Chapter 50: Release Remarks

I want to have a little chat.

First, let me introduce myself: I am a chronic procrastinator and a severe case of "laziness cancer."

The reason I started writing this was that I recently fell in love with beast-taming novels. I wanted to find a beast-taming novel written for a female audience, but there were so few, and most of them had very outdated settings. So, I decided to just write one myself.

I am someone who has watched Pokémon from the Kanto region all the way to the Kalos region, so writing a general overview of beast-taming shouldn't be a problem...

Even though I know the female-oriented market is smaller and won't get many views, I still decided to write it for that audience with a female protagonist.

After all, I am a girl...

As a newcomer, I posted after writing only two chapters. I had no backlog whatsoever; it was purely a whim. Then, when I hit over 10,000 words, I got signed. I was quite happy at the time...

Later, I realized that whether I was signed or not didn't make much of a difference in terms of readership. Since I was writing for a female audience, I had already prepared myself for that, so I let myself go and settled into a schedule of one update every two days...

After letting myself go like that for half a month, a trial promotion came along. An editor reached out to me and only asked that I not miss any updates during the trial promotion. Since it was my first time getting a promotion, of course I agreed.

Although at first, I didn't understand why my debut on Qidian would result in a trial promotion on QQ Reading...

But my first monthly ticket and my first long comment both came from readers on QQ Reading. I was very excited, and in a moment of impulse, I promised that I wouldn't miss updates or abandon the book...

Thinking back, I feel that for someone as lazy as me, occasionally missing an update is still a possibility...

As a "lazy cancer" patient, I have no backlog. I procrastinate every single day until the last minute before I start typing, and then I type for a bit, play on my phone for a bit, eat something, and then type again...

Later, I passed a recommendation PK, and with the next round of recommendations, I still couldn't miss updates.

But by then, I had readers leaving comments and giving votes and tips. Feeling like people were actually reading my book made me a bit more enthusiastic about writing, so during that period, I could often finish my updates by around 6:00 PM.

In truth, I thought about taking a day off many times...

Because I feel my most comfortable state is updating once every two days...

But because people were voting and commenting every day, I persevered.

In the beginning, I would excitedly reply to every comment, but I don't anymore, for fear of being pressured to update faster...

Although the number of readers in the female-oriented section isn't huge, for me, going from being a "single-player" writer to having people leaving footprints every day is already quite an achievement.

Regarding the official launch (VIP release), the editor reached out to me a couple of days ago and said it would be on May 23rd...

I feel it's too fast. I have no backlog, and launching usually requires a massive burst of updates...

I procrastinated until the 22nd, and I still haven't started saving up chapters.

But don't panic; I've decided to drink coffee tonight, grind out some words, and update more tomorrow...

Also...

New authors usually write two chapters a day during their launch period mostly because of the attendance bonus.

However, because I missed updates five times between being signed and the launch—specifically during that period when I was updating every two days before the recommendations—even if I write two chapters a day after the launch, I won't qualify for the attendance bonus.

I only found this out later...

While I'm sad about it, I'm also a little happy, as it feels like I've found an excuse not to update twice a day every day...

I know the readership will drop sharply after the launch, but it's okay, I won't abandon the book!

If the results are good, I will work hard to save up chapters and do massive updates.

If the results are bad, I will still maintain a stable update schedule and won't abandon the book. Even if I update infrequently, it is the sincere effort of a "lazy cancer" patient!

I really want to write out the names of the readers who have been present every single day to thank them, but it doesn't seem appropriate to put them in the launch announcement. I'll thank everyone properly next time...

Here, I'll answer a question you might be concerned about: whether there will be a male lead.

When I read romance, I like the "intense, tragic love" trope...

If I write it, I'm afraid I won't be able to resist weaving a melodramatic, tragic love story for them, which wouldn't fit the tone of this book. Therefore, I probably won't write a male lead into the story.
