Chapter 40: A Novel Flight Lesson

Everyone gazed up at Chu Yang, who had already soared high into the sky, their mouths agape alongside a startled Madam Hooch.

Since the invention of the broomstick, no wizard had ever flown while standing on one, and damn it all, Chu Yang was actually doing it.

Even those wizards who flew in the standard seated position weren't necessarily successful on their first attempt...

"I have to say, standing on a broom is much cooler than sitting, don't you think, Harry?" Ron whispered in Harry's ear, tilting his head.

"It is pretty cool, like surfing in the sky," Harry nodded, but then added worriedly, "But it's too dangerous. If you aren't holding onto the broom with your hands, how do you control it? If he falls from up there, a few days in the hospital won't be enough!"

An anxious Hermione ran to Madam Hooch's side to remind her, "You should fly up and bring Chu Yang back; this is getting too dangerous."

Madam Hooch snapped out of her daze and hurriedly mounted her broom, but at that very moment, Neville let out a sharp scream.

At some point, Neville had tried to mimic Chu Yang's posture by stepping onto his broom, but lacking Chu Yang's control, he could only crouch low on it. He began to hover, wobbling unsteadily, already five or six meters off the ground.

He looked like he was squatting in mid-air to take a dump...

"Neville, what are you doing?"

"I just wanted to try! I didn't expect..."

As he spoke, Neville jolted violently in the air, scaring him into immediate silence as he focused all his attention on controlling the broom.

But it was useless!

Neville continued to rise. He looked down at his feet, and his entire body froze as he sat motionless on the broom.

Soaring through the sky, Chu Yang was completely unaware of the commotion below; he was currently having the time of his life.

The reason Chu Yang could stand steadily on the broom without falling was due to the immense physical control granted by his superhuman constitution.

Additionally, his magic, which possessed the power of Wood Release, helped him communicate better with wooden magical objects, allowing for precise control even without the use of his hands.

Based on these two points, he was able to perform such an outrageous maneuver.

In truth, Chu Yang hadn't intended to do this at first; he had prepared to learn flying step-by-step just like the other students!

But memory is a terrifying thing sometimes!

Having watched many Xianxia dramas in the past, Chu Yang had a profound impression of "sword flying." Consequently, when he saw the broom by his feet, he instinctively stepped onto it.

And then, he actually took off!

Chu Yang enjoyed the sensation of the wind whistling past his ears. As his altitude continued to rise, the adrenaline in his body surged.

The thrill of flying was far more intense than driving at three hundred miles per hour!

*This feeling is quite exhilarating, though stepping on a broom feels a bit awkward. When I have time in the future, I'll have to ask if I can custom-order a different shape,* Chu Yang thought, feeling it was slightly imperfect.

As Chu Yang prepared to return, he saw two figures rapidly approaching him from below.

The out-of-control Neville!

And the anxious Madam Hooch!

As she rushed toward Neville, she was praying in her heart.

It wasn't as if there hadn't been accidents with first-years in previous years, but nothing had ever been this absurd, leaving even the experienced Madam Hooch feeling a bit flustered.

Seeing Neville in danger, Chu Yang immediately charged toward him. One rushed up and the other rushed down; in the instant they passed each other, Chu Yang swiftly leaped to the other side.

Neville first felt the broom plunge sharply downward, followed immediately by a violent impact from beneath him that knocked his hands away from where they were gripping the broom.

This was because when Chu Yang's magic established a connection with the broomstick, he was actually forcibly seizing control of the broom from Neville!

In terms of both quality and quantity, Chu Yang's magic was incomparable to Neville's. Thus, when the two came into conflict, Neville's hands were instantly repelled by the counter-flowing magic.

"Hold steady!"

As Neville flailed his arms wildly in the air, he vaguely heard Chu Yang's voice, and simultaneously felt someone press down firmly on his shoulders.

Without thinking, Neville, who was crouching on the broom, turned around and hugged Chu Yang's leg. He took a deep breath and straightened his body; as he gradually calmed down, the broom also became stable.

Only then did Chu Yang control the broom to descend toward the pitch.

This maneuver left Madam Hooch, who was following behind, completely stunned!

Professor McGonagall, watching from her office, was also stunned!

As a Quidditch fanatic, Professor McGonagall swore she had never seen such a way of handling a broomstick!

Even more unbelievable was that she had witnessed the entire process of Chu Yang forcibly seizing Neville's control over the broom!

Was this something a human could do?

If she hadn't witnessed it with her own eyes, Professor McGonagall would never have believed such a thing existed!

Chu Yang grabbed the shaken Neville and landed on the pitch. In the next second, the entire field erupted in thunderous cheers.

Even Madam Hooch, after landing, couldn't help but clap and say, "Mr. Chu Yang, that was a truly imaginative way of flying. You saved your classmate. May I know how you did it?"

"Just by feel, I'm not quite sure myself..." Chu Yang scratched his head somewhat awkwardly. How was he supposed to explain this?

It wasn't a technical issue; it was a matter of constitution. As the saying goes, people are built differently.

"That is indeed true. It is difficult to summarize much experience from a first flight; most wizards rely on instinct."

To Madam Hooch, Chu Yang's explanation seemed perfectly reasonable. She smiled and said, "However, the emergence of a brand-new flying posture might just have an impact on the sport of Quidditch."

At the mention of Quidditch, the atmosphere on the pitch instantly heated up, much like football fans hearing about the World Cup.

Madam Hooch looked down at Neville and asked, "Mr. Longbottom, are you alright? Can you continue with the lesson?"

Neville, whose legs were still a bit weak, nodded.

"Then please, everyone, practice what I have just taught you. Wait for me; I will be back shortly." With that, Madam Hooch turned and walked toward the school building.

Once Madam Hooch left, the first-years couldn't care less about practicing. They quickly swarmed around Chu Yang, chirping and clamoring to learn how to fly by standing.

Chu Yang explained helplessly, "I told you, it's just by feel! I can't teach you!"

"Chu Yang has made himself very clear, so stop making things difficult for him!" Hermione, with her bushy golden hair, stood in front of Chu Yang like a bristling kitten, her tone stern as she blocked the other students one by one.

Seeing this, Ron and Harry also stepped forward, advising everyone to return to their positions to avoid being seen by Madam Hooch and losing points.

Disappointed, everyone returned to their spots and began practicing according to Madam Hooch's instructions.

Hermione crept up to Chu Yang's side and whispered

"I helped you drive them away. You'd better remember to teach me."
