Beast Taming from Zero

Chapter 41: Becoming a Strong Woman?

“I already told Lyu Siya!” Fang Sisi immediately added.

Qiao Sang looked at her with a skeptical gaze.

“...And my parents, too.”

“It’s fine that you told them; it wasn't something that needed to be kept secret anyway,” Qiao Sang said.

“Haha, I told you! This kind of thing should be known by everyone. If Lyu Siya hadn't stopped me, saying she wanted to wait until you were back at school to ask if you wanted to spread the word, I would have posted it in the class group long ago,” Fang Sisi laughed, relaxing.

Qiao Sang: “...”

Thanks, Lyu Siya!

Lyu Siya was different from Fang Sisi; she wasn't a slacker. Her grades were consistently in the top 15 of the class. The reason she got along so well with Fang Sisi was that they shared a common interest—Coordinators.

A Coordinator is a profession that utilizes a pet's skills to showcase one's own charm.

Unlike Beast Tamers, whose goal is to participate in Alliance combat competitions, Coordinators focus more on the charm of the pet and the splendor of its skills rather than actual combat.

Consequently, most Coordinators find it difficult to pass the Beast Tamer level assessments to become higher-level Beast Tamers.

For them, aesthetics are king.

Even the pets they wish to contract are chosen based on how good they look.

“Why are you wearing such an ugly bracelet on Fire-Fang Dog?” Lyu Siya’s attention had been fixed on the Fire-Fang Dog the whole time.

Seeing Qiao Sang contract a Fire-Fang Dog was both surprising and unsurprising to her.

It was surprising that Qiao Sang actually dared to contract a volatile fire-type pet, but unsurprising given her personality.

After all, Fire-Fang Dogs were cute, and their flame-like fur was very eye-catching. Their evolved form, Blazing Fire Dog, was incredibly cool.

Looking at the Fire-Fang Dog, Lyu Siya felt the same way as Fang Sisi—she wanted to pet it, but didn't dare.

Before Qiao Sang could answer, the Fire-Fang Dog barked first.

“Ya!”

Its training equipment was not ugly at all!

Lyu Siya leaned back slightly and asked, “Are you really okay with contracting a Fire-Fang Dog? Look at it, it looks so fierce.”

Fang Sisi chimed in, “But Fire-Fang Dogs are so beautiful! Look at those eyes and that fur. Don't you want to give it a rub?”

“I do!” Lyu Siya’s eyes lit up.

Both girls looked at Qiao Sang with longing in their eyes.

Qiao Sang looked at the Fire-Fang Dog, questioning it with her eyes.

The Fire-Fang Dog understood its Tamer's meaning.

“Ya.”

It turned toward Fang Sisi and let out a bark, then lowered its head.

Since the gesture of lowering its head had been made, Fang Sisi naturally knew the dog was consenting to being petted. She immediately reached out excitedly.

“Holy crap, it feels so good!”

Lyu Siya watched with envy. Just as she reached out to try for herself, the Fire-Fang Dog suddenly turned its head away with an air of arrogance, refusing her.

“Ya.”

It hadn't forgotten that this person had just called its training equipment ugly and said it was fierce.

Lyu Siya awkwardly withdrew her hand and changed the subject as if nothing had happened. “Sisi and I were just chatting about what kind of pet would be good to contract after our brain domain awakens tomorrow. I’m thinking of contracting a Desert-Tail Fox. Sisi hasn't decided yet. Qiao Sang, do you have any suggestions?”

Before Qiao Sang could suggest anything, Fang Sisi spoke up: “I've decided! A Fire-Fang Dog would be great!”

Lyu Siya: “...”

Qiao Sang: “...”

The Fire-Fang Dog puffed out its chest; this person had good taste.

Qiao Sang said, “Don't be impulsive. Think about it carefully.”

Fang Sisi said seriously, “I'm not being impulsive! Look at your Fire-Fang Dog—it's so well-behaved and cute, and most importantly, it feels great! I want one too!”

The Fire-Fang Dog puffed its chest out even further.

Qiao Sang: “...”

What could she say? That the Fire-Fang Dog wasn't well-behaved, wasn't cute, or didn't feel good?

The dog would be furious with her.

Besides, what Fang Sisi said was the truth, it's just...

As soon as Qiao Sang thought about the other Fire-Fang Dogs she had seen at the Hanggang Pet Base, she felt that once Fang Sisi went there and saw them, she would change her mind...

...

After finishing the hotpot and exchanging a few words wishing each other success for tomorrow's awakening, Qiao Sang bid farewell to Fang Sisi and Lyu Siya.

Tomorrow was the day the school organized the unified stimulation of students' brain domains. As someone who had undergone spontaneous awakening, Qiao Sang naturally didn't need to go along.

It wasn't until she got home and placed the Fire-Fang Dog on the floor that Qiao Sang realized she had been carrying it the entire way back and forth!

One must remember that the Fire-Fang Dog was wearing a 15kg weighted ring on its right limb!

Back when it wore a 10kg ring, she would feel a bit heavy after carrying it for a few minutes. Now, with a 15kg ring, the trip back and forth had taken at least half an hour, yet she hadn't felt a thing!

Had her strength suddenly increased?

That was impossible; she hadn't exercised lately. Even when she let the dog out right after the high school entrance exams, she hadn't felt any different from before.

Could she have turned into a powerhouse in just a few hours?

Qiao Sang went to the living room and, under the bewildered expression of the Fat House Pigeon, reached out to hug it.

She exerted a little force, but couldn't lift it.

She tried harder, but still couldn't lift it.

Finally, Qiao Sang used every ounce of strength she had until her face turned red, yet the Fat House Pigeon remained unmoved.

Qiao Sang reached a conclusion.

It seemed she hadn't suddenly become a powerhouse, but her strength had indeed increased significantly.

Under the bewildered gaze of the Fat House Pigeon, Qiao Sang returned to her room.

Qiao Sang was also somewhat dazed, unable to figure out why her strength had suddenly increased. It wasn't until she opened her Beast Codex as usual before bed that she became even more stunned.

“Holy crap!”

A profanity suddenly rang out in the quiet room.

Qiao Sang was shocked.

Because the Beast Codex had actually turned into two pages!

In addition to the page where she had already contracted the Fire-Fang Dog, there was an extra blank page for a contract space!

Qiao Sang's mind stalled for a moment. She exited the Beast Codex and immediately recalled the sleeping Fire-Fang Dog from beside her.

The next second.

A gray star formation lit up on the bed, and the Fire-Fang Dog appeared in the center of the array, lying on its side with drool running from its mouth.

Gray...

Two pages...

Had her Beast Codex awakened again?!

Qiao Sang's heart could not calm down for a long time. Was she perhaps a legendary genius!

The development of the brain domain had been a subject of research from ancient times to the present. Aside from innate meditation, there was nothing else that could safely promote brain domain development.

Meditation was a course in Beast Taming High School.

Without an awakened brain domain, meditation was useless regardless of how one practiced. Most students used magnetic wave stimulation to awaken their brain domains and needed a period of rest before they could begin meditating.

Therefore, meditation usually started during high school; Qiao Sang had never actually meditated.

Yet, her brain domain had tangibly strengthened.

Even though the detection report proved the maximum fluctuation of her brain domain was only 9%, she had directly developed it to 10%.

Under normal circumstances, this was basically impossible.

Looking at the drooling Fire-Fang Dog, Qiao Sang suddenly understood.

As expected, being a "transmigrator" was a standard feature for geniuses.

However, even though the Beast Codex had awakened again, Qiao Sang had no intention of contracting a new pet for the time being.

The Fire-Fang Dog hadn't been with her for long. This summer, she planned to focus on nurturing it, as well as making money.

After all, she currently didn't even have the ability to give the Fire-Fang Dog a bath; if she contracted a second one, she might not be able to afford to raise it.

But...

An idea formed in Qiao Sang's mind.

A second pet could be raised starting from an egg.

That way, by the time it hatched, the Fire-Fang Dog would have grown, and she might have earned enough money by then.

Most importantly.

If the second pet saw her first thing upon being born, would she still have to worry about it being disobedient?
