The Blessed Wife with a Spatial Dimension Travels Back to the 1980s
Chapter 6: Hitting Someone
“Oh, okay.”
Nan Shuang understood her father’s actions.
It was just passing on a message; it didn’t matter. What she found annoying was that once Jiang Li found out, she would come over to make a scene, and there would be no peaceful days left.
Just as Nan Shuang had anticipated, once Jiang Li found out, she came charging over.
It happened to be Sunday, and Nan Shuang was at home studying. Since Nan Xing’s last visit, he had been running over on his own whenever he was on break.
He hadn’t told Jiang Li. When Jiang Li couldn’t find him at home and heard from a neighbor that Nan Xing had gone to see his father, she rushed over in a hurry.
As soon as she walked in and saw her children sitting there obediently doing their homework, her anger flared up.
She grabbed a stick from the fence and started beating Nan Shuang.
Nan Shuang hadn’t reacted at first, and by the time she did, she had already been struck several times.
Her current strength was not something Jiang Li could handle.
“Are you crazy?” With her body aching from the blows, even Nan Shuang’s good temper couldn’t help but explode.
“If you want to hit someone, hit your son. I belong to Dad; you have no right to hit me.” Nan Shuang understood that Jiang Li couldn’t bear to hit her son, and combined with her previous choice to live with her father, she was just venting her frustration.
Nan Xing was terrified and didn’t dare to go near his mother or sister; he hid in the house and cried.
“I’m your mother, don’t I have the right to hit you?” After saying this, Jiang Li raised the stick again to strike Nan Shuang.
Nan Shuang didn’t say a word; she caught the stick and snatched it away. “That’s right, you have no right to hit me.” Nan Shuang was not someone to be bullied so easily.
She was not the original owner of this body; she knew right from wrong.
With the stick in her hand, whether for the sake of the original owner or for the blows she had just received, Nan Shuang swung the stick back at Jiang Li.
Of course, she held back her strength and was careful about where she struck, ensuring no one would be able to tell.
“I’ll show you for hitting me! I’ll show you for hitting me!”
After a few strikes, Jiang Li was howling in pain.
“You dead girl, you actually dare to hit your mother!” Jiang Li didn’t treat Nan Shuang like a child at all; after being hit twice, she lunged at her daughter to brawl.
Nan Shuang held back her strength, ensuring she wouldn’t come out on the losing end.
When Wen Hao returned, he saw his daughter being pinned to the ground by Jiang Li.
He dropped what he was carrying, ran over, pulled Jiang Li away, and slapped her across the face.
“If anything happens to Nan Shuang, I’ll make you wish you were dead.” Having seen blood and storms in his life, his rage was terrifying.
Jiang Li was knocked to the ground by the slap, but she didn’t dare make a sound.
Wen Hao helped Nan Shuang up, his heart aching as he saw her dirty clothes.
“It’s all Dad’s fault for leaving you two at home.” He had been thinking that since Nan Xing was over, he would go buy some good food; both his son and daughter were his children, and he wouldn’t favor one over the other.
“Dad, I’m fine. I hit her back too,” Nan Shuang said, smiling through tears while clutching the parts of her body that hurt the most.
Seeing his daughter like this, Wen Hao felt even more indebted.
But this wasn’t the time to comfort Nan Shuang. “Jiang Li, are you even human? She’s your own flesh and blood!” Looking at Jiang Li, Wen Hao felt like he could tear her apart.
“So what if she’s my own flesh and blood? She’s an ungrateful wretch! Look at what she’s done—she actually dared to hit me. I’m not finished with you!” After saying this, she charged at Nan Shuang again.
Now that Wen Hao was back, he wouldn’t let her be so insolent.
“Get out! Get out!” He didn’t hit women unless he couldn’t help it, but right now, he didn’t want to hit their mother in front of the children.
He was considering the children.
“I’ll leave when I want to! Do you think I wanted to come here? Nan Xing, get out here!” She had come here for her son in the first place.
Wen Hao couldn’t be bothered with his son at the moment; he just wanted this crazy woman to leave as soon as possible. He was more worried about Nan Shuang.
“Nan Xing is my son too. What’s wrong with him coming over to play for a day on the weekend?” Wen Hao actually didn’t want Nan Xing to go back with her.
“But he belongs to me!” Jiang Li shrieked like a madwoman.
Seeing his father back, Nan Xing slowly walked out of the house, crying as soon as he emerged.
“What are you crying for? Who told you to come here?” Jiang Li, having suffered a major loss, saw her son and immediately grabbed him, hitting him several times on the backside.
If it weren’t for Wen Hao being there, she might have hit him even harder.
“Wuu wuu, Mom, don’t hit my sister.” Whether intentional or not, he came out to play the hero after the fact. If he had the guts, he should have stood up when the fight was actually happening.
Nan Shuang looked at him with utter disdain.
Don’t think she didn’t know that he had hidden away when Jiang Li first arrived. Even when she was pinned to the ground, he hadn’t come out to help.
Therefore, Nan Shuang had seen the truth: this younger brother and she were not meant to be.
“Try hitting the child again, and I swear I won’t let you live to see tomorrow.” Wen Hao was a man who had traveled the mountains; when his fierce aura flared, even normal men were afraid, let alone a woman like Jiang Li.
“Hmph, don’t let my son come here again. If I find out, I’ll make a scene every single time. Let’s see who loses face then.” When she made her threats, Jiang Li’s gaze was fixed entirely on Nan Shuang, as if expecting something.
“You dare.”
“Just watch if I dare. You can’t guard her side every single day, can you?” After saying this, Jiang Li dragged Nan Xing out of the courtyard.
She felt terrible inside. She thought she had held the lifeblood of this father and daughter in her hands, but she hadn’t expected that in the blink of an eye, they had bought another house in town.
Even if it was just a single-story house, she found it hard to accept.
After they left, Wen Hao began to check Nan Shuang’s injuries.
“Nan Shuang did very well today. If she hits you again in the future, hit her back.” If he had returned any later, he didn’t know how much abuse Nan Shuang would have suffered.
Jiang Li was truly insane; she didn’t treat Nan Shuang like a daughter at all.
Wen Hao felt immense guilt toward his daughter.
“Dad, aren’t you mad that I fought back?” Nan Shuang asked timidly.
Wen Hao shook his head, his hands moving very gently. “Silly child, if others bully you and you still have to endure it, are you a turtle? If you aren’t, then don’t.” Looking at the red, swollen bruises on his daughter, he wanted to strangle Jiang Li.
“From now on, no matter who it is, if they bully you, you hit them back. If you can’t win, call your father.” Wen Hao didn’t think there was anything wrong with teaching his child this way.
Nan Shuang felt a warmth in her heart. “Mm, from now on, if I can’t win, I’ll come back and tell Dad.” It was truly a blessing to have her father’s love.
After the father and daughter finished tending to her injuries, Wen Hao went to pick up the things he had dropped on the ground.
“Nan Shuang, in a few days, Dad has to go on a long trip. It might take about half a month. Will you be okay at home by yourself?” Wen Hao had recently started a small business with Liang Zi and needed to go on a long journey.
He was actually quite worried about his daughter.
But for the sake of a better life in the future, he had to strive for it.
“Dad, go ahead. I’ll be fine by myself.” With her father away, she could practice her cultivation without having to be sneaky.
“Are you really sure?” Wen Hao looked worried.
“I’m sure.” Nan Shuang was full of certainty.
She was old enough; what was there to be afraid of?
“But Dad is still worried. How about this, I’ll have Auntie Yu come over to keep you company.” Wen Hao was still uneasy.
It just so happened that Liang Zi’s partner was at home, so it would be good to have her come over and help look after things.
Nan Shuang was stunned, but she quickly found the person “Auntie Yu” in her memories. “Doesn’t Auntie Yu have to work?” So she was Uncle Liang Zi’s partner.
Auntie Yu was a pitiful person. Her first husband had passed away without leaving her any children, and her in-laws hadn’t treated her well, kicking her out early on.
