Drawing an S-Rank Talent in the Apocalypse: I Lead the Rise of Planet Blue
Chapter 6: What Kind of Monster Is This?
Early in the morning, the chat channel became lively again.
But what everyone was discussing wasn't what they were going to do today, but rather Player 953.
[Where's 953? No way, did he really go out last night?]
[Don't ask. Anyway, he insisted he knew martial arts and wanted to go out to kill monsters in the middle of the night.]
[This game is so annoying. I can't even add him as a friend, otherwise I would have gone to ask him myself.]
[Emmm, he's stubborn. Everyone told him not to go out. I hope he didn't die.]
[So many people are talking about him, yet he hasn't come out to say a word. I bet he's in big trouble.]
[There's no way there's actually an idiot like that. I bet this 953 didn't go out at all; he was just talking big.]
Going out at night?
People who deliberately challenge the rules truly exist everywhere.
Despite the heavy discussion, 953 hadn't said a single word.
Either he was doing it on purpose, or...
Ning Yun leaned toward the idea that he was likely dead.
After all, someone who brags in a chat channel usually has a flamboyant personality and loves attention.
And now, everyone was discussing him. Whether he had gone out in the middle of the night or not, as long as he was still alive, he definitely wouldn't be able to resist stepping up to speak.
But the channel had been discussing him for so long without him appearing; he was most likely met with misfortune.
Ning Yun truly could not understand these types of people who deliberately violated rules just to seek excitement.
However, she had another question.
Were they currently in the game with their physical bodies, or were their consciousnesses being projected in?
If they had entered the game with their physical bodies, then they would have suddenly disappeared from Blue Star.
Wouldn't that cause panic?
Unless the number of players participating in the beta test was currently very small.
Ning Yun had noticed earlier that everyone had a number, and the largest was 999.
She boldly speculated that perhaps only these people were participating in the beta test, which would prevent a massive social upheaval.
She just didn't know if she would still have the chance to go home one more time.
She still had many regrets; at the very least, she wanted to say goodbye to her family.
At the thought of her family, Ning Yun's heart grew heavy, but she could not allow this emotion to spread.
Staying alive—surviving—was more important than anything else right now!
After eating two rice balls, Ning Yun finished off the remaining mulberries.
To be honest, the taste was exactly the same as on Blue Star, perfectly ripe.
It was just a bit strange that both her hands and mouth were stained black.
After sitting for about ten minutes after her meal, she began to warm up.
Today would be another busy day. As soon as 8:00 arrived, the chat channel immediately went silent.
Ning Yun also quickly rushed out of the house and headed toward the small river.
She first washed her hands and face, then scooped up some water to take a sip.
It was sweet and cool, much better than she had expected.
She took the two mineral water bottles from her backpack and refilled them.
As long as this small river remained, she wouldn't lack water.
Ning Yun pulled out her dagger and began today's mission: finding treasure chests!
According to yesterday's experience, ordinary treasure chests were quite conspicuous.
However, the environment around Ning Yun was complex, with many bushes that easily obstructed her vision.
Today, Ning Yun had a flying start; after walking for only a few minutes, she spotted a chest.
[Ding! Congratulations, you have triggered your 100% Critical Hit talent!]
[Congratulations, you have obtained 2 ceramic bowls and 4 jin of rice.]
It was actually rice—a staple food!
If she could get a pot and a lighter, she could cook in her house.
Last night, she had desperately wanted a kitchen.
At the very least, it would help pass the time.
God only knew how she was supposed to endure from 6:00 to 10:00 without a phone, computer, or TV.
The weather today remained clear and windless.
Unlike her trepidation yesterday, Ning Yun had now calmly accepted the reality and no longer felt anxious about things that hadn't happened.
Finding chests, collecting supplies, and striving to survive—that was her goal.
And the God of Luck seemed to be looking out for Ning Yun today.
In less than half an hour, she found another chest.
Upon opening it, her talent was triggered again.
[Congratulations, you have obtained 2 lighters and 6 bananas.]
Bananas were great for replenishing energy. She put five of them into her backpack.
She took one out separately, peeled it, and ate it.
It wasn't even 9:00 yet, and she had already found two chests.
The goal she had set for herself today should be achievable.
Holding the dagger in her right hand and a branch in her left, Ning Yun cleared her path as she walked, just like yesterday.
However, the tracks she had made yesterday had all disappeared.
The forest was silent, so Ning Yun simply sang to bolster her courage.
"White Dragon Horse, hooves heading west, carrying Tang Sanzang and following his three disciples..."
"What demons or monsters, what painted-skin beauties, what mountains of blades or seas of fire, what traps or schemes!"
With the Great Sage's song boosting her, she seemed to truly no longer be afraid.
Suddenly, a white shadow darted past her feet, giving Ning Yun a massive fright!
"Holy mother!"
She quickly retreated two steps, gripping her dagger tightly. Thinking of the bandages in her backpack, she gritted her teeth, forced herself to be brave, and followed the flattened grass for about ten meters.
Only then did she see clearly that it seemed to be a rabbit.
But could a rabbit grow this large and run this fast?
It had darted away like a bolt of lightning.
She bent down slightly, picked up a stone from the ground, gauged the distance, and threw it with force.
With a "whoosh," it hit the rabbit right on target.
Fortunately, its health wasn't high, only 200.
Above its head, three words were displayed: "Short-toothed Rabbit."
Judging by the name, it didn't seem like a species from Blue Star; it was likely a mutated rabbit from the game.
A rabbit this large surely had a lot of meat.
Ning Yun instinctively swallowed her saliva but forced herself to hold it back. She had no cooking utensils right now; even if she had meat, she couldn't eat it.
The Short-toothed Rabbit was a bit dazed after being hit by the stone.
But it didn't seem very intelligent; instead of running away upon seeing Ning Yun, it stayed in place and stared at her.
Ning Yun thought about her house—it was far too quiet. Perhaps she should catch it and raise it for a while.
Once she had cooking utensils and could make a fire, she would kill it.
With this thought, Ning Yun slowly shuffled forward two steps, but for some reason, the Short-toothed Rabbit suddenly changed direction and bolted away.
Ning Yun instinctively followed, winding through a small grove and crossing a small river.
Perhaps because Ning Yun maintained a small distance from it at all times, the Short-toothed Rabbit's speed gradually slowed down.
It leisurely nibbled on some grass, looked left and right, and ran a small circle around the area.
Finally, it sped up and ducked behind a large tree.
Ning Yun hurried after it, only to find that it had vanished.
It seemed this area was its nest.
The trees here were even more lush, making it difficult for sunlight to penetrate, so the visibility was somewhat dark.
Because of this, she could see anything on the ground that had even a slight reflection.
Just like now, a bronze treasure chest lay quietly on the ground.
If she hadn't followed the Short-toothed Rabbit here, it would have been difficult for Ning Yun to find this spot even if given an entire morning.
The chest opened, and the familiar system notification arrived once more.
[Ding! Congratulations, you have triggered your 100% Critical Hit talent!]
[Congratulations, you have obtained 2 silk quilts and 2 backpack expansion vouchers.]
