Transmigrated as an Ability-User Girl in the Eighties
Chapter 3: The Superpower Followed
Lu Yichen left after saying that. Luo Qiao lay on the kang alone, thinking that if only she had her supernatural abilities, she could recover sooner. In her current state, she couldn't do anything and had to be waited on by others.
Thinking about it made her feel stifled. She had to get better quickly to resolve her household registration issue; she didn't know if Qingshan Village would even allow her to register there.
Thinking of the melodramatic plot of that book, she figured it must be the spring of 1980. Fifteen years ago, Zhao Pulin, the second son of the Zhao family in Qingshan Village, and his wife, Gao Suhua, had gone to the city on business. Unexpectedly, the pregnant Gao Suhua went into labor prematurely.
Upon learning that she had given birth to yet another daughter, she wept uncontrollably into her quilt. Having already given birth to five daughters across four pregnancies, she knew without a doubt that her parents-in-law would not be happy about this baby girl.
Seeing that the woman in the same hospital room was still unconscious and dressed in high-quality clothing, a crooked thought crossed her mind. Taking advantage of the fact that there was no one else in the room, she swapped the two baby girls. She had just finished the deed, trembling with fear, when the other woman's family completed the transfer procedures and left.
The melodramatic part was that before she even had a chance to look closely at the baby girl she had swapped for, she was stunned by a sudden stroke of good fortune. A couple who had just moved in, upon learning that the Zhaos wanted a son, proactively offered to swap children.
They said they wanted a thoughtful "little cotton-padded jacket" (a daughter). This delighted Gao Suhua, and once her husband returned and they discussed it, the deal was done.
Zhao Pulin and Gao Suhua never imagined that the son they had treasured and raised for fifteen years would leave with his biological parents from the city without a moment's hesitation, turning their branch of the Zhao family into the laughingstock of Qingshan Village.
The Zhao family already had six daughters to raise, so they were unwilling to acknowledge Luo Qiao, who had been sent back. Furthermore, Gao Suhua knew that Luo Qiao was not her biological daughter at all.
To this day, the Zhao family still didn't know that the Luo couple had only wanted to secure a good identity for their newborn son back then, so he wouldn't be implicated and suffer with them at the labor camp where they were sent down.
Now that the couple had been rehabilitated and returned to the city, they wanted to take their son back to raise him properly and have him by their side. As for Luo Qiao, who had grown up by their side, they had never liked her, so they simply threw her back to her biological parents.
What the Luo couple didn't know was that Luo Qiao wasn't the Zhao family's daughter at all. The couple was now single-mindedly focused on returning to their normal lives, each returning to their own home and their own mother.
And so, the poor original owner was pushed over during the tug-of-war between the Zhao and Luo families over the son. Her head struck the steps, she bled profusely on the spot, and when she woke up, she was the Luo Qiao with a new soul.
Luo Qiao sighed, thinking of the pitifully small amount of familial affection in her past life. Her parents were always busy, busy, busy; all they could give her was money, money, money, while she only knew how to constantly sign up for various classes.
She had always thought that if she were excellent enough, her parents would value her. But instead of being valued, she waited for the apocalypse. In this life, she would no longer think about those ethereal things; living freely and easily on her own was just fine.
Turning over, she saw a grain of millet in the crack of the kang, likely left over from drying grain on the kang last year. She picked it up absentmindedly, and while lost in thought, she habitually used her ability to stimulate its growth.
By the time Luo Qiao realized what she had done, a millet sprout over two inches long had already grown. Frightened, Luo Qiao quickly destroyed the evidence. After the shock came surprise—her supernatural ability had followed her here.
Luo Qiao couldn't help but probe her current body. She faintly sensed the familiar energy waves, but unfortunately, it was too weak now, only at about the second level. It was fine for stimulating plant growth, but it couldn't do anything else.
Update finished for today! I hope everyone likes it, thank you!
