My luck started turning around after my divorce.

Chapter 29: Luck is Still Very Good

Wang Fang had just landed four orders in a row and was ecstatic, insisting on treating Chen Feng to dinner no matter what.

However, since it wasn't mealtime yet, they decided to go for tea instead.

They went to a relatively famous cafe in the county town. After ordering a pot of tea, some egg tarts, and some dried fruits, the two sat down and chatted for over an hour.

The conversation mostly revolved around their high school days, followed by Wang Fang venting her frustrations and complaining about her husband.

As Chen Feng listened to her relentless grievances about her husband, he began to feel uncomfortable. It felt as if she were talking about his former self. Sensing that the way she looked at him was becoming somewhat unusual, he made an excuse and left in a hurry.

Walking out of the cafe, Chen Feng sighed inwardly. People really do change.

Because of their relationship in high school—especially those days playing basketball together—Chen Feng had always treated her like a "brother." Yet now, she was acting as if she wanted to sleep with him, which left him speechless.

Setting aside the fact that she didn't fit his aesthetic, even if she did, she had a husband and children. Could Chen Feng really stoop to such immoral behavior?

One could only say that human nature is fickle, and the power of money is too tempting.

The once earnest and upright classmate Wang Fang had gone bad!

Sighing and shaking his head, Chen Feng took a taxi to a real estate agency.

He wasn't greeted by a beauty, but by a young man in a suit, looking about twenty-three or twenty-four. Upon hearing that Chen Feng wanted to buy a house in a school district, the young man began calling him "Brother" with great warmth and naturalness.

The reason Chen Feng was buying a house was, of course, not for himself, but for his two nieces. He intended for them to attend school here in the future, as the teaching resources and educational environment in the county town were certainly better than in the rural townships.

Chen Feng was quite familiar with the county town; after all, he had spent three years of high school here and often wandered through its streets and alleys with classmates on weekends.

Most importantly, this little county town was actually quite small.

Currently, there were basically no new developments in the old town. The new town, however, was in the midst of a feverish demolition and construction boom. It was said that the county government would relocate there within the next two years. The court, the procuratorate, an elementary school, and a junior high school had already moved there, and the new site for the county hospital was under active construction, expected to be completed within two years.

The real estate agent, Xiao Yang, showed him the planning maps, and it was indeed as described; Chen Feng had heard rumors about this before.

"Brother, looking at you, your kids must not be very old yet. In that case, you definitely should buy in the new town. This area will become the county center in the future, making it very convenient for the kids' schooling and residency registration. Plus, there are huge discounts on houses in the new town right now, and there's even a lucky draw."

"A lucky draw? What are the prizes?" Chen Feng asked casually.

Xiao Yang quickly introduced them: "The grand prize is a car worth 200,000 yuan, and the smallest prize is one year of waived property management fees, which is about a thousand yuan. As soon as you pay, you can draw right on the spot."

"Is this a scam? Like, they refuse to honor the prize, or it's just a discount on a car down payment?"

Chen Feng wasn't a kid; even if he hadn't experienced such tricks, he had heard of them.

"How could that be?" Xiao Yang promised urgently. "The lucky draw is jointly organized by the real estate developers and spearheaded by the county government. It's absolutely legitimate. It's not just one developer doing this; it has full credibility. In fact, people have already won several prizes. Someone won a family travel package worth 100,000 yuan and redeemed it on the spot, and others who won phones worth several thousand yuan took them immediately."

Thinking that his luck was currently heaven-defying, Chen Feng wondered if he might actually win a car again. He nodded and said, "Alright. Take me to see some houses over there. If they're suitable, I'll buy directly."

"Okay, Brother, I'll take you there right now."

Before long, the two arrived at the new town. Just a few years ago, this area was nothing but farmland and villages, but now the villages and fields were gone, replaced everywhere by high-rises and construction sites.

This area was actually quite close to Qingpu Town. A major road had been built connecting the two a couple of years ago, making it only a ten-minute drive.

"Brother, take a close look. Where would you like to buy? The supporting facilities in this area are quite complete now. You saw that shopping mall over there—it's huge, and the supermarket inside even sells fresh produce. Over on Education Road, there's the Experimental Kindergarten, the County Second Primary School, and the Town Second Middle School. About three or four kilometers past the mountain tunnel is the new campus of the County First High School."

After comparing the planning map for a while, Chen Feng said, "Let's check out that shopping mall first."

"Sure thing, Brother."

Xiao Yang's attitude was impeccable. He led Chen Feng straight to the mall.

The mall had been completed less than two years ago, but it already had a good amount of foot traffic. It had three floors above ground, plus an underground parking garage. The area was quite large, and the supermarket on the second floor was massive, offering a wide variety of fresh vegetables and produce.

Chen Feng was satisfied with what he saw.

When his two nieces grew up and came here for school, there was a high probability his parents would also come to live here, so having easy access to groceries would be very convenient.

Chen Feng said to Xiao Yang, "Just pick the properties closest to this mall for me. The closer, the better."

Xiao Yang beamed and nodded eagerly, "Understood, Brother."

Next, Xiao Yang led Chen Feng to view properties. The closest ones were two thirty-story buildings with annexes.

They had just been completed last year, but there weren't many vacant units left. Chen Feng viewed two sets in succession but wasn't satisfied with either. One was supposed to be on the 15th floor, but it was actually the 13th, because some people are superstitious about the numbers 13 and 14, so those floors were simply skipped.

The 12th floor was followed directly by the 15th. Chen Feng disliked this kind of self-deception.

The layout of another unit was poor, so Chen Feng gave up on it after a quick glance.

"If they're all like this, don't bother showing me more. Do you have anything else?" Chen Feng said, somewhat disappointed.

Xiao Yang hesitated. "There are, but the prices are a bit higher."

"Take me to see them. Price isn't an issue," Chen Feng said grandly.

Currently, housing prices in the new town generally didn't exceed 10,000 yuan per square meter; most were around eight or nine thousand. For Chen Feng, who had tens of millions in cash, this was nothing.

"Alright, Brother, I'll take you there right now. It's on the top floor of this building. Since it's a duplex, the price is a bit higher, but the advantages are obvious. Being on the top floor with elevator access, unlike other residents who might have trouble if the elevator breaks down, this unit has a backup elevator. That makes it better than other floors."

"Fine, take me to see it."

Soon, they viewed the top-floor unit, and Chen Feng liked it at first sight. Even though he wasn't buying it for himself, he was very happy.

He was dying; with tens of millions left, he certainly wanted to spend as much as possible before he passed, primarily on his own family.

However, he didn't want to disrupt the peace of his home before he died, so he certainly couldn't tell his family the truth.

"Alright, this is the one. The price is right. I'll pay in full upfront."

"Great, great, great! Okay, Brother, I'll definitely fight for the biggest discount for you."

Xiao Yang was extremely excited and immediately called the real estate company. After some negotiation, he brought Chen Feng back.

Ultimately, under the temptation of Chen Feng's lump-sum payment, they secured a discount of nearly 100,000 yuan off the original price.

In the end, this nearly 260-square-meter duplex was priced at 2.2 million yuan.

To the current Chen Feng, this price was pocket change. Once the price was settled, they signed the agreement and transferred the funds on the spot.

He gave Xiao Yang an extra 2,000 yuan tip. Xiao Yang patted his chest and guaranteed he could have the property deed processed by tomorrow.

Next, of course, was the lucky draw.

Xiao Yang and a representative from the real estate company accompanied Chen Feng to the site.

Because Chen Feng had bought a duplex, which counted as two units, he was entitled to two draws.

Chen Feng now possessed a mysterious confidence in his luck. He reached directly into the large, transparent lucky draw box and pulled out a card at random.

He opened it to see a photo of a mobile phone printed on the card—a budget "factory girl" phone, though it should still be worth three or four thousand yuan.

"Brother, your luck is incredible! You won a phone straight away!" Xiao Yang, standing nearby, cried out in surprise.

There were quite a few people at the lucky draw center, and upon hearing this, they all gathered around to watch, looking at Chen Feng with envy.

After the staff verified the card, they very efficiently processed the redemption for Chen Feng, and he easily obtained the brand-new budget phone.

Chen Feng remained quite calm about it.

"Brother, you still have one more. Draw again. Your luck is so good today, you might even win the car," Xiao Yang prompted from the side.

Chen Feng nodded with a smile. "I also feel like my luck is exploding today."

As he spoke, Chen Feng went to draw again. This time, he stirred the cards in the box thoroughly before picking one.

He pulled it out, opened it, and won.

*Sigh, life is just so helpless.* His incredible luck happened to arrive right after he was diagnosed with a terminal illness.

"Brother, you... you won the grand prize! You actually won the car! Holy crap!" Xiao Yang finally couldn't help but let out a heavy exclamation.

The onlookers also erupted into excitement.

This was a car worth 200,000 yuan. Even after spending millions on a house, no one would complain about this.

The same went for Chen Feng.

However, he was truly calm. He simply looked at the shocked staff member and said, "Let's redeem the prize."

The prize car was parked right at the entrance of the lucky draw center, under a festive canopy decorated with ribbons and banners for the housing promotion event.

This matter, of course, alerted the main person in charge of the center.

The lucky draw card was unmistakable, the verification was flawless, at least a dozen people had witnessed it on the spot, and there was surveillance footage as proof. There was no room for doubt.

In the end, what else could they do but honor the prize? After all, it was a government-led event, and there were government supervisors present on-site.

After going through the procedures and paying over 10,000 yuan in taxes, about an hour later, Chen Feng finally got his wish and took possession of the Citroën.

Under the gaze of Xiao Yang and the hundreds of people who had rushed over to watch, amidst their incredibly envious eyes, Chen Feng drove the Citroën away.

Winning another car—life was still just as monotonous and dull!

His luck was still just as good!
