Chapter 25: Assessment Passed

Qin Hao frowned deeply upon hearing this, and Dean Xiuyan’s face was filled with disappointment.

"Then, is it still possible for him to have normal contact with people despite this symptom?"

The elderly expert explained patiently, "Of course it is possible. Actually, his main issue right now is not a mental illness, but autism. Autism can be cured, but it requires a vast amount of time and energy. Illness comes like a mountain collapsing, but recovery is like pulling silk from a cocoon; you must have a clear understanding of this as a family member."

As he spoke, the elderly expert sighed, "I have seen many similar cases. In fact, most mental illnesses can be controlled through long-term medication, even if they cannot be fully cured. Many times, it is not the patient who gives up first, but the family."

Qin Hao couldn't help but think of Andy's father, Wei Guoqiang, and his maternal grandfather, He Yunli. Both had abandoned their wives and daughters. Although it was immoral and deserving of contempt, such things were actually not uncommon; otherwise, there wouldn't be so many homeless people with mental illnesses on the streets.

"Alright, thank you, Doctor. We choose to accept the treatment. However, Dean Xiuyan cannot stay in Shanghai for long, and Xiao Ming cannot be without her..." Qin Hao felt a moment of hesitation.

The elderly expert thought for a moment and provided a treatment plan: "Hmm, I can prescribe more medication for you. You only need to bring him back for a follow-up exam once every two months. However, his autism requires psychological counseling, and you will have to find a way to handle that yourselves."

"That's easy to arrange. I will hire a psychologist to go to Daishan to provide psychological counseling for Xiao Ming." Qin Hao didn't mind spending a bit more money; after all, he couldn't take any money from this world with him anyway.

As they left the hospital, Dean Xiuyan was about to offer her thanks, but Qin Hao quickly stopped her.

"Please don't be so polite, Dean Xiuyan. I am merely acting on someone's request. Besides, I only spent a little money. Xiao Ming has been so well cared for; it is we who should be thanking you."

Dean Xiuyan was a very pure-hearted person. While many families avoided mental patients at all costs, Dean Xiuyan, despite having no blood relation to Xiao Ming, had cared for him day after day for ten years. The effort she put in was beyond words; Qin Hao felt nothing but admiration for such a person.

After arranging for Dean Xiuyan and Xiao Ming to rest in Shanghai for one night, Old Liu drove them back to Daishan early the next morning.

It was another weekend. After Qin Hao finished practicing martial arts with Zhao Qiping, they walked out of the gym. Zhao Qiping suggested treating him to a meal, but Qin Hao declined.

"Forget it for today. I have things to do in a bit."

Zhao Qiping glanced at the time. "It's already this late. You just exerted so much energy; aren't you hungry?"

Qin Hao shrugged. "You're the one who exerted more energy. I'm fine."

"Hey, that's going too far! Don't be so insulting," Zhao Qiping protested.

Qin Hao rolled down the car window. "I'm just stating a fact. Fine, I'll owe you this meal; I'll pay you back next time."

"In your dreams! Once this chance is gone, it's gone for good."

After a bout of bickering, Qin Hao drove his car toward the company.

Today was Fan Shengmei's assessment day. Guan Ju'er and Qiu Yingying had both gone to the company and had made an appointment with Qin Hao beforehand: if Fan Shengmei passed the assessment, they would all have a meal together to celebrate.

If she didn't pass? Then it would serve as a way to comfort her.

When Qin Hao arrived at the company, Guan Ju'er and Qiu Yingying were waiting anxiously outside a room.

"Brother, you're finally here! Why are you so late?" Qiu Yingying complained, tugging at Qin Hao's arm.

Qin Hao pulled her away irritably. "Look at you. You're more nervous than Sister Fan. Don't you know that nervousness is contagious?"

"Oh, right, my pig brain." Qiu Yingying realized this and smacked her own head hard, filled with regret.

Qin Hao shook his head helplessly. Although this girl's emotional intelligence had improved after the incident with the scumbag, she still habitually relied on instinct rather than thought when doing things.

Guan Ju'er looked somewhat unnatural when she saw Qin Hao. Ever since the incident in the underground garage, she had been avoiding him.

Qin Hao did not disturb the assessment inside but instead took them to his office to wait for news.

The assessment for streamers in the company was actually quite simple: they would start a rehearsal live stream, during which the judges would simulate sudden unexpected events and ask the streamer questions. Finally, a score would be given based on the streamer's performance during the normal live stream.

In this session, Fan Shengmei had a total of eighteen streamers in training, but only three would ultimately pass. The assessment was quite strict, but even if one failed, they could continue learning; they just wouldn't receive a salary. Compared to other training institutions that charged money for training, Qin Hao's place was quite conscientious.

"Stop pacing around. You're making my head spin," Qin Hao complained.

Seeing that Qin Hao was still leisurely sipping tea, Guan Ju'er puffed out her cheeks and said, "Brother Qiu, we are dying of nervousness. How can you not be worried at all?"

"What's there to panic about? Even if she doesn't pass, she won't be fired immediately. At most, she'll train for another month. Whatever she learns will be her own wealth." As Qin Hao was speaking, there was a knock on the office door.

"Come in."

"President Qiu, here is the list of those who passed today's assessment."

"Okay, I got it. You may go back to your work."

As soon as the assistant left, Qiu Yingying snatched the document from Qin Hao's hand. Qin Hao didn't mind and continued drinking his tea.

"Ah~~~!"

Guan Ju'er was startled by Qiu Yingying's scream. "What happened? Did she pass?"

"She passed! Sister Fan passed the assessment!" Qiu Yingying grabbed Guan Ju'er and started jumping up and down.

When Guan Ju'er saw Fan Shengmei's name on the list, she also started screaming.

Qin Hao picked his ear, looking helplessly at the two of them acting like lunatics.

After a while, Qiu Yingying suddenly realized, "Where is Sister Fan?"

"Right, why isn't Sister Fan here?" As Guan Ju'er spoke, she pulled Qiu Yingying to go find Fan Shengmei.

Qin Hao followed them, only to find after a search that Fan Shengmei was hiding in the ladies' restroom, crying her eyes out.

"Sister Fan, what's wrong?" Qiu Yingying and Guan Ju'er looked at each other. Shouldn't they be happy at a time like this?

Fan Shengmei hugged them both without saying a word. Only she knew what passing this assessment meant to her. She finally wouldn't have to live every day in constant fear, terrified that a single phone call from her parents would take away all her remaining living expenses.

With this income from being a streamer, she could finally look forward to buying a house in Shanghai.

Having a home in Shanghai had been her obsession for years. She had finally taken the first step at the age of thirty. Although it was a bit late, she believed things would get better.

Qiu Yingying's eyes grew a bit sore seeing Fan Shengmei like this, and Guan Ju'er found herself struggling to comfort both of them at once.

It took a long time for the three of them to compose themselves. Fan Shengmei even touched up her makeup before finally coming out of the restroom.

"You're finally out. Let's go! To celebrate Sister Fan passing her assessment, I'm treating you all to a big meal!"

Qiu Yingying cheered, "Wow, hurray! My stomach has been empty for ages!"

"Thank you," Fan Shengmei said to Qin Hao from the bottom of her heart.
