Reincarnation Paradise: The Dreamweaver of Connections

Chapter 13: Divine Island Greenland

"Is there any safe place left in the world now?"

Miyamoto Rei stood lonely by the office window, her solitary and helpless figure reflected in the glass.

She gently covered her face with her palms, her shoulders trembling slightly as she let out uncontrollable sobs.

Lines of clear tears slid silently down her cheeks.

Her thoughts drifted uncontrollably toward sweet memories of her parents; those warm and innocent scenes from the past now felt like sharp arrows, piercing her already fragile heart again and again.

She simply could not imagine that the home once filled with laughter and joy had now turned into a desolate ruin.

She was afraid to dwell on it, afraid to face the unbearable, cold reality.

"Impossible," Takagi Saya's voice struck like a bolt of lightning, instantly extinguishing the spark of hope that had just been ignited in the group. "This virus is clearly explosive in its infection; it has triggered the same symptoms globally in a short time. There is no safe place left in this world."

She sat upright in front of the office computer, where information about the infected flooded the screen like a beast, refreshing endlessly. Every new piece of information felt like a declaration of the death of hope.

Just as everyone was sinking into the abyss of despair, Lin Yi calmly spat out a few words: "Not necessarily." His voice, though peaceful, was like the first light of dawn, dispelling the gloom in everyone's hearts.

Everyone turned to Lin Yi, waiting for what he would say next.

"Have you heard of Greenland?"

"Greenland? Where is that?"

When Lin Yi mentioned the name "Greenland," a flash of confusion crossed everyone's eyes, but it was quickly replaced by anticipation.

Miyamoto Rei tried to recall the contents of her geography lessons, but regrettably, she had no memory of Greenland.

Takagi Saya had a good understanding of world geography, and at that moment, she was rapidly searching her mind for detailed information about Greenland.

Before long, a look of undisguised surprise flashed across her face.

"Greenland," she began excitedly, her voice revealing infinite hope. "It is located in the northeastern part of North America. It is not only an autonomous territory of Denmark but also the largest island in the world."

She paused for a moment and continued, "It is worth mentioning that Greenland's industrial development is quite decent. Thanks to its abundant offshore oil and natural gas resources, the island's economy is relatively stable. If we can successfully reach it, we might find an ideal refuge."

Everyone listened to Takagi Saya's explanation, and the spark of hope was rekindled in their hearts.

Although they knew very little about Greenland, at this moment, they chose to trust Lin Yi and Takagi Saya's judgment completely, hoping to find a new lease on life in that distant land.

Marikawa Shizuka crouched on the ground, carefully and patiently pulling open every drawer of the office desk one by one, searching for items they desperately needed.

"Found it!" Marikawa Shizuka's voice broke the silence of the office.

She held up a set of car keys with a label attached, a look of relief on her face.

"Let's go. It's time to leave this godforsaken place."

Following Lin Yi's order, everyone stood up, ready to leave this place filled with terror and despair.

Busujima Saeko gently stroked the white oak sword in her hand. Her eyes were deep and cold, revealing an undisguised killing intent.

After a full day of bloody fighting, the wildness and desire for slaughter in her heart surged like a tide, no longer able to be hidden.

The aura around her became sharp and aggressive, invisibly bringing a heavy sense of oppression to those around her.

Although her companions felt somewhat uncomfortable, in this apocalypse, they knew that Busujima Saeko's state might be better suited for this cruel world.

Therefore, no one spoke to criticize her; they simply accepted her state in silence.

Lin Yi and his group pushed open the doors of the office building. They stood on the stairs, holding their breath, observing the situation outside with full concentration.

Dozens of infected were wandering aimlessly on the playground, their figures elongated and distorted in the dim light, appearing particularly eerie.

These infected emitted low growls and hisses from time to time, which were hair-raising.

"Avoid them if you can; only fight if you have to."

Lin Yi warned them sternly. He knew well that a head-on conflict with a large number of infected in an open space would be catastrophic.

These infected were not only numerous but also highly infectious and fiercely aggressive.

If they accidentally attracted a large swarm of infected, even the most skilled fighters would struggle to escape unscathed.

"Understood."

Komuro Takashi and the others nodded, gripping their weapons tightly as they followed in Lin Yi's footsteps.

Fortunately, although the infected had exceptionally keen hearing, the group successfully evaded detection through careful concealment.

Without any major incidents, the group finally reached the entrance of the parking lot.

The parking lot of Fujimi Academy was located underground, next to a staircase reserved for teachers.

As they cautiously approached the entrance, they could faintly hear the sound of flesh being torn coming from below through the gaps in the stairs. This made Komuro Takashi's mood suddenly tense—clearly, there were others below engaged in a life-or-death struggle with the infected.

Lin Yi made a prompt decision and led the group into the parking lot.

In the center of the parking lot, two boys were wielding baseball bats, struggling to fend off the surrounding infected.

Behind them, three girls were huddled together, shivering.

"Troublesome. Finish the fight quickly and make them shut up, or they'll attract even more infected."

Hearing the girls' terrified screams, Lin Yi's face darkened instantly.

Such high-decibel sounds would undoubtedly attract more infected and worsen the situation.

Busujima Saeko and Miyamoto Rei also immediately realized the severity of the situation.

Without the slightest hesitation, they rushed toward the infected surrounding the boys.

Busujima Saeko held her white oak sword, each swing precisely shattering an infected's skull with clean, efficient movements.

Miyamoto Rei, relying on her agility, nimbly dodged the lunges and bites of the infected while seizing the opportunity to deliver a fatal blow to the enemies with her spear.

The boy who had been fighting heroically against the infected was now exhausted, his face pale as paper and covered in sweat.

His eyes were filled with fear and fatigue, but even more so with gratitude toward Busujima Saeko.

He tried to steady his emotions, making his voice sound less shaky: "Th... thank you, Busujima-san. If you hadn't arrived in time, we might have..."

"We are leaving here. Are you coming?"

Busujima Saeko swung her white oak sword, flicking the blood from the blade onto the ground.

"Yes, we'll go with you."

The boy nodded immediately in agreement, leading the others to follow behind Komuro Takashi.

In a dim corner of the parking lot, Marikawa Shizuka finally found the school bus.

As soon as the students boarded, they felt an unprecedented sense of security, as if this school bus were their sanctuary in the apocalypse.

Ignoring the bloodstains and sweat on their bodies, they leaned back against the comfortable seats of the bus, as if they could temporarily forget the terrifying world outside and those horrible infected.

However, just as they were about to leave the parking lot, a sudden rush of footsteps broke the surrounding silence.

Miyamoto Rei looked up alertly, only to see a new group of survivors rushing into their line of sight.

Among this group, a man in a suit wearing glasses was particularly eye-catching; his temperament and attire stood out.

Miyamoto Rei's expression turned ugly instantly. She gripped her spear tightly, her eyes revealing intense hostility and vigilance.

My Plague Inc. run got screwed by Greenland again.
