Chapter 37: A Great Achievement

Seeing medical staff approaching from not far away, Mother Liu stood up in a flash and stumbled toward them to meet them: "Doctor, are the results in?"

The doctor glanced at the mother and daughter, never imagining that these people from the countryside would actually know their Vice President, and that he would be personally performing surgery on the injured person.

She had always upheld the principle of a physician's benevolence, and now she dared not be negligent: "It is indeed a comminuted fracture, and two areas have already displaced. We recommend using steel pins, as this will aid in recovery. If we only use a cast or a splint for fixation, we cannot guarantee there won't be long-term complications later on."

Mother Liu had only attended a literacy class for a few days and found the explanation confusing, but as a modern person, Liu Chuxue understood perfectly even without the doctor's explanation: "We will follow the doctor's advice. Please arrange the surgery for us as soon as possible."

Mother Liu didn't understand these things; she left everything to her daughter.

The female doctor took the surgical notification form from a nurse and filled it out: "Please sign your names here. The patient has already undergone the preoperative examinations."

Hearing that surgery could happen immediately, Mother Liu thanked the doctor repeatedly in her excitement. Her greatest achievement from the literacy class was learning how to write her own name; though it was crooked, she finally managed to sign it.

After asking for the location of the operating room, the two of them rushed off in that direction.

However, after running only a short distance, they encountered Kong Yizhang walking toward them with large strides.

Liu Chuxue understood that her father's surgery could only be arranged this way because Kong Yizhang had pulled some strings: "Comrade Kong, thank you so much."

Kong Yizhang waved his hand: "Don't say that. I am very happy to be of help."

Thinking of the man in the cave, though he no longer had anything to do with her, she still asked: "Is that comrade doing alright?"

Kong Yizhang nodded slightly and lowered his voice: "He is out of danger, but due to excessive blood loss, he is currently still in a coma."

He glanced around before leaning closer to Liu Chuxue: "You have performed a great service by saving that person this time. I have already reported it to the higher-ups. Once the reward is issued, we will deliver it to you personally."

This time, she had done more than just a great service, but for the sake of her safety, it was inconvenient to make a grand announcement.

Thinking of what the doctor had said, his heart was filled with gratitude. If she hadn't helped Fu Yancheng treat the wound beforehand, that fellow might not have even lived long enough to wait for him to bring people to pick him up.

Fu Yancheng had had a brief moment of consciousness last night and had given him a general overview of the ongoing investigation, as well as the location where the hand-drawn topographical map was hidden.

If not for this young girl, everything they had sacrificed before would have gone down the drain, and there would likely be one more name added to the list of those who lost their lives for this cause. Who knew how many more lives would be lost before those people could finally be brought to justice?

Therefore, they all owed her a debt of gratitude.

Of course, now was not the time for that: "By the way, regarding your father's matter, I have already spoken to some acquaintances here."

Liu Chuxue quickly responded: "The doctor just told us. Thank you so much, truly."

Kong Yizhang looked at Liu Chuxue with a hint of amusement: "Let's stop with all the thanking. If you don't mind, just call me Big Brother Kong. Don't be formal with me if you need anything."

Liu Chuxue naturally would not refuse his kindness and replied briskly: "Alright, I'll listen to Big Brother Kong."

Kong Yizhang had matters to attend to, and they had to go to the operating room. After a brief exchange, they went their separate ways.
