The First Night of the Substitute Bride's Military Life: The Ascetic Tycoon Drops His Act
Chapter 6: Sliced Noodles
"Let's go inside to talk."
The small two-story villa assigned by Old Master Huo had a living room downstairs, fully furnished with sofas and everything else. Wen Ci took a few glances around the room.
She had thought the 1980s would be very backward, completely different from what she had imagined.
"What is it you want to tell me?"
Wen Ci bit her lip, feeling inexplicably nervous. She took a deep breath, met Huo Jingyuan's deep, piercing gaze, and spoke slowly
"Actually, I am not really a daughter of the Jiang family. My real name is Wen Ci."
The original owner's name in the countryside was the same as hers.
"What do you mean?" Huo Jingyuan frowned.
Wen Ci continued to explain: "But I am also considered a daughter of the Jiang family. When I was born, the family's nanny swapped me with her own daughter.
I was raised in the countryside and had no education.
It wasn't until a few days ago that I was brought back to the capital from the countryside."
As she said this, tears welled up in Wen Ci's eyes uncontrollably, and one could hear from her voice that she had suffered many grievances since she was a child.
Huo Jingyuan roughly understood what Wen Ci meant.
Wen Ci was also a daughter of the Jiang family.
It was just that she had been swapped at birth and raised in the countryside.
Seeing Wen Ci shedding tears, Huo Jingyuan felt a bit at a loss.
He had never seen a delicate woman cry before.
Huo Jingyuan didn't know how to comfort her. After hesitating for a long time, he reached out to wipe the tears from her face, his expression exceptionally serious. His bobbing Adam's apple betrayed the nervousness in his heart.
"It doesn't matter. I don't care, Comrade Wen Ci."
Huo Jingyuan spoke the truth.
He hadn't really met the Jiang family's daughter anyway.
At the very least, the woman in front of him had left a very good impression on him.
Wen Ci stared straight at his alluring Adam's apple, her eyes slightly lifted, her heart beating like a drum. She couldn't wait any longer.
Perhaps it was because she had worked so hard fighting zombies.
That God had rewarded her with such a high-quality man.
"Do you really not mind?" Wen Ci asked, knowing the answer.
"I don't mind."
After Wen Ci confessed her situation, she felt much more at ease. She looked at Huo Jingyuan's handsome face and couldn't help but smile broadly.
"Since we are already married, I want to tell you about my family situation." As he spoke, Huo Jingyuan took out a photograph from the drawer of the bookcase and handed it to Wen Ci, saying calmly
"This is my family portrait. My parents are researchers. After they had me, they went on a classified mission, so I was raised at my grandfather's house."
Wen Ci looked down at the photo in her hand, which showed a young couple holding a baby, then immediately looked up at Huo Jingyuan.
Huo Jingyuan looked like his mother, especially around the eyes and brows.
Wen Ci smiled and said, "Your mother is very beautiful."
Huo Jingyuan sat down beside Wen Ci, suddenly thought of something, looked up, and smiled: "Comrade Wen Ci, we are married now, you can't call her 'Auntie'."
"We haven't had the tea for the formal address yet."
After the two had finished confiding in each other, Wen Ci's stomach let out an uncooperative growl. Her eyes brightened as she looked at him, and she licked her slightly dry lips: "So, Comrade Huo, can we have noodles for lunch?"
"Sure." Having said that, Huo Jingyuan slowly stood up and rolled up his sleeves in a measured manner: "Do you want thin noodles or wide noodles?"
"Can we have knife-cut noodles?"
Huo Jingyuan went to the kitchen. He wasn't sure if there was still flour in the house. He lifted the lid of the flour jar and took a look; there wasn't much left, barely enough for one meal.
As for the side dishes for the knife-cut noodles, Huo Jingyuan had already thought it through.
There was a cafeteria in the military compound; he would see if there were any suitable vegetables.
If not, he would go to the cafeteria to borrow some vegetables to make it himself.
