The School Beauty's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 15: Satellite Channel

Once Old Man Lin learned that Lin Yi was practicing the "Xuanyuan Dragon-Governing Art," he essentially adopted an attitude of tacit permission.

He provided no guidance, yet he did not interfere, allowing Lin Yi to develop freely.

However, after practicing the "Xuanyuan Dragon-Governing Art," although Lin Yi felt his physical constitution had improved significantly, he could not see much change in his martial arts prowess.

No matter what, he was no match for Old Man Lin.

Old Man Lin was like a boss in a game dungeon; if Lin Yi grew stronger, the old man grew stronger, and if Lin Yi grew weaker, the old man grew weaker. This was a source of great frustration for Lin Yi.

If one had to say Lin Yi had changed in any way, it was that he felt his six senses were much sharper than before; his hearing and vision were somewhat more acute.

Day after day, year after year, without any guidance from anyone, Lin Yi had basically mastered the first stage of the "Xuanyuan Dragon-Governing Art."

In the blink of an eye, the five-year period arrived. It was another night of the full moon, and Lin Yi once again entered the stone gate of the cave at the foot of West Star Mountain.

Regrettably, this time Lin Yi did not open the stone door behind the main hall.

Lin Yi was not surprised by this result, as he knew he had not broken through the first stage—the Silkworm Period—and had made no progress once he reached the middle stage.

Although Lin Yi told Old Man Lin about his predicament, the old man merely shook his head with a smile, indicating he was powerless to help.

The second five-year period was approaching, and Lin Yi’s anxiety grew increasingly intense.

After all these years, he was still stagnating in the middle stage of the first stage. If this continued, he would once again return empty-handed.

Now, Lin Yi understood that the "Xuanyuan Dragon-Governing Art" he was practicing was not a martial art, but rather something akin to a cultivation manual for immortality.

It sounded somewhat world-shaking, but Lin Yi knew that this was indeed what he was practicing.

Recalling Old Man Lin's strange behavior during the first full moon, Lin Yi even suspected that it might have all been premeditated!

A deliberate trap to kick him off West Star Mountain so he would enter that stone gate.

Otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence that Old Man Lin chose to test his skills precisely on a night of the full moon?

Even if he wanted to test him, there was no need to go all the way to the mountain peak, was there?

And even if he went to the peak, he shouldn't have used lethal force, right?

Even if he did use lethal force, how could it be such a coincidence that he kicked him right to the entrance of the cave?

Fine, even if he coincidentally kicked him to the cave entrance, why did Old Man Lin insist on waiting until Lin Yi emerged from the cave before coming to find him?

Furthermore, when Lin Yi told Old Man Lin about what he had seen and heard, the indifferent expression Old Man Lin displayed made it seem as if he had known all along!

All of this made Lin Yi very suspicious.

However, whenever Lin Yi questioned Old Man Lin about his suspicions, the old man would not answer.

Eventually, Lin Yi grew too lazy to ask. Whether it was intentional or not, he would just focus on his own cultivation!

When Lin Yi emerged from his meditative state, the horizon outside the window had already begun to turn a pale grey.

Lin Yi shook his head helplessly. Although he felt some progress and a sense of refreshment every time he finished his practice, there was still no major breakthrough.

He quickly ran to the bathroom to take a quick shower and wash up. After cleaning off the sweat, Lin Yi put on his No. 1 High School uniform and walked out of his room.

The entire villa was still quiet. Lin Yi looked toward the stairs; the two girls were likely still sleeping.

Feeling bored, Lin Yi sat on the sofa, turned on the seventy-inch large LCD TV in the living room, and turned off the sound to watch.

Large TVs were truly satisfying. Lin Yi reclined leisurely on the sofa; this was the first time he had ever enjoyed watching TV so comfortably!

Back home, aside from a knock-off laptop that could barely display images, all he had was a twenty-five-inch CRT television.

"Achoo!"

Lin Yi sneezed. He hadn't expected his constitution to be susceptible to a cold.

However, considering he had always lived in the south and was now in the north, it was normal to experience some physical discomfort due to the large temperature difference between day and night, even in summer.

Lin Yi casually pulled two tissues from the box on the coffee table, wiped his nose, and tossed them aside.

Since it was early morning, most channels had no programming, so Lin Yi pressed the channel button on the remote.

But after pressing it for a while, the TV didn't respond, remaining stuck on the "no signal" globe screen.

"Is the remote out of batteries?"

Lin Yi cursed inwardly, but then he thought—wait, didn't he just use this remote to turn the TV on?

Thinking of this, Lin Yi observed the area around the TV more closely.

It turned out the villa was equipped with satellite TV, which required the set-top box remote to change channels; the TV remote could only control the power and volume.

Although Lin Yi came from the deep mountains of the countryside, because Old Man Lin had bought him a knock-off netbook, he had gained some knowledge of technology and the outside world through the internet, so he didn't appear too uneducated.

He searched around and indeed found the satellite set-top box remote under the coffee table.

Lin Yi picked up the remote and began switching channels.

"Satellite TV is great, so many channels."

Lin Yi went through dozens of channels without seeing a single repeat.

"This channel belongs to an adult category and has parental locks enabled. Please enter the password. Default password: 000000."

When Lin Yi switched to a certain channel, this prompt appeared on the screen.

No way?

Does this girl's house have an adult channel?

Lin Yi had long heard that "big satellite dishes" could receive certain special programs, but he had never actually seen them.

Although Widow Wang at the end of the village also had satellite TV, she could only receive free provincial satellite channels; special channels like this were impossible.

Lin Yi felt a surge of curiosity. He wondered if Chu Pengzhan had set the password, or was it the young lady Chu Mengyao? Or perhaps Chen Yushu?

*Hmm, quite possible. That girl looks a bit flirtatious, and her way of speaking is quite progressive...* Lin Yi thought mischievously.

He casually entered the password: "123456." The TV prompted: "Incorrect password, please re-enter."

"888888," Lin Yi tried another. The TV still prompted: "Incorrect password, please re-enter."

Lin Yi scratched his head and entered "000000" this time. This time, instead of an error message, the screen seemed to freeze, as if it were either verifying the password or had crashed.

Just as Lin Yi was about to press another button to check, an image appeared on the screen!
