Madam's secret identities have caused a sensation across the city again.
Chapter 31: You are Qiao Nian?
Raocheng No. 1 High School is a prestigious century-old institution. Every year, students from the school gain admission to Tsinghua and Peking Universities, and its alumni include numerous famous figures, making it arguably the best school in Raocheng.
It was the start of the new semester, and the school gates were teeming with crowds. Many parents were driving their children to register.
Among them, the royal blue Bentley that Qiao Weimin had newly purchased was exceptionally eye-catching on the road.
Many parents dropping off their children cast curious and envious glances in their direction. Qiao Weimin and Qiao Chen both wore beaming expressions, haughtily accepting the attention coming from all sides.
Qiao Nian took only a single glance before picking up her shoulder bag and entering the school gates, acting as if the two people at the entrance had nothing to do with her.
However, Qiao Chen spotted a flash of blue from a distance. With her sharp eyes, she recognized Qiao Nian from her silhouette. She tugged at Qiao Weimin and pointed at Qiao Nian's back, saying, "Dad, is that Sister? She looks like her from behind."
By the time Qiao Weimin looked in the direction she was pointing, that defiant figure had already vanished into the crowd.
He frowned and said dismissively, "Don't mind her. She won't be in the same class as you anyway. If you run into her at school in the future, just act like you don't know her."
Qiao Chen looked toward the direction where Qiao Nian had disappeared, her lips curling into a slight smile. She stood obediently by Qiao Weimin's side and gave an "mm," hiding the disdain in the depths of her eyes.
That made sense. Given Qiao Nian's grades, she would at most get into Class D or F; if she were any worse, she might even end up in a "trash class" like Class S!
She and Qiao Nian were destined to be as different as the clouds in the sky and the dirt on the ground!
Qiao Chen's mood suddenly brightened. Since the people she usually hung out with had arrived, she tossed Qiao Nian to the back of her mind and began chatting animatedly with Zhao Jingwei and the others.
...
Outside the principal's office.
Qiao Nian knocked on the door.
"Come in."
She pushed the door open. The principal's office was spacious and bright, with a row of green plants arranged in front of the large desk. Aside from the wide leather desk, the walls were lined with bookshelves; a quick glance revealed many original English classics.
She closed the door behind her.
There was more than one person inside.
The first to greet her was a man holding a file folder. He appeared to be in his early forties, with thinning hair and dark, weathered skin, but his eyes were bright and serious. He froze for a moment upon seeing her, then lowered his head to flip through the documents in his hand, letting out an "oh" before asking, "You are Qiao Nian, right?"
A photo was attached to the profile section of the documents. Due to a poor angle and dim lighting, the girl in the photo looked plain and unrefined, her features barely discernible.
The Dean of Students compared the photo to the beautiful, flamboyant, bold, and somewhat nonchalant girl standing before him; no matter how he looked, they didn't match at all.
"You are Qiao Nian?"
Qiao Nian felt his gaze linger on her face for three or four seconds. The corners of her eyes lifted with a hint of nonchalance. "I am Qiao Nian. Hello, Teacher."
That expression was wild to the core!
"Oh, alright, alright. Have a seat first."
There were other teachers in the office, seemingly organizing materials for the new semester. Upon seeing her walk in, their attention shifted toward her.
Chen Xi was among them.
She stared blankly at the girl walking in with the Dean, thinking she had misseen. She nudged the teacher beside her with her elbow and whispered, "Old Liu, is this the new transfer student?"
The Class C homeroom teacher was a simple, honest-looking man. Hearing this, he also glanced curiously toward Qiao Nian and replied, "There is only one transfer student this semester. Since she's here at the principal's office, it must be her. This little girl is quite pretty and looks smart; I wonder how her grades are."
