The Empire Starts from the Fourth Calamity
Chapter 37: A New Legendary!
36. A New Legendary!
After walking a full circuit, several administrative staff members' notebooks were filled with notes. Tang Xiao walked over, patted Graham on the shoulder, and said, "Remember, this is how luxury villas are made. In the future, if there are any more 'great lords' to awaken, follow this exact standard. Make sure the service is impeccable, and the supplies must be fresh! Water them more, fertilize them frequently! If you run out of fertilizer, go ask the Department of Public Sanitation; they manage that massive manure collector, so there's as much fertilizer as you could ever need. In short, make sure they feel like they are embracing nature and experience what true luxury is!"
"Yes, yes! I will certainly follow your instructions!" Graham nodded hurriedly in agreement.
Graham worked very efficiently. By the time Tang Xiao walked out of the villa, he saw people already beginning to collect wild flowers and vines from outside to be transported in.
"What's over there? Are there any large-scale construction plans in the city recently?" Tang Xiao asked casually, pointing toward several tower cranes erected at the foot of the mountain ahead.
"Well, we plan to build a firearms factory in the industrial zone over there. It will produce our Type 21 assault rifles, along with matching 5.56mm caliber ammunition and 30mm caliber grenade launchers," Graham replied.
"Are you not considering laser guns? We also captured some blaster pistols before, right? Can they be mass-produced?" Tang Xiao asked.
"That was Chief of Staff Qi Jian's decision after comparing the pros and cons of several firearms. As for laser guns, the infrared laser wavelengths we currently master are too long, causing too much scattering within the atmosphere, so the effect isn't good. While blasters are excellent, after technical analysis, our technicians found that the ammunition for these weapons is a peculiar highly flammable and explosive gas. This gas is far more volatile than gas, so until we can obtain this explosive gas stably, the production of blasters is impossible," Graham explained.
Tang Xiao nodded. He remembered that near the planet Rune, when that Farlin woman tried to pull a double-cross, they had completely suppressed those bounty hunters using blaster pistols by relying on the high rate of fire of their assault rifles.
So, whether it was bullets or blasters, a good weapon is simply one that can kill. Although kinetic weapons are extremely effective against the partial shields found in the *Star Wars* universe, the Fourth Civilization's army wouldn't be fighting enemies with shields all day long, right?
If the day ever comes when every gang member and pirate is equipped with a personal shield, and the Fourth Civilization still hasn't reformed its weaponry, then they'll have it coming.
After staying in Dawn City for one night, Tang Xiao, accompanied by the T-850, found a scenic spot to sit and gaze at the distant landscape.
As a side note, the T-850 currently following him was a brand-new unit; the previous one was undergoing repairs in the mothership's production workshop due to heavy damage.
Tang Xiao took a deep breath, feeling the essence of nature. He had previously discovered that the Force within his body recovered extremely quickly in such environments. Conversely, in space, his Force would be somewhat affected and recover much more slowly.
Furthermore, he noticed that he had gained more insights into the use of the Force recently, and it seemed that when his emotions were more intense, the Force within him also became more volatile.
Tang Xiao did not want this. He did not want to be led by his emotions; otherwise, he might do many impulsive things.
One must never let emotions dictate their actions at any time—especially given his current position. In a fit of rage, he might truly cause thousands of corpses to float across a thousand miles!
He sat down cross-legged; it was a subconscious choice. He had often seen monks meditating like this in the past, and perhaps it would help him concentrate his mind.
Feeling nature... feeling the earth, the air, the grass, the forests, the startled flocks of birds, and the scurrying animals.
"Administrator," the low, mechanical voice of the T-850 rang out, "You have been meditating for 4 hours. During this time, you received 2 calls from Graham, 4 calls from the Main Brain, and 1 call from Clement."
Tang Xiao opened his eyes and exhaled a breath of turbid air. With a gentle wave of his hand, a stone flew into his palm, and he caught it steadily. Satisfied with his performance, he smiled slightly and said, "Connect me to the Main Brain."
The T-850 placed a wireless headset on Tang Xiao. Then, the voice of the Main Brain came through: [Administrator, another Legendary figure has met the awakening conditions. They can be awakened now.]
Tang Xiao's eyes lit up. "Understood. I will return to the mothership via transport ship immediately!"
On the way back, Tang Xiao impatiently opened the personnel list, eager to see which Legendary figure could be awakened.
He had already figured out a pattern: those Legendary figures were all characters from movies, television shows, and games he had watched in the past! Most of these characters were pivotal figures in their respective worlds, almost all of them possessing extremely high levels of skill in their unique fields.
Take Vent, whom he had awakened previously. His masterful spaceship piloting skills allowed him to maneuver a YT-1000 light freighter through a blockade of three Consular-class cruisers and dozens of Vulture droid starfighters to break through the lines and escape!
Moreover, although the time was short, Vent seemed to possess a natural talent for getting along with everyone around him. Regardless of their faction or race, he always used his unique charm and humor to bridge gaps and obtain the intelligence he desired.
It was only because the Fourth Civilization was currently in a state of rebuilding that Vent was largely held back, unable to roam freely through the galaxy. However, Tang Xiao believed that when Vent was soaring through the galaxy, he might bring unexpected and massive rewards!
Thus, Tang Xiao had been hesitating. He wanted to awaken a Legendary figure who was incredibly dangerous yet incredibly powerful, but he was deterred by the sheer intimidation of that thunderous name.
Now, before he could even muster the courage to negotiate with that person, a second Legendary figure could be awakened! This was a surprise within a surprise!
However, as he used the chip implanted in his brain to link with the mothership's system, opened the awakening list, and saw that name among the Legendary figures, the smile on his face gradually froze.
He knew this person, of course.
And this person naturally possessed immense power in their field.
But this person... was gray.
It wasn't that the person was inherently evil; in fact, they weren't bad at all and were actually quite easy to get along with. But the things they did brought about the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. And they could control the life and death of even more!
Not through armies, nor through political power, but through... transactions.
They walked the line between justice and evil, between light and darkness. They were in a constant struggle with their own desires, and every single time, they succumbed to them. Yet, on the path toward darkness, every step they took was met with immense pain and regret, even as they continued to walk forward, step by step, without hesitation.
