Sword Emperor of the Nine Realms

Chapter 53: Looking Down on People with Dog Eyes

The Myriad Artifact Pavilion was bustling once again today, filled with martial artists.

As Chu Fengmian walked inside, he spoke directly to a young attendant at the entrance.

"Go call your manager over. I have business with him."

"Who are you, coming here to see our manager directly? Our manager is busy with countless affairs every day; he has no time to see a small fry like you. Leave at once."

The attendant glanced at Chu Fengmian's cultivation realm and spoke with disdain.

A first-level Body Tempering Realm practitioner might be considered a powerhouse in Linwu City, but what was the status of the Myriad Artifact Pavilion? They existed entirely beyond the scope of Linwu City. Even the Lord of the Lin Estate would have to book an appointment in advance to see the manager of the Myriad Artifact Pavilion.

Since Chu Fengmian had demanded to see the manager, the attendant naturally felt extreme contempt.

"Is that so? I didn't expect that not only the Lin Estate, but even this Myriad Artifact Pavilion, would have such death-seeking trash," Chu Fengmian said with a cold sneer, glancing at the attendant.

"Kid, do you dare to cause trouble in the Myriad Artifact Pavilion? Someone, come here!" The attendant mocked him upon hearing Chu Fengmian's words.

One wouldn't dare to strike a blow within the Myriad Artifact Pavilion even if they were the Lord of the Lin Estate; so why should he be afraid?

The argument between the two had already drawn the attention of many martial artists.

"Look at that man, isn't that Chief Steward Chu? It's said he had already condensed his spiritual veins. Having not seen him for three months, he has actually stepped into the Body Tempering Realm."

Some martial artists had already recognized Chu Fengmian. They hadn't recognized him at first, but upon closer inspection, they realized who he was.

Chu Fengmian's current temperament was naturally worlds apart from his former self. An ordinary martial artist would find it difficult to believe that these two vastly different impressions belonged to the same person.

"Is he going to clash with the attendant of the Myriad Artifact Pavilion?"

"The attendants in this pavilion are all incredibly arrogant; they never take us seriously. It looks like he has provoked Chief Steward Chu."

"So what if he provoked him? The Myriad Artifact Pavilion isn't afraid of the Lin Estate. If a fight breaks out today, the only one who might suffer is him."

As the martial artists discussed, their voices suddenly cut off.

Two martial artists were seen walking out from the Myriad Artifact Pavilion. Both were at the first level of the Body Tempering Realm. Such a realm would make one an elite inner disciple in the Lin Estate, but in the Myriad Artifact Pavilion, they were merely two guard thugs.

"Chief Steward Chu, weren't you being very arrogant just now? Why aren't you saying anything now?" Seeing the two martial artists approach, the attendant gained confidence and spoke coldly. "Break his legs and throw him out!"

"Yes!"

The two martial artists responded simultaneously. As guards of the Myriad Artifact Pavilion, they naturally did not care about the other party's identity.

"Pardon our rudeness!"

With a simultaneous shout, each grabbed one of Chu Fengmian's arms, intending to seize him and throw him out.

"Hmph."

Chu Fengmian glanced at the two of them. With a surge of strength in his arms, he lifted both men directly and slammed them onto the ground.

*Bang!*

With a loud thud, everyone looked over. Chu Fengmian was still standing exactly where he had been, perfectly still. Instead, the two guards who had just attacked were lying on the ground at his feet.

Although Chu Fengmian was currently suffering from injuries, dealing with two first-level Body Tempering Realm martial artists was still effortless.

"I'll give you one last chance: call your manager out," Chu Fengmian said coldly, glancing at the attendant.

"This is your last chance!"

"What chance! Kid, you actually dare to cause trouble in the Myriad Artifact Pavilion? It seems you really have lost your patience! Someone, come quickly! Someone is causing trouble!"

"Who dares to cause trouble in my Myriad Artifact Pavilion!"

A deep, resonant voice suddenly rang out. An old man slowly descended the stairs, his voice carrying boundless majesty. It was the manager of the Myriad Artifact Pavilion, Xuan Jingtai.

"The manager of the Myriad Artifact Pavilion is here."

"Chief Steward Chu is in for trouble now," many martial artists thought to themselves.

"Manager, it's him! He came to my Myriad Artifact Pavilion to cause trouble!" Seeing Xuan Jingtai arrive, the attendant spoke hurriedly, his eyes fixed on Chu Fengmian as if he wanted to watch him being thrown out.

However, the next scene caused his eyes to nearly fall out of his head.

Xuan Jingtai, who had originally looked furious, saw that the newcomer was Chu Fengmian, and his expression instantly softened, even carrying a hint of a smile.

"So, it is Chief Steward Chu who has come."

Xuan Jingtai looked at Chu Fengmian and spoke with a smile, his tone carrying a hint of respect.

Indeed, respect. Even when facing the Lord of the Lin Estate, Xuan Jingtai remained extremely calm and composed, never once taking the initiative to curry favor with a junior like this.

Everyone couldn't help but rub their eyes, as if they couldn't believe what they were seeing. The attendant was the same; he had thought Xuan Jingtai would throw Chu Fengmian out without question, but the reality was the exact opposite—he was being greeted with a smile.

"Manager, this kid just attacked our guards!" the attendant said hurriedly.

"Hmm?"

Xuan Jingtai glanced at Chu Fengmian and then at the attendant. His expression suddenly changed, and he said coldly, "Was it you who offended our distinguished guest?"

"Distinguished guest?"

Before the attendant could react, Xuan Jingtai turned to Chu Fengmian and said, "This little fellow is ignorant and has offended Chief Steward Chu. As for how he should be punished, I will leave it to you to decide."

"Fine."

Chu Fengmian nodded without refusal. He walked over to the attendant, grabbed him by the collar, and lifted him up.

"Were you planning to throw me out just now?"

Chu Fengmian spoke calmly. With a surge of strength, he threw the attendant out, sending him flying from the Myriad Artifact Pavilion directly onto the street.

Chu Fengmian did not use much force in this throw; he merely wanted to teach the attendant a lesson without causing serious injury. He was not a bloodthirsty person; though the attendant had offended him, a lesson was enough.

Xuan Jingtai's expression did not change as he watched Chu Fengmian throw the attendant out. He spoke up, "Chief Steward Chu, please, come upstairs."

"Alright."

With a step, Chu Fengmian headed toward the second floor.

It was only long after Chu Fengmian and Xuan Jingtai had departed that the martial artists regained their senses.

Since when could someone throw an attendant of the Myriad Artifact Pavilion out? Especially considering Xuan Jingtai's attitude toward Chu Fengmian—even the City Lord of Linwu City wouldn't be treated with such politeness.

Judging by Chu Fengmian's demeanor, he was extremely well-acquainted with Xuan Jingtai. All of this completely overturned their understanding of the world.
