly could beautify the skin, improve one's complexion, and strengthen the body. Time in the space moved four times faster than in the outside world, and the fields could yield eight harvests a year.
The produce grown in the space tasted better than anything outside, and the underground warehouse in the bamboo house could preserve items, keeping them fresh indefinitely.
Seeing this, she reached up to touch her neck and, sure enough, felt the crescent-shaped jade pendant. In the original owner's memories, she had worn this pendant since she was a child; it was absolutely impossible for this item to have belonged to the Luo family.
Unable to figure it out, she stopped thinking about it. She only gathered from the letter that this space must have been obtained yesterday when the original owner's blood stained the jade pendant. It was just that the pendant looked truly unremarkable.
But thinking about it, that made sense. It was fortunate that it was unremarkable; otherwise, the Luo family would have likely confiscated it long ago. It was also fortunate that the original owner had been raised by Grandma Luo since she was small, as the Luo couple had barely paid any attention to her.
When the original owner was nine, Grandma Luo fell ill and passed away. The original owner then lived with the two daughters of the Luo family's eldest branch, which was why the item had never been discovered by the Luo couple.
Luo Qiao now felt a sense of unreality; she was so excited she didn't know what to do, and it took a long time of sitting quietly in the study before she finally calmed down.
She went downstairs and found the entrance to the warehouse. After going down, Luo Qiao saw that the warehouse was quite large. It contained mostly grain, some fruit, and a small amount of vegetables.
Further inside were rows upon rows of shelves holding gold, silver, and jade ornaments, antique calligraphy and paintings, exquisitely crafted bowls and dishes, tea sets, and a large quantity of various fabrics, as well as all kinds of embroidery thread.
At the very back were several sets of cabinets with drawers. Upon walking over, Luo Qiao discovered they were all labeled: seeds for grain, vegetables, flowers, and medicinal herbs.
After a quick look, she left the bamboo house. There was a small door at the back of the house; she walked over and saw that behind it was a bamboo forest. Neatly stacked against the back wall of the bamboo house were many dried stalks.
Luo Qiao then remembered the kitchen had a clay stove. She returned to the kitchen to take a closer look and found there were actually two stoves, along with all sorts of knives, plates, bowls, and basins.
There were steamers of various sizes, and even a dough-rolling board and rolling pin. Most importantly, there was a stone mill in the kitchen—it was truly fully equipped.
After finishing her inspection of the kitchen, Luo Qiao walked to the back door to look for the well. She stepped out and, after only a few paces, saw the well that was said to beautify the skin and strengthen the body.
Out of curiosity, Luo Qiao wanted to taste the well water. Because she had never drawn water from a well in her previous life, even with the original owner's memories, it took her quite a while to haul up half a bucket of water.
She used the gourd ladle sitting nearby to scoop some up and drank it. It was indeed cool, sweet, and smooth. She suddenly started to laugh—why did that sound like a liquor commercial?
Ahead was the bamboo forest. It wasn't very large, but there were quite a few varieties of bamboo: moso bamboo, mottled bamboo, arrow bamboo, black bamboo, giant timber bamboo, and phoenix-tail bamboo, along with a few others Luo Qiao didn't recognize.
Luo Qiao didn't venture any further because she had been on the kang when she entered and wasn't wearing shoes. Besides, it was broad daylight, and Lu Yichen might come in at any moment.
Thank you all for your support!
