Chapter 10: The Fried Food Shop Owner Kills and Conceals a Body
In the red BMW.
The mouse couple sat in the passenger seat, sniffing hard at the aroma of the fried chicken wings.
"Where did you see the old geezer frying his wife?" Jiang Yuan asked with a serious expression.
Mrs. Mouse turned her head to her and said, "Human, we saw it in the old geezer's shop that day. He chopped his wife into several pieces."
Mr. Mouse chimed in, "That's right, that's right! His wife's head is still frozen in the freezer right now!"
"And that old geezer usually yells and tries to kill us mice whenever he sees us, but that day, for the first time ever, he didn't chase us away. He even fed us his wife's meat," Mrs. Mouse added.
Mr. Mouse said excitedly, "We didn't dare to eat it! Who knows if the old geezer poisoned it!"
This Mr. Mouse was indeed very cautious.
Jiang Yuan asked again, "Then do you know why he treated his wife like that?"
Mrs. Mouse recalled, "It seems the old geezer wanted to give money to his younger brother's son to buy a house, but his wife didn't agree. The two of them started arguing, and since the old geezer happened to be holding a knife, he just swung it at his wife. The blood even splattered on me!"
"That's outrageous! I would never treat my wife like that!" Mr. Mouse took the opportunity to show his loyalty. "When my wife says one, I never say two! Heaven and earth are vast, but the wife is the greatest!"
"You old rascal, you're making me blush!" Mrs. Mouse punched Mr. Mouse.
Jiang Yuan: "..."
Living long enough, one can even see mice showing off their affection.
She thought for a moment and asked, "By the way, you said he put his wife in a deep fryer. How did he handle it after frying?"
Mrs. Mouse: "He sold it!"
Mr. Mouse: "Yeah, for all we know, you might have his wife in there."
Jiang Yuan: "..."
Her gaze fell on the bag of fried food, her brows furrowed tightly. "Then you guys better not eat it. I'll go somewhere else and buy something else."
The mouse couple agreed.
Jiang Yuan bought other food as a reward for the information provided by the mouse couple, then drove toward Happy Homes.
She called Jiang Die in advance and asked her to meet at the entrance of the residential complex.
Jiang Yuan parked the car in front of Jiang Die and got out, carrying the things she had bought for Zhanzhan and Momo.
"Yuanyuan, why did you buy so much?" Jiang Die looked at her with a helpless expression. "Don't waste your money."
"This isn't a waste," Jiang Yuan smiled. "Sis, you take these up. I still have things to attend to, I'll come back another day to hang out with you guys."
Jiang Die took the bags she handed over and gently urged, "Don't buy so much stuff next time you come over. Keep the money for yourself."
"It's fine, we'll spend it together." Jiang Yuan waved at her. "Hurry up and go up."
"I'll watch you leave," Jiang Die instructed. "Drive carefully, stay safe."
Jiang Yuan nodded. "Got it, I'm leaving, Sis."
As the car drove away, she saw Jiang Die still standing in the same spot through the rearview mirror, and self-reproach and guilt surged in her heart.
She gripped the steering wheel tightly, thinking silently that she must treat Jiang Die well.
Half an hour later, the red BMW stopped in front of the police station near Old Wang's Fried Food Shop.
Jiang Yuan walked in, carrying the bag of fried food.
It was lunchtime, and there was only one duty officer in the reception area, a young boy.
He looked at Jiang Yuan and asked, "Can I help you?"
Jiang Yuan handed over the bag of fried food, her expression solemn. "Hello, I want to report a crime."
**
"Ms. Jiang, please come with me." The duty officer led Jiang Yuan to an interrogation room.
Just as Jiang Yuan sat down, two police officers entered. One of them had an upright posture, an aura of integrity, and striking features. He had a buzz cut, deep and sharp facial contours, and eyes as bright and piercing as black crystals.
"Ms. Jiang," the duty officer introduced, "this is the captain of our criminal investigation team. He has a few questions for you."
Jiang Yuan nodded. "Okay."
Si Heng sat down opposite her, his thin lips moving as he said slowly, "Ms. Jiang, you say the owner of Old Wang's Fried Food Shop killed someone and hid the body?"
Jiang Yuan: "Yes."
Si Heng: "How did you discover it?"
Jiang Yuan had already prepared her story on the way. "I borrowed the owner's restroom while buying food today and discovered it by accident."
As she spoke, Si Heng's gaze remained on her, focused and sharp.
Jiang Yuan pursed her lips slightly and continued, "His freezer door was stuck on something, and I thought I'd help him close it tight, but I didn't expect to see a human head."
"Was there only one head in the freezer?" Si Heng asked.
Jiang Yuan frowned. "I don't know. I didn't dare to look closely, and I suspect the fried meat he sells is not right."
Si Heng looked at the bag beside her.
"You can take it for testing. If the ingredients of this meat are wrong, then it's possible..." Jiang Yuan didn't finish her sentence.
Si Heng asked in a calm voice, "Are you suspecting that the fried meat he sells contains human flesh?"
Jiang Yuan nodded. "Yes."
Si Heng was silent for a moment, then said slowly, "Understood."
The officer taking notes printed them out and handed them to Jiang Yuan.
Si Heng: "Check it and sign."
Jiang Yuan scanned the contents of the statement. Just as she picked up the pen to sign, the man suddenly spoke.
"Ms. Jiang, filing a false police report is punishable. Think carefully before you sign."
Jiang Yuan lifted her eyes to look at him and signed her name without hesitation.
It was 1:30 PM when she left the police station. The snow had stopped, but the sky was still gray.
Jiang Yuan returned to the food street, parking her car ten meters away from Old Wang's Fried Food Shop.
It was the second day of the New Year's holiday, and the food street was very lively. Surprisingly, there were several people queuing in front of Old Wang's Fried Food Shop.
Jiang Yuan watched this scene, her heart feeling unsettled.
If these people found out later that the meat they ate wasn't ordinary meat, how scared would they be?
Jiang Yuan thought for a moment, then decisively pushed the car door open and got out.
She stood at the back of the line at Old Wang's Fried Food Shop.
When Old Wang saw Jiang Yuan in line, he greeted her with a smile: "Beauty, you're back to buy more! How is it? Is my fried meat delicious?"
"Yeah, the taste is good," Jiang Yuan replied coldly.
Soon it was her turn to order.
Jiang Yuan said, "Boss, how much meat do you have left here? I want it all."
Old Wang's eyes lit up, and he said in surprise, "Beauty, are you kidding me? You want it all?"
"Yes," Jiang Yuan said. "I want however much you have."
Confirming she wasn't joking, Old Wang was ecstatic. "There's plenty! Beauty, pay a deposit of three thousand yuan first, and we'll settle the balance when it's ready."
"Sure." Jiang Yuan paid the deposit quickly.
After receiving the money, Old Wang immediately said to the people queuing behind, "Sorry everyone, we're sold out for today."
Jiang Yuan heard the people behind her start to complain, and some even blamed her.
"What's the deal? Is having money so great?"
"That's ridiculous. Buying so much meat, you won't be able to finish it even if you eat until your next life, right?"
Jiang Yuan listened quietly, saying nothing.
Old Wang smiled at the complaining customers: "Sigh, can't help it. My fried meat is just too popular. Please come earlier next time."
After saying that, he looked at Jiang Yuan again. "Beauty, do you want to wait here, or come back later to pick it up?"
