The School Beauty's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 12: Strange Encounter in the Cave (Part 1)

Chen Yushu busied herself following behind Chu Mengyao. She made a face at Lin Yi, gave him a glare, and then hurried upstairs.

"Is such a big reaction really necessary?"

Lin Yi shook his head. Looking at the delicacies on the table, he thought to himself that since it seemed they wouldn't be coming down to eat, these should all belong to him.

Thus, Lin Yi picked up his chopsticks and began to eat heartily, sweeping through the four dishes and one soup on the table like a whirlwind...

Once Chu Mengyao returned to her room, she collapsed onto the bed. She felt she was a tragic figure, and deeply wronged.

On what grounds? How could her first kiss just vanish like that?

If it had been a handsome boy, it would have been fine, but it had to be this country bumpkin, this rustic oaf, Lin Yi!

"Xiaoshu, why am I so unlucky!"

Chu Mengyao couldn't help but cry out in grievance. Earlier, with Lin Yi present, she didn't want to make a fool of herself, so she had forced herself to suppress her emotions.

Although tears were falling, she hadn't made a sound. Now that it was just her and Chen Yushu, she no longer cared.

"Oh, Sister Yao Yao, don't be sad. At least it was an indirect kiss, not direct mouth-to-mouth. He didn't really gain anything, right!"

Chen Yushu thought to herself: *At most, you just swallowed some of that guy's saliva; he didn't get to taste yours!*

If Chen Yushu hadn't spoken, it might have been fine, but her words only made Chu Mengyao feel more wronged. If they had truly kissed, she could have accepted it, but she had suffered a loss without even getting any benefit!

Lin Yi didn't gain anything, so he wouldn't feel sympathy or guilt, while she could only accept her bad luck!

"No, I've decided. Tomorrow I'll tell Dad that it's either me or him in this house!"

Chu Mengyao said resentfully, "I must..."

Chu Mengyao eventually grew tired of crying and vomiting. After a bout of complaining, she drifted off into a daze of sleep.

Chen Yushu shook her head and lay down beside her, thinking: *It's just a bit of saliva, it's no big deal. It's not like you'll get pregnant. Is it really worth it?*

Downstairs.

After finishing his meal, Lin Yi prepared himself to be reprimanded. There was no helping it; who told him his status to be so low?

If this were the old society, he would be a servant; if he displeased the young lady, there was no telling what punishment he might receive.

However, after waiting for a long time without anyone coming down, Lin Yi tidied up the food containers on the table and returned to his room.

It was already past nine; Chu Mengyao and the others had likely gone to sleep and wouldn't come down again.

After washing his face and brushing his teeth, Lin Yi locked his door, sat on his bed, and began to cultivate the Xuanyuan Dragon-Governing Art.

The origin of this technique was quite special; he had discovered it in a cave.

He remembered it was when he was eight years old. On a full moon night, the old man had called him to the summit of Xixing Mountain to test his recent progress in martial arts.

Lin Yi didn't understand why the old man would call him to the summit in the middle of the night to test his skills, but under the old man's usual high-pressure policy, Lin Yi obediently followed him up the mountain.

However, after exchanging just a few moves, Lin Yi clearly felt something was wrong!

The old man wasn't testing him at all; he was practically trying to kill him!

Just as Lin Yi was about to say something, he felt a massive force strike his backside, and the old man kicked him violently down into the valley.

Lin Yi felt the wind whistling past his ears; he was flying through the sky like Ultraman in a cartoon.

After a long time, Lin Yi finally hit the ground with a heavy "thud"!

Lin Yi felt as if his entire skeletal structure were about to fall apart!

Although the old man had soaked his entire body in Chinese medicine every day since he was three to improve his bones and physique, falling from such a high mountain still left Lin Yi dazed and unconscious.

Looking toward the direction where Lin Yi had fallen, Old Man Lin shook his head and sighed

"Xiao Yi, it's not that Grandpa is heartless, but opportunities like this never come twice. The cave entrance only opens once every five years on the night of the Mid-Autumn full moon. If you don't get in this time, you will miss the best age for cultivation..."

After an unknown amount of time, Lin Yi slowly regained consciousness. He first cursed Old Man Lin for being unscrupulous before crawling to his feet.

There was no use cursing now, so Lin Yi first checked his body. After finding no major issues, he stood up.

However, the sight before his eyes shocked him! In front of him stood a massive mountain gate, ancient in design yet majestic in aura!

The vermilion paint shimmered under the moonlight, and the golden door rings emitted a dazzling glow!

It was as if it were the residence of immortals from mythology! Above the giant gate was a plaque with four large characters: "Xuanyuan Abode."

What kind of place was this?

Lin Yi's breathing became rapid. He had lived on Xixing Mountain for many years, yet he had never heard of such a place existing at the base of the mountain!

Although Lin Yi didn't know why he had stumbled upon this place, or how the old man had been so coincidental as to kick him right to the cave entrance, he felt a sense of familiarity!

It was a sense of déjà vu, as if he had been here before in his dreams!

However, no matter how hard Lin Yi racked his brain, he couldn't figure out when he had been here.

Lin Yi steadied himself and instinctively walked toward the mountain gate, as if pulled by some force.

When he reached the cave entrance, Lin Yi instinctively tried to push the door, but unfortunately, the gate didn't budge an inch.

Frowning, Lin Yi pulled hard on the door, but it remained motionless.

Just as Lin Yi was about to turn and leave in disappointment, something strange happened!

Lin Yi discovered that the originally tightly closed cave door was slowly opening!

Lin Yi was startled, thinking someone was coming out of the cave. He quickly ducked to the side, his eyes fixed intently on the entrance!

However, after waiting for a while, no one emerged from the cave, but Lin Yi could see the interior clearly!

It was a massive hall. There were no lights inside, yet it was as bright as day. He didn't know what was producing such a dazzling radiance that illuminated the entire hall so brightly!

The wondrous sight before him made Lin Yi's mouth hang open in shock!

Aside from "shocked," no other word could describe how Lin Yi felt at that moment!

After confirming there were no living creatures in the hall, Lin Yi cautiously walked toward the open stone door.

With every step, Lin Yi looked around vigilantly, only continuing forward once he was certain there was no danger.

However, that was also because Lin Yi was young then and possessed a strong sense of curiosity; the current Lin Yi might not have been so impulsive.

Then again, if it hadn't been for Lin Yi's curiosity and impulsiveness back then, this serendipitous encounter would never have happened.
