The competitive witch never admits defeat.
Chapter 48: Automatic Juicer
Chapter 48: Automatic Juicer
The little witches exited the castle from the east.
Today, the skies above the central mountain range where the castle sat seemed exceptionally lively.
Little witches on broomsticks were either circling in the air, whistling past, performing inverted maneuvers, or diving from great heights, drawing bursts of gasps and cheers.
"That's... Senior Quilin!" Ais said, pointing to a little witch sitting sideways on a broomstick.
Because they lived close to each other and were both witches interested in gourmet food and cooking, they were quite familiar and recognized her at a glance.
Moran and the others also saw Senior Lilith; she was performing various dangerous diving turns and maneuvers, having the time of her life.
"The seniors learned to fly so quickly?" Sylph remarked.
"Sigh! From now on, we'll really have to walk to the castle," Vasida said, consumed with envy.
"Hey! Class is over!" Lilith saw them and descended a bit. "Look at my broom, isn't it cool!"
The little witches nodded like pecking chickens.
Although the broom looked like a stick with some weeds tied to it and could hardly be called beautiful, it could fly! It was simply too cool!
"Hahaha!" Lilith laughed heartily. "I'm going to go fly a few more laps!"
After a while, the third-year seniors also joined in.
While the seniors flew in the sky, the first-year little witches walked on the ground, participating in the seniors' excitement through their eyes.
Watching the excited seniors, Moran knew that her card sales among the second-years wouldn't be great today.
After descending the mountain, she took a detour to the ingredient collection point as usual, hoarding more ingredients to make breadfruit cakes and breadfruit juice.
When Moran saw the books in the library, the protagonist of tonight's cooking changed from breadfruit juice to breadfruit cakes.
She planned to make more breadfruit cakes, as they were more shelf-stable.
These were highly satiating; if cut into small pieces to be eaten one by one, a meal could be finished in less than a minute.
They were essentially essential convenience foods for the studying process.
Carrying the heavy basket, Moran panted and rested every ten steps. Every time she did, she felt a deep longing for Levitation and Spatial Storage spells.
In the past, she could only long for them; now, she could see if she could create cards like that.
This was what it meant for inspiration to stem from life.
Driven by the impulse to design spatial cards, Moran walked a bit faster.
After returning to the dormitory to drop off her things, she made several trips back to the breadfruit grove, picking a large pile of breadfruit that filled up the storage room.
Once all the ingredients were prepared, Moran summoned the Book of Cards.
Opening the Book of Cards, the first page was the {Book of Cards} card itself, with a small number "1" in the bottom right corner.
This represented the quantity of this card she had produced.
On the second page, under {Character Card - Apprentice}, the number was "60."
Both the Blue Star Chinese version and the Witch language version of the cards could be found here.
If the cover of the Book of Cards was used to store energy and create cards, then the internal pages served as a manual to house, record, and query card information.
Since she had designed and produced only two types of cards, she could only flip through the first two pages; the rest remained as thick as a brick, unopenable.
Moran took out the {Book of Cards} card and used its "Card Design" function to begin designing.
[Card Design: Hand-cranked Juicer] [Estimated Consumption: 0.01 Mana] [Estimated Appearance: Appearance Template 1] [Estimated Function: Turn the handle of the hand-cranked machine to extract juice and separate juice from pulp.]
This was her idea from last night; the function was exactly the same as the hand-cranked juicer in her memories of planet Blue Star.
She hadn't expected the energy consumption for production to be only 0.01 Mana.
For the first time, Moran felt that Mana was incredibly durable; 1 Mana could produce 100 hand-cranked juicers.
This made her much bolder.
Why settle for a hand-cranked juicer when an automatic juicer would be so much better?
She redesigned it.
[Card Design: Automatic Juicer - 1 Mana Card-Rechargeable Version] [Estimated Consumption: 0.4 Mana] [Estimated Appearance: Appearance Template 1] [Estimated Function: Automatically extracts juice and separates juice from pulp. After use, it can be returned to a card for recharging. The card can store up to 1 Mana or other energy equivalent to 1 Mana as a power source.]
This recharging method was inspiration Moran had gained from the books in the library.
The consumption was forty times higher, but to Moran, it was just pocket change.
But she wasn't done yet; she also tested a direct-recharge version of the juicer.
As well as versions that could store 1 Mana, 2 Mana, or 5 Mana, and versions that could have the card retrieved versus versions where the card was non-recoverable after use.
The cheapest versions were the direct-recharge, the 1-Mana version, and the non-recoverable automatic juicer cards, which could be made for 0.2 Mana each.
She immediately imported the automatic juicer design template into the card slot.
Without any difficulty, she produced 2 {Automatic Juicer - Card Storage Rechargeable 2-Mana Version} cards.
Each consumed 0.5 Mana, perfectly exhausting the last 1 Mana of energy in her sapphire.
Two juicers were ready!
Moran took one to test it; it could completely replace the juicing work, and it was extremely fast.
In the past, making a pot of breadfruit juice required hours of pounding; now, it only took a few minutes.
How could she not share such a wonderful thing with her friends?
Other little witches might not need breadfruit juice, but Senior Lilith and the others would definitely use it.
Even a mosquito's leg is still meat!
Moran opened her dormitory door and shouted to the front and sides: "Senior Lilith~ Sylph~ Vasida~"
The doors to the adjacent dormitories opened, and Sylph and Vasida came out.
The window of the dormitory in front opened, and a red head poked out.
With everyone gathered, Moran said, "I made too much juice! Want some?"
They all understood what kind of "juice" she meant.
Lilith, whose Mana was down to double digits, heard this and, without a word, climbed out of the window.
Vasida and Sylph also came over.
"Moran, you just got back to the dorm, and you've already made juice?" Vasida had just finished slicing the breadfruit and was starting to pound it!
"Of course, it's the effect of my new cards," Moran said.
"Wow! You made new cards again? Is it a card that makes juice quickly? Are you selling it?" Sylph's eyes lit up.
She also needed breadfruit juice, but she couldn't stand the process of pounding breadfruit. If she had that time and energy, she would rather go to the fields to chat with Brier or check on the bellflowers that hadn't sprouted in her flowerpot yet.
"Of course I'm selling it!" Moran said.
Vasida also looked expectant. Only Lilith, upon hearing there were new cards for sale, immediately retracted her leg that had stepped out of the backyard
"I suddenly remembered I didn't put my flying broom away properly, I'll go back and check!"
Noticing the senior was trying to slip away, Moran shouted loudly: "Starting at a super low price of 0.05 Mana!"
Lilith's retracted leg stepped out again: "I remembered wrong, my flying broom is parked quite well."
