Dual Transmigration: Starting as a Reseller

Chapter 40: There is no way Chen Feng could possess an immortal treasure!

“Auntie!” Jiang Chen also hurried to Jiang Hong’s side to pay his respects.

To Jiang Chen, his aunt was the greatest pillar of support for their clan. As long as she was around, few in the State of Yue would dare to touch the Jiang family. He knew that in the future, he would have to rely on this aunt who held an official position in the Imperial City.

“There is a lot going on in the Imperial City; I only managed to find time to return today. Speak, what is the matter that made you call me back in such a hurry?” Jiang Hong said with a smile, patting Jiang Chen’s head.

Jiang Yao-tian had not specified the matter in his letter to Jiang Hong, which was done for the sake of secrecy.

Jiang Yao-tian spoke in a heavy voice, “We have discovered that someone is suspected of possessing an Immortal Treasure!”

As soon as these words were uttered, the smile vanished from Jiang Hong’s face, replaced instantly by a look of gravity.

“Big Brother, tell me the details.”

With a flash, Jiang Hong sat down beside Jiang Yao-tian. Her speed was so immense that the Xiantian martial artists present in the hall failed to see her movement at all.

The members of the Jiang family could not help but feel a surge of pride. As long as they had a Transformation Realm expert like Jiang Hong, the Jiang family could continue to prosper indefinitely.

Jiang Yao-tian then proceeded to recount the matter regarding Chen Feng.

After listening to Jiang Yao-tian’s description, Jiang Hong did not speak immediately. Instead, she tapped her fingers lightly on the table, lost in thought. Everyone remained silent, waiting for her to speak.

“Big Brother, your investigation into Chen Feng’s background was not detailed enough,” Jiang Hong finally said.

Jiang Yao-tian said helplessly, “This is the limit of what I could investigate. This person established the Xingfeng Sect in the Hengduan Mountains only three months ago, primarily engaging in mining trade. As for his information prior to that, it is completely untraceable.”

Jiang Hong nodded slightly. “I will send a letter to the Imperial City and have the people there help investigate.”

The Jiang family’s intelligence capabilities were lacking, so it was normal that they couldn't investigate thoroughly, but the Imperial Family's intelligence network was top-tier in the entire State of Yue. There were imperial spies in almost every corner of the country; investigating a man named Chen Feng in the Hengduan Mountains would be no difficult task.

Jiang Yao-tian then turned to ask, “Hong-mei, you hold an official position in the Imperial City and your experience is far beyond ours. Do you think that Chen Feng truly possesses an Immortal Treasure?”

Jiang Hong let out a scoff. “Big Brother, that Chen Feng definitely does not have an Immortal Treasure.”

This statement shocked everyone; they had not expected Jiang Hong to give such a decisive answer.

Jiang Hong continued, “Although I have never seen an Immortal, I have learned certain things regarding them. An Immortal Treasure must be activated by Spiritual Qi. Without Spiritual Qi, even if an Immortal Treasure falls into the hands of mortals or martial artists, it is utterly useless. And Spiritual Qi can only be condensed by cultivators in the Qi Refining stage. In the entire State of Yue, the only Qi Refining cultivator I know of is the previous generation's Ancestor of Yue. That person has been in seclusion for an unknown number of years.”

Jiang Yao-tian and the others all showed expressions of shock; this was the first time they had heard of the realms of cultivators.

“In that case, Chen Feng truly does not have an Immortal Treasure,” Jiang Yao-tian said, sounding somewhat disappointed.

The rest of the Jiang family showed similar expressions of disappointment. They had mobilized the entire clan and even summoned Jiang Hong just for the hope of obtaining an Immortal Treasure to make the Jiang family rise. Now that they knew it was impossible for Chen Feng to have one, they were naturally disheartened.

An Immortal Treasure required a cultivator to activate it, and in the entire State of Yue, there was likely only the Ancestor Jiang Hong mentioned. That meant Chen Feng must have used other means to slay Jiang Xiao and He Sandao.

Jiang Hong continued, “Even though Chen Feng does not have an Immortal Treasure, he must have other secrets. Since I am already here, I will take the opportunity to deal with him and see what secrets he holds.”

Jiang Chen spoke up at this moment, “Auntie, I have already gathered the manpower. We can move at any time!”

Jiang Chen was already impatient to charge into the Xingfeng Sect and make Chen Feng kneel before him in plea for mercy. He had not forgotten Chen Feng's attitude from a few days ago, which had left him feeling extremely displeased.

Jiang Hong shook her head and said, “No rush. I will send a secret letter shortly. We will act once the news comes back from the Imperial City.”

Jiang Hong was very cautious. Although it was unlikely that Chen Feng possessed an Immortal Treasure, there was no guarantee he didn't have some sort of background; she needed to investigate thoroughly.

Jiang Chen immediately bowed. “I shall follow your command, Auntie.”

Although Jiang Chen wanted to attack the Xingfeng Sect immediately, since his aunt had spoken, he could only wait and let Chen Feng live a little longer.

Jiang Yao-tian suddenly asked, “Hong-mei, is there any hope for our Jiang family to enter the Imperial City?”

Although Liuyang Town was the largest among the surrounding towns, it was far inferior to the Imperial City. Furthermore, Liuyang Town was located near several major mountain ranges on the border of the State of Yue; if war broke out, the Jiang family's situation would become precarious.

Jiang Hong said, “Big Brother, it is fine for the Jiang family to stay in Liuyang Town. Even if we entered the Imperial City, we would only be a minor family. I am merely a Commander of the Forbidden Martial Guard; I am not enough to protect the Jiang family's foothold in the Imperial City!”

Jiang Yao-tian was somewhat unwilling. “Hong-mei, you are already a Transformation Realm expert. Can you not protect our Jiang family?”

Their family had stayed in this small place for hundreds of years. No one knew that the Jiang family had once been a great clan in the State of Jiang, but after the State of Jiang was destroyed by the State of Yue, the Jiang family had declined. Revitalizing the clan had always been Jiang Yao-tian's desire.

Jiang Hong gave a bitter smile. “Big Brother, although the Transformation Realm is the limit for mortals, there are different levels within the Transformation Realm. In the entire Imperial City, I know of at least a dozen Transformation Realm experts. I am nothing in the Imperial City; once our Jiang family moves in, we will surely be suppressed by other factions.”

Hearing this, Jiang Yao-tian sighed, “How wonderful it would be if our Jiang family could produce a cultivator!”

Hearing this, Jiang Hong smiled self-mockingly. A cultivator—that was something even she could only dream of. Even the Imperial Family of Yue only had one Qi Refining cultivator in the previous generation; no other members of the royal family possessed the aptitude for cultivation. One could imagine how difficult the path of cultivation was.

“I will go send the secret letter first. The Imperial City should reply by tomorrow, and we will act then.”

Jiang Hong then left the main hall. She did not want to delay for too long; she had taken leave just to return to the family this time.

In the State of Yue, letters were delivered using a special type of feather-beast bird. These birds could travel a thousand miles in a day, and many large powers raised them as tools for transmitting information. The Imperial City was about six hundred miles away from Liuyang Town; only these birds could deliver a letter within a single day.

Inside Jack's office, Chen Feng's figure appeared. After teaching Wang Hu and the others how to use firearms, he had returned to the modern world.

Chen Feng opened the door to the room, where two gang members were guarding the entrance. Seeing Chen Feng appear, both subordinates showed expressions of utmost respect.

“Lord Deity!”

Chen Feng ignored their form of address and asked, “Is Jack back?”

Chen Feng did not want to stay in the Eagle Nation for too long. The scroll needed to be delivered to Xingfeng Mining as soon as possible; otherwise, production would remain halted, and he wouldn't be able to meet the twenty-thousand-ton quota.

“The boss returned long ago, but since you were in your room, he didn't dare disturb you. He told us to guard the door. I will notify him immediately.”

One of the subordinates immediately took out a phone to make the notification.
