Chapter 11: Livestream E-commerce
"Wow, this place looks pretty nice."
Upon arriving at their destination, Fan Shengmei looked at the office building in front of her with some surprise. She had originally assumed that the "small company" Qin Hao spoke of would be some kind of workshop. Given how expensive rent was in Shanghai, she figured he would have chosen somewhere remote and run-down. She hadn't expected it to be in such a professional office building.
Guan Ju'er pushed up her glasses. "The rent here shouldn't be cheap, right?"
Qin Hao led the way, smiling as he heard this. "It's alright. It’s mainly to make it more convenient when negotiating partnerships. Clients look at your strength when they decide to invest."
Qiu Yingying raised her hand. "I know, I know! This is called 'respecting the clothes, not the person.' Brother, you wear designer brands and expensive watches just to keep up appearances, right?"
"Oh, look at you using idioms. Not bad," Qin Hao said, ruffling Qiu Yingying's hair.
"What do you mean? I'm a graduate of a legitimate four-year university, okay?" Qiu Yingying pouted in dissatisfaction.
"Haha~~~" The women giggled as they stepped into the elevator.
*Ding.* As they stepped out of the elevator, Fan Shengmei froze. Usually, a floor in an office building like this should house several companies, but she noticed there was only one door in front of them. Everything else was sealed off, and only one company sign hung in the hallway.
*Did we get off on the wrong floor?* Fan Shengmei wondered.
Qiu Yingying shared the same suspicion, but before they could collect their thoughts, they saw the two young women at the front desk greeting Qin Hao respectfully.
"Boss."
"Good morning, Boss."
Qin Hao nodded at them nonchalantly. "Morning."
After entering the office, Fan Shengmei, Qiu Yingying, and Guan Ju'er were all stunned. Even Andy looked at Qin Hao with a hint of surprise.
The place was massive. The entire floor seemed to be an open-plan space that had been converted into a two-story structure. In total, it was at least a thousand square meters, and the decor was sophisticated, giving off a very high-tech vibe.
"Good morning, Manager Qiu."
"Morning, Manager Qiu."
Watching the employees constantly greeting Qin Hao, Fan Shengmei’s brain went into a state of system failure. This was the "small company" Qin Hao had described?
Qiu Yingying and Guan Ju'er exchanged glances, their jaws practically hitting the floor.
Qin Hao chuckled to himself as he walked and introduced the space.
"The bottom floor is the dedicated office area. This is the reception area, this is the workspace, over there is the pantry and lounge, and this is my office. I'll give you a tour in a bit."
"The floor above is dedicated to live-streaming studios. There are ten in total. The ones with the lights on are currently in use."
As he spoke, Qin Hao led the women into an empty studio.
"These rooms were partitioned later. To get better soundproofing, every wall is lined with acoustic foam, and the windows and door frames have been sealed."
As soon as she heard this, Qiu Yingying grabbed Guan Ju'er to close the door and test the soundproofing. They discovered it was exactly as Qin Hao said—you couldn't hear a thing from inside even if you shouted.
"Professional," Fan Shengmei said, feeling a bit tempted.
Qin Hao then led them into another studio that had just finished a broadcast.
"We set up the scene differently depending on the products we're selling. For example, this studio just finished selling beauty products. The shelves in the back and the posters around the room were all carefully curated. We have professional set designers for that."
"Our live-streaming sales business is just getting started, so for now, we're only taking on small items like 3C electronics, beauty products, and daily necessities. If we take on larger items like furniture or equipment later, this space won't be enough, and we'll have to rent a larger venue."
Qiu Yingying, being bold and unreserved, pulled Guan Ju'er over to the live-streaming desk.
"Wow, Guan Guan, look! This brand of face cream is so expensive. A colleague of mine bought one bottle and it cost several hundred yuan."
The employees in the studio subconsciously looked at Qin Hao.
Qin Hao nodded at them. "This is my younger sister and her friend, Xiao Guan."
Hearing that they were the boss's sister and friend, the employees immediately became enthusiastic and even gifted Qiu Yingying and Guan Ju'er some beauty products.
Guan Ju'er was naturally too embarrassed to take them, but Qin Hao smiled and said, "Take them. These are just samples sent by the manufacturers; it doesn't cost anything anyway."
Qiu Yingying's eyes widened.
"There's such a good deal? Guan Guan, hurry up and take them! My bag is already full. If I’d known, I would’ve brought a bigger bag!"
The employees in the studio couldn't help but laugh. The host smiled at Qin Hao and said, "Boss, your sister is really cute."
Fan Shengmei’s eyes lit up as well. Setting aside how much money she could make, just being able to take home beauty samples would save her a lot of money. Once a woman hits thirty, her reliance on cosmetics grows, and most of her monthly expenses went toward them.
"Let's go, let's sit in my office."
Qin Hao led them to his office. As soon as Qiu Yingying entered, she sat right in the boss's chair and spun around a few times.
"Wow, this chair is so comfortable. I don't even want to get up."
Fan Shengmei felt a wave of envy. *My god, what kind of god-tier brother is this? Can someone get me one too?*
Qin Hao had his secretary bring them drinks and bottled water, then sat down across from Fan Shengmei.
"Sister Fan, you've seen the environment. How do you feel? Are you interested in giving it a try?"
Fan Shengmei subconsciously looked at Andy. Andy shrugged. "I think it's worth a try. It won't interfere with your job; just treat it as a side gig."
"But, I've never done anything like this before," Fan Shengmei said, feeling conflicted. She wanted to do it, but she was afraid she wouldn't be good at it. Someone who had been emotionally manipulated by their family for years inevitably lacked self-confidence.
Qin Hao spread his hands. "Sister Fan, being a streamer isn't as hard as you think. You can start as a beauty streamer—you're familiar with that, right? You saw the host just now; her image and temperament aren't as good as yours. Besides, being a host is mostly about stirring up the audience's emotions to sell products. As a senior HR professional, you shouldn't have any trouble with that."
Just then, the secretary knocked and entered, handing a document to Qin Hao. Qin Hao nodded at her, and after she left, he handed the document directly to Fan Shengmei.
Fan Shengmei took it with some confusion. She opened it and froze. The sales volume for that last live stream had actually exceeded ten million? She looked at the host's commission—it was over two thousand yuan. Was this money coming in too fast?
"That's the data from the last stream. We analyze the data from every broadcast to research the theme and script for the next one, so you don't have to worry about not knowing what to say. Just follow the script. In the beginning, there will be experienced hosts to guide you."
Qiu Yingying chimed in, "Yeah, Sister Fan, you're so capable, you'll definitely be fine."
"Sister Fan, the conditions Brother Qiu is offering are so good, you really should try it. If I weren't so afraid of being in front of the camera, I'd want to try it myself," Guan Ju'er added.
Fan Shengmei finally gritted her teeth. "Alright, I'll give it a try. But Qiu Yan, if it doesn't work out, don't worry about saving my face. You've already helped me enough."
Qin Hao nodded. "Of course. Friendship is friendship, business is business. I won't bring personal feelings into work, and I hope you won't either."
"Mm."
"Xiao Zhao, bring over a streamer contract."
