Demolished householder from the nineties

Chapter 8: Unexpected Verification

After the two parted ways at the restaurant, An Songyu went to the front desk to have someone else take over her shift so she could eat.

Following that, she remained busy until she got off work at 10:00 PM, only then having barely managed to get a rough handle on the work she was responsible for.

As for the finer details, she would have to get them all sorted out within the next two or three days.

It was only because it was a slow day that she managed; otherwise, given her current situation, An Songyu couldn't even guarantee that she could complete her work smoothly.

Stepping out of the hotel, the streetlights outside cast a dim, yellowish glow.

An Songyu looked up, feeling a bit disoriented, and stared for a long while.

"An Songyu, what are you spacing out for?" An Songxiang propped her bicycle against the side of the road and trotted over to nudge her older sister.

She had timed her arrival perfectly to pick her up.

Yet, even though she clearly saw her sister come out, she was standing at the hotel entrance, looking up at who knows where.

She hadn't even heard her soft call!

If it weren't for the imposing grandeur of the Xianquan Hotel, An Songxiang would have shouted at her long ago!

An Songyu was jolted back to reality by the nudge and gave an embarrassed smile.

Seeing An Songxiang’s rather resentful expression, she found it exceptionally cute because of her youthful, pretty face.

So, she took the initiative to take her sister’s hand and said with a touch of bravado

"Let's go, we're going home right now!"

An Songxiang felt even more helpless!

Could her sister’s brain have been scrambled by that news about the demolition?

Is that why her behavior today was so abnormal?

Though she thought this, An Songxiang didn't slow her pace at all.

The sisters took turns riding the bike, and they arrived home even faster than they had at noon.

At the An residence, as soon as An Songyu walked through the door, she saw that almost everyone was in the living room.

She was initially a bit surprised.

But thinking of the bombshell she had dropped on her family at noon, her eyes lit up.

Without even putting her canvas bag in her room, she went to pull out a chair to sit down.

Meanwhile, An Songyue, who had just returned from evening self-study, happened to walk out after washing up. She greeted the family briefly and then drifted back to her room like a wandering soul.

There were only a few months left until the college entrance exam.

Tonight, having endured the impact of two full test papers, she simply didn't have a shred of curiosity left to spare.

The family understood the situation of a college entrance exam candidate.

Coincidentally, the topic they were about to discuss wasn't suitable for others to hear.

So, the family simply signaled to each other and moved into the sisters' small room.

Seeing that it was indeed late, An Jianping gave a rough account of what he had seen in the village today before lowering his voice

"Although we can't confirm the authenticity of the news yet, Jianmin and I took a lap around the new district, and we feel the possibility of another logistics center being built there is very high."

"The factories in the new district are mostly built, but most of the office buildings, fences, and such haven't been finished yet."

"However... when we went today, we took a look, and almost every factory was busy making preparations."

"Some factories even had quite a few people moving about inside."

"The vehicles going in and out were basically all cargo trucks."

"The newly built two-lane road felt exceptionally spacious when we went in, but as soon as a cargo truck came by, the road seemed much narrower."

And this was while these factories hadn't even officially started production yet.

If they really started production...

Thinking of this, the family couldn't help but look at each other.

"Tomorrow, except for Xiaoyu, we are all off, so we can inquire from different sides," An Songlin said, pursing his lips before continuing

"I'll take Xuanying over there for a walk, too."

"You shouldn't just go around asking questions!" An Jianping shook his head, directly rejecting his son's proposal

"I'll go find Old Lu to sound him out!"

"Things like this aren't easy to find out about right now anyway."

"What's more..."

Speaking of this, An Jianping’s mood was somewhat complex.

When he first heard the news his daughter brought, he was naturally incredibly excited.

He had even been single-mindedly focused on verifying the truth of the news.

But after a calm afternoon, An Jianping felt a bit lost.

Using this news to save up some family wealth early was naturally a good thing.

But strictly speaking, it wasn't exactly righteous or something worth advocating.

However, seeing the whole family waiting expectantly for him to continue, An Jianping managed to suppress the complex thoughts in his heart

"Whatever is done leaves a trace!"

"If the demolition news is fake, then so be it, but if it's true, we have a lot to do."

"It's better to be more low-key when acquiring wealth through such means."

An Jianping’s words left the rest of the family slightly stunned.

Before they could ponder it deeply, An Jianping spoke again

"Oldest, you... and Xiaoxuan, never mind, just do as you said!"

"As for Ayu, Axiang, and Lizhu, you should carry on as usual—go to work when you're supposed to, and take your time off when you're supposed to!"

"Also, I see the factories in the new district will be put into use very soon."

"I've already agreed with your uncle; he will continue to keep an eye on the situation in the new district."

"Once most of the factories in the new district start operating, we'll likely be able to tell if a logistics distribution center is needed."

The people named looked at each other and nodded honestly.

The next day, An Songlin was off, and as he said, he first took his fiancée, Xuanying, to the new district.

However, his main purpose was to take his fiancée back to his hometown.

He even took the opportunity to have a good experience at a nice farmhouse restaurant in the village.

An Songyu, meanwhile, went to work and lived her life honestly along with the others.

It wasn't until several days had passed, and it was An Songyu’s turn for a day off, that the family’s investigation finally yielded results.

When the family gathered together again, compared to the previous times, the excitement in their hearts had only increased, not decreased.

An Jianping looked at his second daughter with gratification before confirming to the group

"I confirmed with Old Lu that recently, a Hong Kong businessman has indeed been staying on the top floor of the hotel."

"I heard that man’s business in Hong Kong is massive."

"After entering the mainland, he hasn't just been developing in one city."

"He came to Shuncheng this time because the factory area in Nancheng is no longer enough."

"It just so happens that our Shuncheng isn't too far from Nancheng, which makes it convenient for him to establish a new factory area."

"In the past year, he has actually been here quite a few times."

"He only stayed at your hotel for half a month recently because the new factory is almost ready to be put into use."

"Oh, right, I heard that not only did he build a factory in the new district, but he also built some kind of design building?"

"It's one of the tallest buildings in the new district."
