Seventies: The Spicy Wife Following the Army Leads the Compound to Wealth and Counterattack
Chapter 3: I will get the news out as soon as possible
Without time to overthink, she reached out to pull the pen from his hand. Realizing what he intended to do, she murmured, "Pardon the intrusion," and began searching his pockets.
Finding nothing suitable to write on except for a pack of cigarettes, she quickly tore off the outer packaging, handed it to the man, and thoughtfully uncapped the pen for him. She then reached out to support his elbow so he could steady himself.
Fu Yan-cheng fought through his dizziness, scribbled a name and a string of numbers, and said in a hoarse voice, "Please... contact this person. Tell him the peach blossoms on Mang Mountain have bloomed, and ask him to come and enjoy the flowers as soon as possible. Don't forget to bring the things we agreed upon."
Having said this, he collapsed into a state of exhaustion.
Seeing him like this, Liu Chu-xue asked anxiously, "Comrade, what's wrong?"
Fu Yan-cheng’s face was pale, his voice weak: "I'm fine. Please, help me... contact him as soon as you can."
As he spoke, he forced himself to pat his own breast pocket. "Take the money for the call... from my pocket yourself."
Liu Chu-xue glanced at the information on the cigarette box. Knowing the situation was urgent, she set aside her own personal grievances: "You saved me today; I will definitely make sure this is taken care of for you."
She prepared to turn and leave, but then paused: "Where are you hurt? Let me see if I can help you stop the bleeding first."
Judging by his condition, his injuries were likely severe. The smell of blood on him was too strong; if she didn't treat it, he might not last until help arrived.
After all, in his current state, she truly lacked the strength to carry him away.
Fu Yan-cheng wanted to tell her not to bother, but Liu Chu-xue had already lifted the hem of his jacket. She had noticed him pressing his hand against his abdomen earlier, and blood was faintly seeping through his military uniform.
Sure enough, the wound on his abdomen was serious.
Liu Chu-xue had learned first aid in college, and after she started working, her unit had organized team-building exercises that included medical emergency training. She knew a thing or two about basic first aid.
However, there was no medicine to stop the bleeding, and the wound was quite large; clearly, direct pressure wasn't enough.
Still, she couldn't just leave him be. "Forgive me."
With that, she raised her hands to undo the buttons of his coat.
It took a great deal of effort to finally get it off, followed by his undershirt. With no other choice, she tore the shirt into wide strips to use as bandages, clumsily wrapping his wound.
Although it was still seeping blood, it was better than doing nothing. She had done her part; the rest was up to fate and his own luck.
After much effort, she managed to put his coat back on him. "Comrade, I will get the message out as soon as possible."
As someone from the future, she didn't feel particularly embarrassed by what she had just done—after all, she was saving a life—but she failed to notice that Fu Yan-cheng, sitting against the wall, had the tips of his ears turned bright red.
Liu Chu-xue had the original owner's memories and was fairly familiar with the mountain forest. Moreover, she could determine direction by the sun, and she stumbled her way out of the mountains.
Passing by a small stream, she tidied herself up briefly before hurrying toward the commune's post and telecommunications office. Her life motto was to protect herself before helping others, and she naturally didn't want to invite criticism because of her disheveled appearance.
After paying the deposit, the staff member dialed the number and handed her the receiver. Upon hearing a voice on the other end, she said, "Could you please put me through to Kong Yi-zhang?"
When Kong Yi-zhang heard a woman was looking for him, he was puzzled: "That's me. May I ask who is calling?"
"Comrade Kong, someone asked me to tell you that the peach blossoms on Mang Mountain have bloomed. He wants you to come and enjoy the flowers as soon as possible, and don't forget to bring the things you agreed upon."
