Chapter 14: That is my Master Zhi

Tang Yun knew that the flowers and plants in the courtyard—the osmanthus tree and that cluster of bamboo—were all Gu Xiyue's treasures.

No one was allowed to touch them; anyone who did would meet with misfortune.

A year ago, a village youth had accidentally snapped off one of her flowers, and she had gone as far as breaking his arm. It had taken him nearly half a year to recover.

She knew that Gu Zhixi and Gu Xiyue were not on good terms.

If Gu Zhixi truly messed with Gu Xiyue's plants, and Gu Xiyue went mad because of it, then the Gu family...

"Fine."

Hearing Tang Yun's warning, Gu Zhixi merely gave a casual, indifferent response.

She looked utterly nonchalant and perfunctory, which caused Tang Yun to knit her brows slightly.

However, she didn't say anything more, instead turning to go find someone.

After finishing with the trees, Gu Zhixi walked over to the flowerbeds, inspecting every single one in the courtyard.

Finally, she stopped in front of one particular flowerbed.

**

"Mommy, you're ba—"

Not seeing the familiar figure in the courtyard, the child cut himself off.

He then looked warily at the person standing under the osmanthus tree.

"Who... who are you?"

The child's voice was soft and milky, tinged with a hint of caution.

Gu Zhixi turned her head and glanced at the child.

She ignored him.

She turned back to continue staring at the ants on the tree trunk.

As soon as Gu Zhixi turned her head, the child caught a clear view of her face. He blinked, then ran toward her with quick, short steps.

Tilting his head slightly, he gripped the tree trunk and peeked out from behind it, looking up at Gu Zhixi. "Sister, is your name Gu Zhixi?"

Gu Zhixi raised an eyebrow and looked at the child.

"I know you." The child clung to the tree trunk, blinking his clear, innocent eyes as he spoke in his soft voice.

Gu Zhixi stopped looking at the ants and turned her attention to the little brat instead.

"Big brother says you're always trying to hurt Sister Yueyue." As the little brat spoke, he shot a timid glance at Gu Zhixi.

Gu Zhixi: "..."

The original owner of this body certainly had a notorious reputation.

"You're bad, you're a bad sister," the child said, looking expectantly at Gu Zhixi.

Gu Zhixi: "..."

"But, you're pretty."

"Even though you're bad, you're still my sister."

Gu Zhixi smiled. She rested her elbow on the tree trunk and crossed her legs, leaning lazily against the tree. A sense of casual playfulness colored her expression. "I am not your sister."

The child blinked, a hint of confusion appearing in his eyes. "Aren't you Gu Zhixi?"

"I'm your grandfather." Gu Zhixi said, her lips curling into a slight, cynical smirk. "Come on, call me Master Zhi."

The child: ⊙_⊙?

He looked completely bewildered and lost.

"Chengcheng, are you back?" Tang Yun's voice drifted in from the entrance.

Hearing this, the child dashed toward Tang Yun in a flash.

"Mommy, you're back?"

Gu Chengcheng hugged Tang Yun's leg, nuzzling against her affectionately.

Tang Yun reached down and affectionately stroked his little head. "Why are you covered in sweat? Where are your keys?"

Children loved to run around; she had visited several houses without finding him.

Finally, she had run into a neighbor heading to the fields, who told her that Gu Chengcheng had already returned home.

Only then did she come back.

Gu Chengcheng fumbled in his pocket, pulled out the keys, and handed them to Tang Yun. He then looked up at her with an innocent smile. "Mommy, I have a grandpa now."

Tang Yun:?

Gu Chengcheng turned slightly and pointed a small finger at Gu Zhixi under the tree. "That's my Master Zhi."

Gu Zhixi: "..."

Tang Yun: "..."

Tang Yun fell silent for a long time, staring at Gu Zhixi for a few seconds before finally giving Gu Chengcheng a light pat on the back. "Don't call people nonsense names. That's a sister. From now on, you call her Sister Qixi."
