Mad Beast War God
Chapter 10: The Former Prodigy
Su Zhenglong’s face remained deathly pale, yet his True Qi forced Su Zhengtao to retreat step by step.
“Now, do you still intend to interrogate my daughter?” Su Zhenglong asked in a chilling voice.
Clenching his fists tightly, Su Zhengtao knew full well that Su Yueshi had not stolen any pigs from the farm, and he was equally aware that Su Yun had been the one to insult her first.
Now that Su Zhenglong had arrived, if he continued to frame her and impose punishment, even in his current dire state, he would risk his life to kill him. Su Zhengtao was in the Dark Realm, but he still couldn't defeat Su Zhenglong, who was in the Earth Realm.
Thinking of this, Su Zhengtao let out a soft breath and forced a smile. “Big brother, you’re joking. Since you’ve said so, I certainly wouldn’t dare to interrogate her any further. I wouldn’t want to be the cause of your death, big brother!”
His words were dripping with mockery, as if to say: *Big brother, you’re nearly dead anyway, so what does it matter if I let you have your moment of glory?*
“Hmph.” Su Zhenglong let out a cold snort and slowly withdrew his True Qi.
The next instant, he began to cough violently.
After a long while, Su Zhenglong asked in a hoarse voice, “Then, may I take my daughter and son-in-law away now?”
“Of course. Though, I wonder where you plan to take Yueshi?” Su Zhengtao replied with a cold sneer, reminding him, “Her living at the pig farm was Father’s order. You’d best not anger the old man.”
His words were still laced with threats.
Su Zhenglong glanced at him dismissively. “Naturally, I am taking her home. I will explain things to Father myself; there is no need for you to worry, second brother.”
Having said that, he looked at Su Yueshi and Sikong Jing. “Let’s go.”
Sikong Jing cast a light glance at Su Zhengtao and Su Yun, tossed the disciplinary staff aside, and quickly walked over to Su Zhenglong and his daughter. He said to Su Yueshi, “Let me.”
With that, Sikong Jing supported Su Zhenglong. The man before him was his father-in-law, a father who loved his daughter deeply.
It was just that the injuries on his body looked incredibly severe.
...
Watching the three of them leave, Su Zhengtao’s knuckles cracked as he clenched his fists, his face twisted and sinister. “Su Zhenglong, why won’t you just die?”
The words were squeezed through his teeth, filled with monstrous hatred.
Su Zhenglong had once been the pride of the entire Su family, hailed as the greatest genius in Yunye City. Since childhood, Su Zhengtao had been suppressed by this elder brother, living like a transparent person whom no one noticed.
It wasn't until ten years ago, when Su Zhenglong suffered heavy injuries during a duel, that Su Zhengtao finally had a chance to shine.
It was also that incident that left Su Zhenglong on the verge of death.
Yet, for ten whole years, he still hadn't died. And even in his current crippled state, he still suppressed him in martial arts.
As long as he was willing to risk his life, no one in the entire Su family—except for their father, the Patriarch—was his match.
Even their father couldn't claim a guaranteed victory.
By framing Su Yueshi this time, Su Zhengtao had hoped to anger his big brother to death.
He had calculated everything, but he hadn't counted on him hearing the news and coming to the rescue.
“Father, are we just going to let that ugly freak Su Yueshi go?” Su Yun asked, filled with resentment.
Su Zhengtao breathed heavily, his gaze sharpening as he said coldly, “Hmph, didn’t Su Zhenglong say I was bullying a junior? Go call your second brother. Have him go directly to their home and challenge that criminal to a duel, and beat him to death.”
Su Yun’s face lit up with joy upon hearing this. “That’s right! Second brother is still at home. I’ll go find him to vent my anger.”
...
Outside the Su family’s Law Enforcement Hall, Su Yueshi and Sikong Jing supported Su Zhenglong as they left.
“Father, when did you wake up? Why did you come here? Does Mother know?”
Su Yueshi asked three questions in a row.
Her anxious emotions began to settle; with her father here, there was nothing to fear.
A doting smile appeared on Su Zhenglong’s pale face. He replied, “Of course your mother doesn’t know, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to come.”
Hearing this, Su Yueshi’s expression stiffened, and she sighed dejectedly.
Sikong Jing, walking beside them, felt a bit puzzled... If Su Yueshi’s mother—his own mother-in-law—knew, why wouldn’t she let her husband save their daughter? What kind of logic was that?
Shouldn’t Su Yueshi’s mother be even more anxious?
However, Su Yueshi had been living at the pig farm for five days with him, and this mother-in-law seemed to have shown no concern at all.
As a new son-in-law, it was naturally difficult for Sikong Jing to ask about this directly.
As the father and daughter continued to talk, Sikong Jing learned that his father-in-law, Su Zhenglong, had been bedridden for years, often in a coma, and when he fell into one, it would last for days.
He had only learned that Su Yueshi had been betrothed to him after waking up today.
Upon hearing that Su Yueshi was living at the pig farm, the father-in-law had hidden it from his wife, dragged his sick body out to see his daughter, and only then heard that she had been framed and taken to the Law Enforcement Hall, prompting him to rush over to save her.
Looking at Su Zhenglong, a trace of respect appeared in Sikong Jing’s eyes.
Halfway through their conversation, Su Zhenglong suddenly looked at the quiet Sikong Jing and asked with a smile, “I really didn’t expect that when I woke up, my precious daughter would already be married... What is your name?”
Sikong Jing straightened his expression and replied, “Father-in-law, my name is Sikong Jing.”
“Sikong Jing, a good name.” Su Zhenglong praised him, then asked with a deep, piercing gaze, “You are only at the fourth level of the Bright Realm, yet you dared to fight against Su Zhengtao of the Dark Realm. Are you not afraid of death?”
As he said this, Su Zhenglong stared intently at Sikong Jing.
