The Terminally Ill, Psychotic Real Heiress Beats Up Her Family Tree

Chapter 10: The First Gift from Jiang Ning

Chapter 10: Jiang Ning's First Gift

The man showed no reaction to Jiang Ning's questioning.

His tall, upright body was curled up in a dejected ball like an ostrich, and his frame was still trembling slightly; he didn't seem to be doing very well.

Jiang Ning gripped the handrail, her back pressing against the laptop bag she had been carrying.

She froze, suddenly remembering that while she was packing her things just now, she had also taken a small night light from the bedside table.

Jiang Ning turned around and pulled the night light out of her bag.

This night light was something Jiang Ning had bought herself—a palm-sized glass sphere that charged via solar power and emitted a soft glow whenever it was placed in darkness.

Furthermore, inside this glass sphere lay a beautiful, swirling galaxy of stars.

During the day, it looked unremarkable when unlit, but at night, once placed in a dark environment, it would bloom with its own light.

Jiang Ning didn't know much about claustrophobia; she had only heard the name and a general idea of what it was.

However, if she could divert his attention, perhaps he wouldn't feel so miserable?

After all, they were comrades sharing the same ordeal of being trapped in an elevator; it would be best if everyone could wait safely for rescue.

With her phone screen black and the flashlight function off, the cramped space around them was no longer visible. Jiang Ning extended the glowing night light toward him. "Look up. This is for you."

The light from the night light filtered through the gap, entering his line of sight.

The man, who had been keeping his head low, moved. He lifted his head from between his knees, revealing a clean and handsome profile. His gaze fixed intently on the glowing sphere in Jiang Ning's hand, appearing exceptionally focused; he didn't even spare a glance at Jiang Ning beside him.

The moment the man lifted his head, even Jiang Ning, who was accustomed to scrolling through handsome men and beautiful women on short video apps, was momentarily dazed by his flawless skin and striking features.

She had never seen anyone so perfect!

The man staring at the night light had pale, cool skin and focused eyes. His facial lines were clean and sharp, and his features were deeply defined.

Under the warm yellow glow of the night light, a faint shadow was cast from his handsome brow to his high, straight nose. When he lowered his eyes, one could see his thick, long eyelashes; as his dark lashes fluttered, they revealed an exquisite beauty.

What dazed Jiang Ning was not just his outstanding appearance, but the sense of quiet harmlessness he exuded—a feeling that felt strangely at odds with his tall, large frame.

Seeing that he was staring intently at the night light in her hand, Jiang Ning moved her arm slightly. Sure enough, she saw his clear, beautiful eyes follow the movement of the light.

She found it unexpectedly interesting.

"Here, it's yours." Jiang Ning held the night light out to him once more.

The man's gaze finally shifted from the night light to Jiang Ning.

He turned his whole face toward her. Under the dim light, his perfect, deep features struck Jiang Ning at close range.

What a visual assault!

Jiang Ning maintained her composure and met his gaze.

A few seconds later, the man slowly withdrew his gaze and took the night light from her hand.

He hadn't said a word from beginning to end, and Jiang Ning didn't mind.

Beautiful people often have their own little temperaments; considering how good-looking he was, she could tolerate him for the time being.

Once the man had the night light, his attention was clearly diverted. His trembling body returned to normal, and he sat quietly in the corner staring at the small light in his hands, looking unexpectedly well-behaved.

With her heart set on the rescue, Jiang Ning checked her watch from time to time.

After ten minutes of sitting in this quiet atmosphere, a sound suddenly came from outside.

Jiang Ning hurriedly called for help.

Fifteen minutes later, the elevator doors were successfully opened by the rescue team.

There were far more people standing outside the elevator than Jiang Ning had imagined.

In addition to the 119 emergency responders, there were uniformed hotel staff and a large, bustling crowd of onlookers.

Carrying her suitcase, Jiang Ning walked out of the elevator and thanked the rescuers. Hotel staff immediately stepped forward to apologize to her with a professional attitude, proactively offering her free accommodation at the hotel as compensation.

Accidents aren't something anyone wants, and since she wasn't injured, Jiang Ning nodded, accepting the hotel's apology.

Out of the corner of her eye, Jiang Ning saw even more people gathered around the elevator entrance in a massive commotion. She even seemed to hear someone calling out "Young Master" in a panic.

So, he was a wealthy young master.

No wonder he looked so detached from the mundane world.

Carrying her suitcase, Jiang Ning walked away briskly, moving with purpose.

She did not know that after she left, the man—who had been rising slowly due to his numb legs—was holding that glowing sphere as if it were a precious treasure, immediately searching for her silhouette the moment he stepped out of the elevator.

When he searched the area and failed to find her, the tall man stood in place with a dejected gaze, his handsome face clouded with gloom, looking much like a small puppy that had been abandoned by its owner.

A group of people followed behind him, walking on eggshells, while someone immediately sent a message to the Qi family: *President Qi, the Second Young Master has been found. He was trapped in the elevator but has just been freed and is unharmed.*

The male lead of the new book—his main selling points are a great physique and high looks!
