The competitive witch never admits defeat.
Chapter 4: 4. Chapter 4: Chapter of Talent
Chapter 4: The Chapter of Talent
The sensation of teleportation was, to put it mildly, not pleasant.
Moran felt as though she were a fragile piece of paper being crumpled and squeezed.
Her body felt twisted into a ball, rolling around in a "wastepaper basket," before being spat out like trash and landing on something soft.
The next moment, a cool, soothing sensation spread throughout her entire body, smoothing away the discomfort from the journey.
Moran stared at the bright crystal chandelier and the ancient black bricks on the ceiling, taking a good while to regain her senses.
In the air around her, black holes continued to appear, spitting out little witches about her own age.
Like dumplings being dropped into a pot, they landed beside her in all sorts of chaotic poses.
Every time a little witch fell, Moran felt the surface beneath her vibrate.
Looking down, she realized she was on a giant waterbed.
Moran: "..."
What an unexpected way to make an entrance.
Although it was a bit absurd, the cool, soothing sensation continuously flowing from the waterbed into her body was so comfortable that she had no desire to get up.
Seeing that the other little witches were also lying there motionless, as if stunned by the fall, Moran lay back down with even more peace of mind.
Hiding in the crowd was the safest way to be.
"Pfft, haha!"
"How long do you think they'll stay lying there?"
"I kind of want to go lie down again myself."
"Who can resist Ms. Amisha's magic waterbed? Especially after such a rough teleportation!"
"And they're all first-timers, too!"
...
Moran looked toward the source of the voices and locked eyes with the upperclassmen, who were whispering and trying to suppress their laughter.
The red-haired girl at the front even licked her lips while looking at her, slightly revealing dangerous, sharp fangs.
Moran felt too embarrassed to keep lying down, so she nimbly sat up.
However, getting off the bed wasn't really an option; she was right in the middle, surrounded by other little witches, and more black holes were still appearing, dropping off new arrivals.
Fortunately, she wasn't the only one feeling awkward. Moran silently turned her head so that the back of her head faced the upperclassmen. *Can't see me, can't see me... Hmm? What's this?*
On the other side of the waterbed stood an adult witch in a black gown.
Floating beside her was a staff as tall as she was, and the magical glow from the colorful gemstone at its tip was connected to the waterbed.
Without a doubt, this magical waterbed was the product of her magic.
Moran recognized her: the omnipotent witch who had transcended the peak, the head of the twelve apprentices of the Witch of Books, and the Dean of the Witch Academy for the past hundred years—Ms. Amisha.
She was undoubtedly the greatest witch beneath the rank of "Witch."
The *Little Witch Series* contained an entry about her.
For Moran, who had taken it upon herself to save the Blue Star, Ms. Amisha was the ultimate role model.
She, too, wanted to become a powerhouse like Ms. Amisha.
Ms. Amisha was holding a book and chanting, "...twenty-five, twenty-six, twenty-seven. Everyone is here!"
She snapped her fingers, the waterbed vanished, and Moran and the other little witches were placed steadily on the ground.
"Little witches, welcome to the Witch Academy.
Without further ado, the entrance ceremony begins now!"
Ms. Amisha waved her hand, causing the book in her hand to float to a height reachable by the little witches.
Under their puzzled gazes, she explained
"This is a replica of the *Book of the Witch Clan*. It projects the contents of the Chapter of Newborns, the Chapter of Talent, and the Chapter of the Academy.
When your name is called, come forward, test your talent, and sign the enrollment contract. Only then will you be officially enrolled."
Every little witch who had read the *Little Witch Series* had heard of the *Book of the Witch Clan* and the *Book of the Academy*.
Moran couldn't help but stare at the book.
It looked so ordinary, yet it was the legendary *Book of the Witch Clan*!
The *Book of the Witch Clan* was a magical book created by the Witch of Books, Tracy, modeled after her own talent manifestation—the Book of Omniscience—and based on the bloodline of witches.
The entire book was divided into different chapters: the Chapter of Newborns, which recorded the birth of little witches; the Chapter of Talent, which recorded a witch's aptitude; the Chapter of the Academy, which recorded a little witch's growth; the Chapter of Inheritance, which recorded witch magic; and the Chapter of Extinction, which recorded the passing of witches...
It was the greatest treasure of the witch race.
The original *Book of the Witch Clan* was kept by the Witch of Books, Lady Tracy, and only replicas were held by the Witch Council.
Even though this replica in Ms. Amisha's hands only contained the Chapter of Newborns, the Chapter of Talent, and the Chapter of the Academy, it was already an extraordinary existence to the little witches who had only ever seen written descriptions of it in the *Little Witch Series*.
What they were using now must be the Chapter of Talent, which could accurately test a witch's aptitude and help them choose their major.
The so-called entrance ceremony was actually a talent test, and the little witches suddenly became nervous.
Looking at her classmates, Moran realized that everyone's mothers were just like Shana—tight-lipped about the Witch Academy.
No little witch knew the specific details of the entrance ceremony.
Ms. Amisha had already begun calling names
"First, Alba!"
A little blonde witch walked onto the stage, looking nervous and uneasy.
The *Book of the Witch Clan* flipped rapidly to a certain page: "Just place your hand on it."
The little witch followed instructions, carefully placing her hand on the page while looking at the book nervously.
The little witches below stood on their tiptoes, but they could only see text floating on the page; they couldn't make out what it said.
Before long, a piece of parchment popped out of the book and landed in the little witch's hand.
"Outstanding talent in Light-element magic, and other elements are above the beginner level. Very good!"
Amisha flicked her fingers, and the *Book of the Witch Clan* flipped again: "Alright, sign the Chapter of the Academy! Remember to read the contract carefully. The clauses are protected by Lady Carmela, the Witch of Contracts. Any violation will result in a backlash."
The little witch was clearly satisfied with her results and nodded, blushing.
After reading the enrollment contract, she signed her name without hesitation.
"Second, Aish!"
...
As one little witch after another finished their tests, Moran learned from her classmates that the parchment contained a detailed talent report.
It clearly showed which elemental magic one excelled in and where their talent ceiling lay.
The *Little Witch Series* stated that the transcendents of Valen, including witches, were divided into six realms: Apprentice, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Peak, and Super-Peak.
Having outstanding talent in a certain elemental magic meant one had the potential to cultivate that element to the Advanced level or higher.
As for the elements one wasn't particularly talented in, one could still learn the basics if they wished.
Judging by the current test results, most little witches had outstanding talent in only one element.
Only a few had outstanding talent in multiple elements.
"Thirteenth, Moran!"
Hearing her name, Moran gave a start.
Under Ms. Amisha's encouraging gaze, she walked to the front of the *Book of the Witch Clan* and placed her hand on the Chapter of Talent.
