Reincarnation Paradise: The Dreamweaver of Connections

Chapter 20: Arriving at the Destination

When Lin Yi woke up, the sunlight was already streaming diagonally into the room; it was noon.

He rubbed his bleary eyes, got out of bed, and walked out of the room.

In the hall, everyone was busy.

Saeko Busujima was in the kitchen preparing food. Her movements were incredibly elegant, maintaining a unique sense of composure even in such an environment.

Kota Hirano and Takashi Komuro were collecting and organizing the remaining supplies, categorizing useful items.

Seeing Lin Yi wake up, Saeko Busujima smiled and invited him over for lunch.

Though the food on the table was simple, it felt exceptionally precious at this moment.

Lin Yi ate quickly, then sat with the group to begin discussing the details of their departure.

Once they confirmed the supplies were ready, Lin Yi sat in the passenger seat of the Humvee, clutching the Black Abyss Sword.

This position required intense observation and reaction skills; aside from Lin Yi, only Saeko Busujima was suitable for the role within the team.

The town during the day appeared unnervingly silent. The houses on both sides of the streets had their doors and windows tightly shut, as if their owners had either turned into infected or were hiding inside, trembling in fear.

An indescribable sense of oppression permeated the air, sending shivers down one's spine.

The Humvee drove slowly toward the bridge. From a distance, they could see some cars on the bridge still burning, their flames soaring into the sky and reflecting against the heavens.

As for the police officers who had once stood firm at the defensive line, they had now become hideous infected, gathering on one side of the bridge and letting out bone-chilling roars.

Lin Yi stared at the scene before him, his brow furrowed.

It seemed the defensive line had ultimately been breached last night. These infected were truly omnipresent, making them impossible to guard against.

"Let's take the water route. The bridge area looks completely blocked," Lin Yi suggested.

Shizuka Mikawa nodded and skillfully drove the Humvee toward the canal.

This military Humvee possessed amphibious capabilities, allowing it to move unimpeded even in water.

This way, the infected would be unable to pose a threat to them.

The group admired the surrounding scenery from inside the vehicle. Although the nearby infected were a bit of a mood killer, the scenery itself hadn't changed much.

The river water shimmered, and the trees on both banks were lush and green, making it feel as if they were inside a tranquil painting.

"Follow this river forward, then take a left at that intersection ahead."

Saya Takagi poked her head out to give Shizuka Mikawa directions.

With Lin Yi present, the group's departure speed was much faster than in the original story, and they avoided many troubles.

Half an hour later, they finally arrived at the location of Saya Takagi's villa.

The road was blocked by barbed wire, leaving the group momentarily at a loss.

Lin Yi, however, was not panicked. He calmly pulled a flare gun from the trunk. Although it was daytime, at such a short distance, it would be enough for the people in the villa to notice the signal.

With a bang, the red flare pierced the sky and ascended successfully.

The sound of the shot also attracted the surrounding infected.

They roared, swarming toward the group.

Kota Hirano raised his gun to shoot, but Lin Yi raised his hand to stop him.

"Don't shoot. There aren't many infected gathering right now. If you fire, you'll attract even more."

Lin Yi scanned the area roughly. The sound of the flare gun wasn't loud—it was similar to a firework launch—so aside from the infected in the immediate vicinity, none from other areas had come over yet.

Once shots were fired, the numbers would be far greater than this.

Kota Hirano could only reluctantly put away his rifle.

Lin Yi and Saeko Busujima drew their weapons and slowly moved toward the surrounding infected.

As if hearing their footsteps, the movements of the infected became noticeably more violent, with many of them roaring in Lin Yi's direction.

However, ever since Lin Yi had obtained the [Dead Body Virus Immunity Agent], these ordinary infected were no longer considered a threat to him.

Holding the Black Abyss Sword, Lin Yi stood directly in front of the horde, surrounded by a tide of incoming infected.

The Black Abyss Sword flashed with a cold light under the sun, looking like a predatory beast waiting for its bloodthirsty moment, perfectly complementing Lin Yi's aura.

The infected surged forward like a tide, rushing at Lin Yi with roars.

Their bodies were twisted and deformed, their skin rotting to reveal white bone, and their eyes flickered with a red, eerie light, filled with a craving for blood.

Lin Yi's gaze was cold as his figure moved through the crowd of infected like the wind.

He swung the Black Abyss Sword; with every flash of the blade, a piercing scream followed.

The infected fell one after another, blood splashing everywhere.

In Lin Yi's hands, the Black Abyss Sword seemed to become an extension of his own body, dancing with his movements and demonstrating terrifying power.

Faced with the encirclement, Lin Yi did not panic in the slightest.

He leaped high into the air and brought the sword down, slicing several infected in half.

His movements were swift and fluid, as if he were dancing with the Black Abyss Sword, performing a bloody choreography together.

When the last infected fell under Lin Yi's blade, the battle ended.

Lin Yi stood quietly amidst the sea of blood, the stains on the Black Abyss Sword appearing particularly glaring in the sunlight.

Saeko Busujima looked at Lin Yi, her eyes shimmering with complex emotions.

She was deeply captivated by Lin Yi's violent silhouette just now; that powerful and cold temperament made her heart race, making her instinctively press her legs together.

A few minutes later, a group of people wearing hazmat suits appeared on the other side of the fence.

When they saw Lin Yi and Saeko Busujima standing in the middle of the corpse pile, many couldn't help but gasp.

These people were clearly shocked by the sight of the two having slain so many infected.

The leader removed her mask, revealing a delicate face and long pink hair.

She was Saya Takagi's mother, Yuriko Takagi.

"Saya, you're finally back."

Yuriko Takagi spoke softly, her eyes filled with longing and worry for her daughter.

Upon seeing the newcomer, Saya Takagi's tears burst forth, and she threw herself into her mother's arms.

The mother and daughter embraced tightly, as if trying to melt all the separation and anxiety of this period into that single hug.

"Alright, everyone, let's go inside quickly. It's not safe here."

Yuriko Takagi gently stroked Saya Takagi's hair to soothe her.

Then, she signaled the people behind her to begin clearing the bodies of the infected Lin Yi had slain.

If the smell of blood was too heavy, it would attract more infected to gather.

Under Yuriko Takagi's guidance, the group finally successfully crossed the警戒 line.

Watching the security personnel moving back and forth around them, everyone in the Humvee breathed a sigh of relief.

The recent period of fleeing and fighting had left them physically and mentally exhausted; they finally had a safe harbor.

"Soichiro is currently outside leading people to collect supplies. Everyone, feel free to find a house to stay in."
