My luck started turning around after my divorce.
Chapter 43: Getting to Know Each Other Deeply
It was around seven o'clock when Sun Xiaorui finally returned.
However, she had already messaged Chen Feng on WeChat in advance, telling him not to wait for her and to eat first.
Chen Feng, of course, waited for her so they could eat together, as they were currently living together.
While Chen Feng gave her money, that didn't mean he could disregard her or fail to cherish her.
Most importantly, after spending the last few days together, Sun Xiaorui had satisfied him in almost every aspect.
When Sun Xiaorui saw that Chen Feng hadn't eaten yet and had been waiting for her, she felt a surge of pleasant surprise and moved.
After all, Chen Feng was currently her benefactor and her boss; it was truly rare for someone in his position to show her such respect. Her ex-boyfriend had never respected her like this; usually, it was she who would sit hungry waiting for him to come home to eat. It was rarely the other way around.
Of course, she was past the age of being easily swayed by emotions. She quickly composed herself and ran to the kitchen to reheat the food.
The two finished dinner together in a harmonious atmosphere.
Sun Xiaorui cleared the dishes, wiped the table, and washed the bowls.
Meanwhile, Chen Feng continued to sit in the living room like a lord, watching television.
Once Sun Xiaorui finished her chores, she brought over some brewed tea for Chen Feng.
The two sat side by side, chatting casually while watching TV, appearing very natural and close to one another.
If there had been a sense of strangeness and distance between them before last night, that feeling had vanished after their physical intimacy.
That is the magic of human attraction sometimes.
"There are four people in my family: my parents and a younger brother. My brother is seven years younger than me; he's in university now. What about you?"
This was a deeper exchange of their personal backgrounds.
"I have an older brother, and he has two daughters. My parents are ordinary farmers, and they are both in good health. How about yours?"
"My father is a retired official from a state-owned enterprise, and my mother is a housewife. My father has high blood pressure, but my mother is doing fine."
"Your father is retired?" Chen Feng was a bit puzzled. Sun Xiaorui was only in her mid-twenties; her father shouldn't have reached retirement age yet.
"Yes. He's sixty-three this year. He didn't have me until he was thirty-six, during his second marriage."
Chen Feng was stunned and couldn't help but ask, "Then when he had your brother, wouldn't he have been in his forties?"
Sun Xiaorui rolled her eyes at him but ultimately nodded. "Yes. However, my mother is thirteen years younger than my father. She was only thirty when she had my brother."
*Holy crap!*
Chen Feng was genuinely shocked. Sun Xiaorui's family history was quite something.
However, he knew it wasn't appropriate to keep digging deeper.
"What did you do before?" Sun Xiaorui turned the question toward his profession.
Chen Feng answered candidly, "I used to work at a company, but now I'm unemployed."
"What kind of company?" Sun Xiaorui pressed.
"A cultural planning company." There was no need for Chen Feng to lie to her.
Sun Xiaorui nodded in realization. She naturally assumed that Chen Feng was either the owner of such a company or held a high-ranking position with an annual salary of at least a million yuan.
Otherwise, it wouldn't explain how he was so wealthy—the villa rent was thirty thousand a month, and he gave her fifty thousand a month. That was eighty thousand right there, totaling nearly a million a year.
"Where is your brother studying?" Chen Feng asked with a bit of concern for his "future brother-in-law."
Sun Xiaorui smiled. "Right here in Xiuzhou."
"Ah. Which university?" Chen Feng was slightly surprised.
"Finance University."
"Not bad. Finance University is a top-tier institution. Your brother must be quite bright."
"He's just okay. His major is more of a second-tier level. He took the college entrance exam last year, and his score didn't quite reach 600."
"That's still good. If there's a chance, I'll invite him out for a meal sometime."
Hearing this, Sun Xiaorui grew a bit happy. "Sure! But how should I introduce you? Should I say you're my boyfriend?"
Chen Feng laughed. "Of course your boyfriend. Would you say I'm your lover?"
"Shut up," Sun Xiaorui said, lightly tapping him, "I haven't seen him in almost a month. How about we go visit him in a few days? His school is a bit far from here, and it's inconvenient to travel by bus. Besides, he's always been frugal and hates spending money."
"Alright. We can go see him tomorrow."
"No need for that. Let's do it this Saturday. There are three days left."
"Fine, you decide. After we visit your brother, how about we go on a trip?"
"A trip? Oh, yes! Where would we go?" Sun Xiaorui became instantly excited.
"There are plenty of places I want to go. Domestic first, then international. For domestic, I plan to visit a few famous tourist areas. For international, the first destination would be the States, then Europe, and then I'd like to visit Australia and South America as well."
"Boss, are you serious?" Sun Xiaorui asked, looking shocked.
"Of course I'm serious," Chen Feng said solemnly. "I have money and time, and I have a beauty like you to accompany me. What else would I do if not travel? Do you want to go with me? If you do, all travel expenses will be covered. Plus, there will be an extra allowance."
"I'll go! Of course I'll go!" Sun Xiaorui agreed without hesitation, smiling. "What woman doesn't love traveling? Going to a new place, taking photos, and posting them on WeChat Moments—that's every woman's greatest hobby and interest."
Chen Feng asked jokingly, "Are you that kind of person too?"
"Of course. Every woman is. The invention of WeChat Moments was made specifically for women to show off. Showing off travels, food, luxury goods, kids, romantic moments, and so on—no woman is an exception. Women who don't show off simply don't have the means to do so."
Chen Feng couldn't help but burst into laughter.
"Since you're willing, it's settled. We'll set off after visiting your brother. Before that, we can do some planning and research. If you want to show off, I'll leave that to you. I'll just provide the funds."
"Yes, Boss."
"Don't call me Boss. Call me Feng-ge, or even 'husband'."
Sun Xiaorui smiled. "I'll stick with Feng-ge then."
"Is 'husband' not okay?"
Sun Xiaorui shook her head with great dignity. "You don't treat me as your wife, so it wouldn't be right for me to treat you as my husband. That would be too insincere, don't you think?"
Chen Feng laughed heartily. "Fair enough. I like your straightforward personality. Keep it up."
"Thank you for the compliment, Master."
Sun Xiaorui immediately put on a submissive, obedient act again.
*Her emotional intelligence is really being wasted here,* Chen Feng thought.
Chen Feng shook his head with a smile. "You're not a maid, why call me Master? And you don't need to be so cautious; I'm very easy to get along with."
Sun Xiaorui smiled. "I know you're easy to get along with. Otherwise, I wouldn't have taken the initiative to pursue you back then."
Curious, Chen Feng asked, "Can you tell me why you wanted to pursue me?"
Sun Xiaorui rolled her eyes. "I just wanted to get to know you back then; I wasn't 'pursuing' you."
