Chapter 1: Prologues Are Unnecessary

“Ring-a-ling~

Ring-a-ling~”

In a hazy state, a noisy alarm clock sound rang out, as if it were right beside Hayato’s ear.

“Hayato, hurry up and wake up~”

A woman’s voice drifted over.

“Ring-a-ling~”

The sound of the alarm clock continued.

Disturbed and unable to sleep, Hayato opened his eyes. Blocking the sunlight streaming into the room from the window with one hand, he lay on the bed and stared at the ceiling: “An unfamiliar ceiling. Ah, isn’t that line a bit too cliché?”

Sitting up from the bed, Hayato, sporting a pair of dead fish eyes, looked at his surroundings—a pink quilt that could only be described as “cute” was draped over him, and on the computer screen placed directly across from the bed, the “Windows” logo, which never hits the corner, floated endlessly.

Reaching out from under the quilt to press the alarm clock that wouldn’t stop ringing on the nightstand, Hayato could swear on his own manhood that this was absolutely, definitely, positively not his room.

First of all, when he fell asleep, it should have been 2021. Not to mention that the computer operating system had long since been updated to Win10, even Win7 was nearing the end of its life, let alone the XP system, which was classic but truly obsolete.

Secondly, he was a man. Although he could accept, and even quite like, the color pink under limited circumstances—like eating strawberry ice cream or watching Kamen Rider (Decade: That’s magenta!)—he would absolutely never choose a pink quilt for sleeping. That’s just too girly—

Wait, is it actually not that bad? Tilting his head to look at the quilt, Hayato instantly changed his tune.

But to say this was a girl’s room, something seemed off. The large cabinet in the corner, packed densely with figures and model toys, could be understood as the room owner being an otaku passionate about such things, but the posters plastered all over the walls were filled with various realistic-looking, strange monsters.

The minotaur holding an axe, the knight wielding a sharp sword, and the murloc with a spear could be seen as posters of characters from some popular fantasy work, but—

A deformed green body covered in black triangles, with three necks connected to the torso, topped with three mask-like heads;

A dinosaur with chicken feet and a long, electric-discharging horn on its nose, yet there was a slit on the back of its neck that was full of sharp teeth, revealing yet another mouth;

There were even posters of things like a mammoth skeleton that looked like it had just been dug out of the ground, a strange creature covered in long black hair, and a lion wearing a cloak.

Looking at the posters on the wall, Hayato couldn’t help but sigh: “Although I don’t know who brought me here, the guy who lives here has some wild tastes. Look at this? There’s even a tentacle monster, *gasp*.”

At this moment, the voice Hayato had vaguely heard earlier came again: “Hayato, are you still not up? You’re going to be late~”

The tightly shut door opened, and the owner of the voice walked into the room. Hayato turned his head to look.

Wearing a pale purple apron tied around her waist and carrying a bamboo basket full of clothes, the beautiful woman had a gentle smile on her face as she looked at Hayato, who was standing in front of the bed: “What’s wrong, you child? I called you for ages and you didn’t make a sound. I thought you’d overslept.”

“Hayato, are you calling me?” Hayato asked, feeling a bit uncertain. One thing was certain: before today, Hayato had never seen this woman before. It wasn’t that Hayato had some photographic memory capable of memorizing 103,000 light novels; it was simply because the woman’s appearance was far too outstanding.

Words like “vermilion lips and white teeth,” “bright eyes and pearly teeth,” and “moth-like eyebrows” seemed as if they were designed specifically for the woman before him. Although her figure looked a bit too flat—without much curvature in the front or back—just based on her face and the gentle, refined temperament she exuded, Hayato guaranteed that if he had seen her before, he would never have forgotten it.

“Honestly, you really are a naughty child, are you joking with me?” The woman smiled softly and grabbed the doorknob. “Alright, alright, hurry up and change your clothes so you can go downstairs for breakfast. I won’t look; I still have to go do the laundry.”

As she closed the door, the woman added: “Hurry up, or I’ll eat all the breakfast, hehe~” Saying this, she gave Hayato a playful wink and closed the door.

Hayato silently lowered his head and looked at his hands.

While talking to the woman just now, Hayato noticed one thing—was the other person a bit too short? But he quickly realized it wasn’t that she was too short, but that he was too tall. His height even exceeded the door frame, reaching a rather “Jojo-esque” 1.95 meters. So, you can actually grow taller when you transmigrate?

Another thing was that Hayato definitely remembered he hadn’t seen the woman, yet she knew Hayato and even acted quite familiarly as an elder. Hayato thought of a possibility—his appearance probably, maybe, hadn’t changed.

Looking down at his hands, Hayato confirmed—damn, this isn’t my body!

Rubbing his slender, long arms, Hayato clearly remembered that he had a scar on his left elbow from a burn, but now that scar had vanished without a trace. Even the skin, which was originally a bit rough and covered in fine hair, had become incredibly smooth.

It was almost like a girl’s—

Thinking of a terrifying possibility, Hayato suddenly pulled open his pajama pants, leaned toward the window to look down in the sunlight, and finally let out a sigh of relief—fortunately, Hayato’s “little brother” was still there and hadn’t disappeared because of the rash vow he had made earlier.

“So what exactly is going on? Does this count as transmigration or what?” Taking a set of clothes from the wardrobe, Hayato took off his pajamas, thinking to himself while internally complaining, “Speaking of which, such a large wardrobe is stuffed with clothes, but they are all the exact same style. Isn’t ‘I’ a bit too much?”

There was a messenger bag on the computer desk and a blue jacket hanging on the computer chair. After thinking for a moment, Hayato put the computer, which was still showing a screensaver, into sleep mode, picked up the jacket, draped it over his shoulders, and walked out of the room carrying the bag.

As he walked out, Hayato glanced a few more times at the posters on the wall he hadn’t finished looking at. He saw that a few of the “monsters” looked quite familiar, such as a black-robed mage holding a bright green staff, a black dragon spitting flames, and a white giant dragon that looked like the embodiment of light.

He wanted to find more information and clues, but considering the woman’s instructions earlier, Hayato withdrew his gaze without lingering and walked down the stairs.

Started a new book again, hehe.
