Surviving as a Dark Eldar in Warhammer
Chapter 28: Summary
Author's Note
This is my first time writing a novel. I didn't submit it for internal review and just posted it directly because I felt the first three chapters weren't quite up to par, and I didn't want to fail an internal review.
I've written up to 26,000 words, which is the end of Chapter 12. I signed a contract through the platform's short-term signing process. I signed on the 7th, the first round of promotion started on the 13th, and as of the 15th, I have 353 bookmarks.
Thank you all for your recommendation votes, bookmarks, tips, comments, and monthly tickets, _(:з」∠)_
Regarding the plot: first of all, writing without a "System" is truly difficult—it's either a struggle with word count or a struggle with logic. When a System issues a task, the protagonist acts like a mindless puppet and just gets things done, which is satisfying.
Then there's the "Golden Finger" (cheat/special ability). The protagonist's family, "Disaster of Hell," could also be transliterated as "Helban," but I felt it lacked flavor. I asked a few veterans, and they also said "Disaster of Hell" sounds better. This family appears in the 7th edition Warhammer Fantasy military books, and there are four main characters. Based on the lore, I personally interpret this family as being similar to a major warlorddom or a large military district, maintaining a relationship of semi-cooperation and semi-submission with Marequis.
Readers who have only played the game might ask: isn't Kraklond in the interior?
Actually, it isn't. In the lore, this city is known as the City of Ships and is the naval shipyard of Druzhch. However, it is located upstream of the Red Poison River, which I find somewhat inappropriate—what kind of river could allow a Black Ark to sail into?
The game design was for gameplay balance; Hal Gonsi is a port city, and Kraklond is also a port city. If Morathi started in Golgud and Malekith was in Hag Graef, how could Rakarth and Lokhia play in Karond Kar?
Through the trials, I aim to write out the protagonist's background and personality, while showcasing the atmosphere and culture of the Old World. I've planted a few foreshadowing elements in this chapter and provided the protagonist with several reasonable "Golden Fingers"; currently, there are four.
As for swearing and verbal tics... emmm.
Reading the official novels, the people of Druzhch speak quite provocatively. In that environment, it is perfectly normal to maintain elegant noble etiquette while simultaneously swearing.
As for the verbal tics... I'll post another image.
I am a newcomer and my typing speed is truly slow. I also have to ensure everything follows basic logic; I can't just write for the sake of "satisfaction." This is Warhammer Fantasy; although I might not be able to write something epic, it must be logical.
As for the female lead, she might appear in the next chapter, "No Wind or Clouds in Kraklond." To repeat myself: if we are following logic, the female lead will also be a high-ranking noble, and it will be a single female lead story. That kind of *Wuthering Heights*-style emotional intensity... my head hurts just thinking about it.
Let me clarify one last thing: I will not write a "skin-suit" story (a story that just uses the setting as a facade, like *Mercy*), nor will I write "poisonous points" (plot tropes that frustrate readers). Logic, logic, logic.
As for the title, it was completely stream-of-consciousness; I only came up with it after I finished writing.
That's all, thank you everyone _(:з」∠)_
