Chapter 9: The Witch's Contract
After the blood on her arm was wiped clean, the large puncture wound on Senior Lilith's arm remained, but it was no longer bleeding.
"Lilith!" the senior said, clearly dissatisfied. "Afternoon tea!"
"Alright, Senior Tracy, for the sake of afternoon tea!" Lilith surrendered.
In the next instant, the gruesome puncture wound on her arm healed and closed up, leaving not a single trace behind.
Moran even suspected that the reason such a large puncture wound had been left was that Senior Lilith had intentionally torn it open. After all, while the Bloodthirsty Needle was not small, a single prick shouldn't have left such a gaping hole.
This healing ability was not something a typical witch should possess.
Furthermore, she could control her body's healing at will.
Even a Witch could not do this.
"This is an ability I gained after my first attempt at using the Bloodthirsty Needle to inject vampire blood. Currently, I can only control the healing of a wound about the size of a coin," Lilith explained. "Analyzing and fusing blood to benignly remodel my own body—that is the ability of the Bloodthirsty Needle that I have discovered so far. However, I am currently low on mana, so it will be some time before I can attempt a second fusion."
Ignoring the somewhat bloody nature of the demonstration, this ability was simply too useful!
No wonder they said a Witch's talent manifestation was incredibly powerful!
The little witches all showed expressions of envy.
Even Moran and Sylph were no exception.
The two of them didn't even know what the functions of their own talent manifestations were yet!
"So? My talent manifestation is impressive, isn't it?" Lilith asked with a smile.
The little witches nodded one after another.
"Do you want to have one too?" Lilith asked again.
The little witches nodded again.
"Then, once I have developed my first Witch Magic, remember to sign a contract with me, okay? That way, you can also enhance your strength through bloodline fusion! You'll only need to pay a tiny bit of magic power, or mana," Lilith coaxed them.
That dangerous aura returned to her, making her feel like she wasn't quite a "good person."
Any little witch present who had read the *Little Witch Series* knew what Witch Magic was.
Witch Magic did not belong to the conventional magic schools. It was a special type of magic summarized by a Witch while developing the abilities of her talent manifestation.
The core was the Witch herself.
For example, Book Magic, Contract Magic, and Firework Magic were all Witch Magics developed by the three Great Witches respectively.
In the beginning, Witches had no way to share their special magic, and others could not learn it. This continued until the Contract Witch summarized Contract Magic.
From then on, Witches could use contracts to share their special magic directly with others, while simultaneously collecting a portion of the contractor's power for their own use.
A Witch's mana was originally the most primordial power, capable of transforming into any characteristic of power, and other powers could also be condensed into mana. A contract was one of the ways a Witch could earn extra mana.
However, only the Witch race had the complete means to sign contracts with a Witch.
Although the Witch Magic obtained through a contract was much weaker when cast compared to the Witch herself, it was still infinitely useful. Witches also saw a massive increase in their individual strength thanks to Witch Magic.
Senior Lilith was likely running low on mana, which was why she was so eager to promote her Witch Magic.
It had to be said, her sales pitch was effective.
Moran was already tempted by this ability to control bodily healing. Once fully researched, it would undoubtedly be a life-saving treasure!
Furthermore, when a Witch used another Witch's magic, the reduction in power was relatively small, allowing them to exert seventy to eighty percent of its effect.
She wondered what kind of abilities her Book of Cards could develop!
Having finished her pitch, Lilith returned to the main topic
"Actually, the appearance of a talent manifestation can reflect some basic abilities. Just as my Bloodthirsty Needle looks like a syringe, it can extract blood. Vasidat's talent manifestation is a stomach, so her abilities are likely related to that. Just now, when she manifested her stomach, her mana was being consumed rapidly. Once mana is consumed to a certain extent, one will feel physical weakness. This might be why she gets hungry so quickly. When she eats, her mana gradually replenishes. I suspect Vasidat's stomach might involve abilities related to digestion or energy conversion; she will have to experiment and explore that herself. You all can also think about whether there have been any abnormalities in your lives; this might guide you in exploring your talent manifestations' abilities."
Moran and Sylph looked at each other, carefully recalling their experiences growing up, trying to find any connection to their talent manifestations.
Sylph raised her hand and said hesitantly, "Does being exceptionally good at planting things count? Anything I plant has never died. But my mother is a Green Witch skilled in plant magic, and my father is a Wood Elf, so I always thought it might be the influence of my bloodline. And my talent manifestation is a seed box, which only contains a single Bellflower seed."
"Then there's a high probability that your talent manifestation's ability is related to plants!" Lilith said.
Sylph was inspired. "I'll try to plant this Bellflower seed and see!"
Compared to Sylph, Moran was somewhat troubled.
If one were to talk about her "abnormalities," there were far too many.
Did being sent away from Blue Star count?
Did transmigrating count?
Did having exceptionally good memory due to carrying the memories of a planet count?
They all seemed like abnormalities, but none of them seemed to have anything to do with the Book of Cards.
She had played with poker and tarot cards in her past life and had read many novels about cards, but that didn't provide her with any inspiration either.
Just as Moran was at her wit's end, Vasidat finally felt full.
"It seems I really do get hungry faster than before. Luckily, the food at the Witch Academy is abundant and never-ending! Otherwise, I might have actually starved to death."
"That's not necessarily true. It says here that after the entrance banquet, the academy won't provide three meals a day, only daily ingredients," said a little witch sitting diagonally across from Moran.
By now, all the other first-year little witches had finished eating. Some were watching Vasidat and Moran's discussion, while others had begun reading the *New Student Guide* distributed by Ms. Amisha.
Moran remembered her name was Cheryl. Her height stood in stark contrast to Vasidat's. Vasidat was so short she looked several years younger than them, whereas Cheryl was long-limbed and nearly as tall as the fifth-year seniors.
Because of the height difference, Vasidat also remembered her name and hurriedly asked, "What do you mean? The academy won't provide three meals a day anymore?"
"To be precise, they won't provide any cooked or processed food. The ingredients are still provided," Cheryl said.
