The Rise of a Hegemon

Chapter 29: Facing the Sea, with Spring Blossoms Everywhere

After returning home, Lin Haoran washed up and went straight to his bedroom, falling into a deep sleep early.

Having lived in this world for nearly a month, he had long since integrated into his new identity; the strangeness and unease of his arrival had quietly faded away.

The next day, it wasn't until after nine in the morning that he emerged from his bedroom with a hint of laziness, yawning, his face brimming with anticipation for the new day.

The Lin family villa was exquisitely designed, standing majestically with four floors above ground and a quiet, deep basement level.

Lin Haoran's residence was located on the top floor of the mansion, a loft space full of character.

Since his parents preferred the warmth and convenience of the second floor, and his eldest brother, Lin Haining, occupied a world of his own on the third floor, Lin Haoran had naturally settled on the fourth floor.

It is worth mentioning that although Lin Haoran's two elder sisters had long since married, their rooms were still carefully preserved on the second floor, as if always welcoming them back for a rest.

Although his eldest brother Lin Haining had moved out, his room was also still kept, and Lin Haoran would not occupy their rooms.

For Lin Haoran, he did not mind the height of the floor at all; on the contrary, he had a special fondness for this place.

The reason was simple: beyond the fourth floor lay a spacious and bright terrace.

The terrace held a privileged position, facing the vast, boundless ocean, offering an expansive view and pleasant scenery.

Not only was it arranged to be full of life, with over a dozen pots of colorful flowers and plants, but a comfortable beach chair had also been specially placed there, accompanied by an exquisite sun umbrella.

Lin Haoran had a special affection for this terrace; it had almost become his private sanctuary. Aside from the domestic helper occasionally coming up to clean, almost no one disturbed him.

Whenever he wanted to escape the hustle and bustle and seek a moment of tranquility, he would come to the terrace and lie leisurely in the beach chair.

Closing his eyes and letting the sea breeze gently brush against his cheeks, carrying the salty scent of the sea and the freshness of distant flora, he felt as if he could sense the breath of the ocean, becoming one with nature.

In his past life, many had dreamed of the beautiful life of "facing the sea, with flowers blooming in the warmth of spring," and Lin Haoran, in this world, had unexpectedly realized this wish.

While enjoying breakfast in the first-floor dining room, Lin's mother told him gently, "If you have nothing urgent this morning, don't rush to go out. Your second sister will be bringing your nephew back here later."

Lin Haoran nodded with a smile, having nothing on his mind; today was a perfect day to leisurely wait at home for his second sister's arrival.

After breakfast, Lin Haoran walked into the villa's backyard. At that moment, the brothers Li Weiguo and Li Weidong, along with his father's personal bodyguard Old Zhang, were sweating profusely while performing their morning exercises in the yard.

As a senior, Old Zhang occasionally passed down some experience to the two brothers.

Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, dappling their resolute figures and making them appear exceptionally vivid.

In Lin Haoran's memory, whenever it was the weekend and his father had no special business to attend to, his father always chose to stay home to spend warm time with his mother.

Old Zhang, this loyal bodyguard, had silently guarded Father Lin for over ten years. His presence had long become an indispensable part of the Lin family; the passage of time had not diminished his alertness and efficiency, but had instead added a touch of steadiness and composure.

The Lin villa was specially equipped with various types of exercise equipment to ensure the bodyguards could maintain peak physical condition to deal with any possible situation.

Since being selected as Lin Haoran's bodyguards, the brothers Li Weiguo and Li Weidong also persisted in exercising every day.

"Good morning, Young Master."

"Good morning, Young Master!"

Seeing Lin Haoran, the three men currently exercising stopped their movements one after another to greet him.

"Mm, good morning to you too. Keep going, don't mind me," Lin Haoran greeted them with a smile, then began his own exercise alone.

Though his movements were not as professional or high-intensity as those of the three bodyguards, they appeared relaxed and natural.

"Young Master, the Second Miss has returned. The Madam asked me to come and call you over," a servant reported hurriedly while Lin Haoran was immersed in his workout.

Hearing this, he immediately stopped his movements and responded with a smile, "Alright, I'll go now."

Stepping into the hall, laughter and cheerful voices already filled the entire space, overflowing with warmth and joy.

"Uncle!" A sturdy little boy suddenly darted out from the crowd, running excitedly toward Lin Haoran.

Seeing this, an even brighter smile bloomed on Lin Haoran's face. He strode forward, scooped the little boy up high, spun him around once, and laughed, "Yo, my little nephew! How long has it been, and you've grown so much sturdier!"

At the same time, Lin Haoran turned around, his gaze landing tenderly on the elegant lady sitting on the sofa.

She was in her early thirties, with a gentle countenance and a graceful, full figure; she was none other than his long-lost second sister, Lin Yiyi.

"Second Sister, long time no see." Holding his little nephew, Lin Haoran's lips curled into a warm smile, greeting Lin Yiyi with eyes full of affection.

"You brat, I heard from Mommy that you've been back from the UK for three months and haven't come to see your second sister even once. You really have no conscience; I've been spoiling you for nothing all these years," Lin Yiyi said with a mock angry laugh, but her bright eyes were full of doting love for her brother.

In the depths of Lin Haoran's memory, his second and third sisters had always doted on him specially. As the child who arrived later in the family, he had grown up under their meticulous care.

As for his eldest brother, Lin Wan'an, in Lin Haoran's memory, he had originally been an elder brother who took quite good care of him. However, ever since the eldest brother entered the halls of marriage, his personality seemed to undergo a subtle change overnight; that former intimacy and care seemed to gradually fade, even becoming somewhat distant.

Holding his little nephew, Lin Haoran walked over to them and sat on the sofa, listening to them chat about family matters.

In the tradition of wealthy families, marriages were sought between families of equal status. His second sister naturally followed this path, marrying into the prominent Zhu family of Hong Kong with great fanfare several years ago.

As the power behind the Hengguang Real Estate Group, the Zhu family's strength was even more substantial than the Lin family's. The Hengguang Real Estate Group they controlled had a market value exceeding 300 million Hong Kong dollars and held significant influence in the business world.

At noon, after finishing the meal, the second sister chose to stay on the first floor to have a warm conversation with Father and Mother Lin about her family affairs, while Lin Haoran took his five-year-old nephew to the fourth-floor terrace to play.

A long time later, the second sister came up from downstairs, and said gently to her son, "Baby, go downstairs to keep company with Grandpa and Grandma; Mommy needs to talk to your little uncle to discuss something."

"Second Sister, you've called me here; is there something special you want to talk about?"

After the little nephew was led downstairs by a servant, Lin Haoran moved two comfortable chairs from inside the house to the terrace, and the two of them sat side by side, gazing out at the distant, shimmering sea. A gentle sea breeze brushed by, bringing a touch of coolness and tranquility.
