Novel

Even if you belong to a demonic cult, you must still bring glory to the country.

Chapter 3: There is also internal kung fu!

In the end, Li Sui didn't manage to leave.

It was all because of Zhiniang.

As for her grandmother, Li Sui wasn't sure if Li Ping was just pulling her leg, but Li Ping was indeed heading to Fucheng.

The usually stingy Li Ping had even gone to great lengths this time, splurging on plane tickets.

Li Sui decided she would wait until she had concrete evidence before going to see this grandmother she hadn't met in over twenty years.

To that end, she instructed Li Ping, who was leaving ahead of her: "If you find out the truth, make sure the Li family finds a way to get Zhiniang an ID card first. She's still an undocumented person."

That was why she didn't dare leave.

Li Ping’s gaze turned strange. "Li Sui, have you become so bold that you're kidnapping people now?"

"It's not kidnapping! I'll explain when you get back!"

Li Ping seemed to have deep concerns of her own, so she didn't press further.

She did depart, however, saying before she left: "I left some food in the fridge for a few days. Figure it out yourself."

And so, only Li Sui and Zhiniang remained in the house.

Li Sui breathed a sigh of relief.

She hadn't quite figured out how to explain Zhiniang's origins to Li Ping, nor had she decided on the fact that, in all likelihood, Zhiniang would be staying.

She didn't know why Zhiniang had traveled through time, or when she would be able to go back.

Furthermore, was Zhiniang the only one?

Li Sui suddenly felt a chill down her neck.

Zhiniang had listened to the entire conversation. Understanding modern language wasn't particularly difficult for her, so she simply smiled and said, "The Cult Leader's mother is quite an interesting person."

Only then did Li Sui get down to business. "Zhiniang, what were you doing before you came here?"

She remembered that the reason she had traveled back was because she had died.

Yes, she had truly died.

That era was chaotic and filled with legends of the martial arts world; not only was the Demonic Cult rampant, but various righteous sects were everywhere as well.

As the Leader of the Demonic Cult, Li Sui had been tracked down while out searching for something. She had been alone at the time, and she didn't even know how her identity as the Cult Leader had been exposed.

Even though she had claimed to be leading the Demonic Cult toward a new path, would those righteous sects believe her?!

In the midst of the struggle, before the righteous sects could even strike, she had lost her footing and tumbled off a cliff.

Fortunately, she didn't suffer the horror of being crushed to pieces; in short, when she opened her eyes, she was back.

Before her departure, the Demonic Cult had been flourishing. Because she had "coerced and enticed" the members and "reluctantly" protected a group of refugees displaced by war, everyone was moving toward a brand-new future under her leadership. It was just a pity she had left too soon.

Upon realizing she could return, Li Sui had felt a sense of regret.

If she had stayed a little longer, life in the Demonic Cult might have been even better, because there were many things she knew that the Cult simply couldn't manufacture.

Zhiniang's eyes flickered, and then she covered her mouth with a laugh. "I was sleeping quite soundly in my bed, and when I opened my eyes, I was here and saw the Cult Leader. I must be very lucky."

"The Cult Leader's era is quite interesting. I suppose it must be a fate ordained by the heavens."

Li Sui didn't say much, nor did she ask if the Demonic Cult had received news of her death.

If Zhiniang had traveled through time immediately after her death, then the people of the Demonic Cult were likely from her same time period. Since the Cult was developing well, the common people there were already becoming self-sufficient, and the wars were nearing an end. As long as things went well, life could continue.

While she was lost in thought, she suddenly saw Zhiniang's sleeve flutter. Those red, thin silk water-sleeves swept up the warm water Li Sui had just poured and brought it right in front of Zhiniang.

Zhiniang took a tentative sniff and then began to drink the water.

Li Sui's eyes went wide. "Zhiniang, do you still have your internal martial arts power?"

Zhiniang looked puzzled. "Naturally."

Li Sui: "..."

Damn it!

That world actually had internal martial arts!

Those people from the Demonic Cult and the martial arts world weren't so exaggerated that they could move mountains or fly through the heavens, but they truly possessed a touch of the fantastical!

If they used their momentum correctly, they could even soar into mid-air and hover for a moment.

And as a modern person, Li Sui simply couldn't cultivate!

She had assumed it was because her world lacked spiritual energy, and since she had traveled through time in her physical body, she couldn't enjoy the benefits.

She had been envious to death back then.

And yet, here we are.

Why on earth does Zhiniang still have her internal power?!

Shouldn't it have been wiped out by the pollution of the 21st century by now?!

As if sensing something, Zhiniang suddenly gave a graceful smile. She lightly tapped the wall with her toe, and then her entire body rose into the air with effortless grace, her red skirt fluttering. The scene was as beautiful as something out of a television drama.

Then—she landed lightly on the dining table, reclined sideways, and even threw a flirtatious wink at Li Sui.

Li Sui replied coldly, "...Get down! You sat your butt on the place where we eat. Am I supposed to eat dinner tonight?"

Li Sui began to feel grateful that she had caught Zhiniang directly. If Zhiniang had traveled here without knowing anything, given her personality, Li Sui was afraid she might assault a passerby and get picked up by a research institution—

If it were just a normal time traveler, it would be one thing, but a person like Zhiniang, who possessed internal martial arts, would certainly not be accepted by normal society.

Thus, Li Sui stared at her seriously and earnestly. "Zhiniang, our society is very peaceful. There are no wars or conflicts—occasional fights might happen, but they are illegal. You must never expose the fact that you have internal power. In the future, you must act like an ordinary person. Use your own hands to eat and drink; don't use those sleeves to scoop things up!"

"Furthermore, you might be an expert back there, but here, there are many weapons that can deal with you. You must stay vigilant. Of course, as long as you follow the rules, you will be fine. I'll find a way to get you an ID card."

Hearing this, a bright light appeared in Zhiniang's eyes. "No wars... no wars..."

She stood up and murmured, "Can everyone... eat their fill?"

She had only briefly scanned her surroundings, but because she had practiced martial arts since childhood, her senses were incredibly sharp. She had already seen things that were different from the surface level of that era.

There were no emaciated, sallow-skinned people here...

There were very few people with lifeless eyes, and even the few thin ones didn't look like they were starving.

Their complexion was simply too healthy to mistake.

While Li Sui was worrying about how to solve Zhiniang's identity issue, she simply nodded upon hearing her words. "Our era is very good. Since you've come, I don't know when you'll travel back, but I'll take you around to have some fun."

Actually, she had a suspicion: would it be like her?

That you could go back by dying.

But she couldn't let Zhiniang test that.

What if it didn't work?

Unable to return to the past, Li Sui didn't dare make any reckless assumptions.

Life had been very hard for the people of the Demonic Cult before. If they could live a good life, who would choose to be in the Demonic Cult?

The same went for Zhiniang.

She said very little about her past, but her simple words allowed one to glimpse a certain level of misery.

Li Sui wouldn't poke at someone's scars.

Since she was here, she might as well enjoy it.

At that moment, she noticed an unnatural red spot on the hem of Zhiniang's skirt, close to a dark crimson. It was clearly a trace of blood.

Zhiniang loved cleanliness; there was no way she hadn't noticed it.

Li Sui was somewhat surprised. "Why is your skirt dirty? Did you fight someone before you came here?"
