Chapter 17: Bi'er's Gift
Chapter 17: Bi'er's Gift
In the farmland, two hunched figures, moving stealthily and suspiciously, were exceptionally conspicuous.
The little pixie, who was directing the large butterflies to transport crops, caught sight of them. She nonchalantly straightened her little dress, then fluttered her wings and vanished into thin air.
"Eh? Where did the pixie go?" Sylph, looking up to confirm their direction, asked in confusion.
Moran also looked up: "The big butterflies are still here, but the pixie seems to have disappeared!"
"Are you two looking for me?"
A crisp voice drifted from behind them.
Moran and Sylph turned their heads stiffly: "!!!"
Iridescent wings, grass-colored hair, emerald eyes, a delicate complexion, and pink lips... if she wasn't a pixie, what was she?
"Hello! I'm a newly enrolled little witch. You can call me Sylph. I'm so sorry for disturbing you... You are truly so cute! Even cuter than the pixies drawn in books!"
A voice so sweet it was nauseating poured from Sylph's mouth, making Moran rub her arms.
The pixie was indeed cute, but Sylph's reaction was far too exaggerated!
Not only was her voice sickeningly sweet, but her eyes were practically turning into hearts.
If Sylph's previous gentleness was at a factor of one, her current demeanor toward the pixie was a hundred, even a thousand times more gentle.
She looked exactly like a perverted mother who wanted to pack the pixie up and steal her home to take care of.
The pixie seemed to take it well: "Hello, Sylph!"
She then looked at Moran.
"I'm Moran!" Moran said.
"Hello, Moran!"
"Welcome to the planting area! I am Bi'er, the apprentice management pixie of Field No. 8!"
The pixie's voice became even more crisp and pleasant: "Don't worry, I'm not like my kin who are afraid of being disturbed! It's a pleasure to meet you, two equally cute little witches! This is for you!"
She fluttered her wings, and two small leaf bundles landed in the hands of Moran and Sylph.
As the leaves unfolded, several fresh raspberries were revealed inside.
Sylph was overwhelmed by the kindness: "Thank you, Bi'er!"
"No need for thanks. I like the aura you carry. Whenever you have time, come to the fields to talk to me and tell me stories about the outside world. I've lived in the Witch Academy since I was born, and I've heard the outside world is incredibly interesting..." Bi'er said with a look of longing.
"Okay!" Sylph agreed without hesitation.
Moran realized then—she was just a pixie curious about the outside world!
"Alright! I must go! Next time you come here, just call my name and I will appear! Goodbye, Sylph! Goodbye, Moran!"
"Goodbye!"
Bi'er fluttered her wings and once again concealed her presence.
This time, even the large butterflies dancing in the fields vanished.
Moran thought to herself that perhaps there were many other pixies working hard in the fields, they just hadn't shown themselves yet.
Sylph's excitement remained undiminished: "The books say that pixies rarely appear; they only show themselves to those they like. This means Bi'er likes us very much! Do you think if we tell her more stories about the outside world, we might have a chance to receive a pixie's blessing?"
"Maybe!" Moran was even feeling a bit tempted: "Having a pixie help manage the garden and herb fields would save a lot of trouble! It's a pity I've lived in Emerald Creek Meadow since birth; regarding Valen, I can only talk about the meadows and waterbirds of Emerald Creek."
"I haven't left the Starlight Forest either, but my parents told me many stories. I'll go back and organize them, pick some fun ones, and tell them to Bi'er next time I come," Sylph said.
One coveted the pixie's abilities, while the other loved the pixie's appearance; they continued discussing how to increase Bi'er's favorability all the way to the ingredient collection point.
Inside the ingredient collection point, it looked similar to a supermarket from their previous lives, with large and small shelves piled high with ingredients. Many of them were things Moran had never seen before.
Two little witches were already inside the collection point. Their baskets were empty, suggesting they had also just arrived. They were huddled together talking, looking quite familiar in their excitement.
As Moran and Sylph walked over, they overheard words like "pixie" and "stories." They also held the exact same raspberries and leaves.
Moran and Sylph exchanged a glance: "Ais! Alba!"
The two little witches immediately hid the items behind their backs.
Sylph brought out her raspberries: "You met a pixie too?"
Ais and Alba: "Too?"
"The pixie you met wasn't also named Bi'er, was she?" Moran asked.
"You know Bi'er too?" Ais and Alba were extremely puzzled. "Don't pixies rarely appear?"
The four little witches compared notes and found their experiences were almost identical.
They had all accidentally spotted a pixie in the fields, greeted her, and received a gift.
Bi'er told Moran and Sylph that she liked their aura and wanted them to tell her stories about the outside world. She told Ais she liked her passion for cooking, and told Alba that her hair was like a golden sun, so beautiful that the pixie couldn't look away, and that she wanted to be friends and hoped they would visit her often.
"This..."
They had all thought they were the lucky ones who encountered a rare pixie and gained her favor. They hadn't expected that, one after another, other little witches had also seen Bi'er.
The four of them were stunned.
Moran felt something wasn't quite right: "Do you think Bi'er appeared on purpose?"
Ais's eyes darted around: "Are you saying it wasn't that we disturbed her, but that she intentionally appeared to attract us so she could get to know us?"
Moran nodded.
"Don't pixies only appear before people they truly like?" Alba said. "The *Little Witch Series* says that once a pixie appears before a person, it means she has the intention to bestow a pixie's blessing!"
"Perhaps this pixie just likes a lot of people?" Moran suggested.
"Are you talking about Bi'er?" Senior Lilith had arrived at some unknown point.
"Senior, you know her too?" Moran asked.
"Every little witch in the academy knows her! Since ten years ago, every little witch encounters Bi'er the first time they pass through the fields. All the little witches are her friends, and she has explicitly stated that she wants to bestow pixie blessings and sign contracts with witches. However, to this day, no little witch has moved her. Once a little witch asks about signing a contract, she is never seen again."
Lilith continued: "Everyone says that Bi'er might not want to sign contracts at all, but just wants to trick little witches into telling her stories. Gradually, fewer and fewer little witches go to see her. After all, studies are quite heavy, and no little witch has enough time to go to a pixie every day to tell stories, especially when they can't repeat them..."
