Chapter 19: Do You Like Eating That Much?

“Your water!”

After pouring the water, Lin Yi returned to the dining area next to the kitchen, only to suddenly find that Chu Mengyao had sat down in his previous seat at some point and was eating his noodles...

“Hey, Sister Yao Yao said the noodles you cooked for us are delicious!”

Chen Yushu turned around to take the water cup Lin Yi handed her, then gave him a glare, signaling him not to speak recklessly.

“Oh...”

Lin Yi nodded blankly, understanding Chen Yushu's meaning. He just hadn't eaten enough yet; had he known, he would have cooked a bit more!

“What are you doing standing there? You're making me lose my appetite just by standing there!”

Chu Mengyao hadn't noticed the subtle interaction between Lin Yi and Chen Yushu. Seeing him standing there without moving, she frowned immediately.

Chu Mengyao didn't have the habit of having a man watch her eat.

Lin Yi turned around, left the dining area, and headed toward his room.

There was no need to get angry at a young lady like her. In comparison, although Chen Yushu was a bit mischievous, she was much easier to get along with than Chu Mengyao.

Lin Yi planned to go back and organize his schoolbag. Although he had already completed the high school curriculum through self-study, he still had to put on an appearance for his first day of school, right?

In truth, Chen Yushu wasn't fat; she was just shorter than Chu Mengyao, which made her appear slightly more voluptuous.

Fortunately, the extra weight went to her chest and hips, which gave Chen Yushu a little sense of pride.

“Don't mention him.”

Chu Mengyao greedily licked the noodle soup off her chopsticks, looking somewhat regretful.

Asking her to go beg Lin Yi? In her dreams.

Seeing Chu Mengyao's action, several black lines of exasperation immediately appeared on Chen Yushu's forehead.

After the two finished their noodles, they ran upstairs to wash up and change clothes. Meanwhile, Lin Yi went to the dining room to clear the dishes from the table.

Of course, he didn't actually need to clean these things; every day during the daytime, Uncle Fu would send servants to clean the villa.

However, Lin Yi was used to doing these things at home and didn't find anything wrong with it.

While Lin Yi was washing the dishes, General Mightiness slipped into the kitchen. Upon seeing Lin Yi, the dog glared at him with hostile, wide eyes, watching him warily.

Lin Yi couldn't be bothered with this silly dog. Seeing that Lin Yi was ignoring him, General Mightiness, having gained nothing from his attempt, glared at Lin Yi for a while before turning and walking away.

Since Lin Yi hadn't made any aggressive moves, General Mightiness didn't dare to provoke him easily.

Once the dishes were washed and placed in the sterilization cabinet, Chu Mengyao and Chen Yushu had finished washing up and had changed from their loungewear into beautiful clothes.

Although school regulations stated that students should wear uniforms unless there were special circumstances, few people actually followed this rule, especially since high schoolers tended to be more independent and less obedient than elementary schoolers.

There were exceptions, of course, such as Lin Yi.

Feeling the fabric of the school uniform, Lin Yi was very happy. The quality was excellent, much better than the few clothes he had brought with him.

At seven o'clock sharp, Uncle Fu's car appeared at the villa entrance. Chu Mengyao and Chen Yushu left the villa carrying cute little schoolbags, while Lin Yi followed behind them.

Lin Yi sat in the passenger seat as usual, with Chu Mengyao and Chen Yushu in the back. Uncle Fu slowly started the car and asked Lin Yi beside him, "How is it? Are you getting used to it?"

"It's fine," Lin Yi replied with a nod.

"He's fine, but I'm not!"

Before Uncle Fu could speak, Chu Mengyao spoke up indignantly, "I'm going to call Daddy right now."

"Mr. Chu went to New Port City for a meeting this morning and is currently on a plane," Uncle Fu said. "Miss Chu, Mr. Chu gave instructions before he left. He said that during the days he is away, he wants Lin Yi to be responsible for looking after you."

"Him?! Looking after me?"

Chu Mengyao's eyes widened. "Uncle Fu, look at him! How could he possibly look after me?"

"I am merely relaying Mr. Chu's words. Mr. Chu has a great deal of trust in Mr. Lin Yi."

Uncle Fu actually couldn't figure out what was so special about Lin Yi, but as a close confidant of Chu Pengzhan, he would unconditionally support the Chairman's decisions.

Chu Mengyao pouted. She knew that Uncle Fu was merely her father's representative and would not do anything to go against her father's decisions.

And since her father was on a plane right now, he certainly wouldn't be able to answer the phone. Thinking of this, Chu Mengyao could only endure it for now.

*I'll just put up with this jerk for a few days. We'll see after Father gets back.*

*When the time comes, I'll use my "coquettishness" technique—I'm not afraid of not being able to drive Lin Yi away!*

Thinking of this, Chu Mengyao felt a bit more relaxed.

Lin Yi had actually wanted to experience campus life for a long time, but in the small mountain village where he lived, there were no schools, and there weren't even many literate people.

Lin Yi shook his head. "Uncle Fu, let's not beat around the bush. I can see that my presence is essentially optional, and Chu Mengyao doesn't actually need a study companion like me. Can you tell me the truth—what exactly did Mr. Chu pay such a large sum to hire me for? It's not really to make me a shield for Chu Mengyao to clear out the flies around her, is it?"
