Chapter 56: Laughing Until One's Fangs Fall Off

Hearing the kitten's fierce meowing, Xixi tilted her small head up to look at Jiang Yuan, saying aggrievedly, "Sister, King Kong is being mean to me again! He must hate me!"

"Let me talk to him." Jiang Yuan crouched beside Xixi, lowering her head slightly to peer toward the kitten under the bed.

In the dim light, the kitten's eyes shimmered with a faint, eerie glow.

Jiang Yuan spoke tentatively, "Hello, King Kong. I am Jiang Yuan."

As soon as she finished speaking, the kitten immediately meowed irritably, "Don't call me! Don't call me! You annoying two-legged beasts!"

The kitten's reaction was a bit intense. Jiang Yuan frowned slightly, feeling puzzled. "King Kong, why do you think two-legged beasts are annoying?"

Xixi blinked her eyes, her chubby little face full of confusion and curiosity.

What was a two-legged beast?

It was an adorable Golden British Shorthair.

"Sister, should we go out first?" Xixi trembled, her small body shaking, afraid of being bitten by the kitten.

She didn't know why King Kong had become so mean; he was clearly such a clingy little kitty when they first arrived at the house.

But after sleeping through the second day, the sky had fallen!

Jiang Yuan watched the kitten, a hint of a smile spreading in her eyes. "Do you perhaps dislike that name?"

"Who would like such an ugly name!" After the kitten finished its rant, it suddenly froze. The anger vanished from its round eyes, replaced only by confusion as it realized something.

"Huh? You, two-legged beast, can understand me?"

"Yes, I can understand you," Jiang Yuan said softly. "Can you tell me why you suddenly stopped interacting with Xixi and why you are being mean to her?"

"I actually liked the two-legged cub very much!" The kitten explained, even feeling wronged as it went on. "But she broke my heart by giving me such an ugly name! If other cats found out I was named after a monkey, they'd laugh their fangs off!"

"I am the most beautiful little sister in our whole litter!" Calling her King Kong was truly too much!

Jiang Yuan knew it was impolite, but she couldn't help but burst out laughing, "Pfft—"

Xixi's chubby face was full of confusion. "Sister, what are you laughing at?"

"Look, look!" The kitten was both aggrieved and angry. "Even you are laughing at me! Aaaah, I'm going to bite you!"

It bared its teeth and charged toward Jiang Yuan on its somewhat clumsy little short legs, but before it could land a bite, it was scooped up.

Jiang Yuan held it in her hands and coaxed it with a smile, "Be a good kitty, don't be angry. I came here specifically to solve your problem."

Up close, the kitten's nose twitched as it smelled the pleasant scent on her. Its bristling fur instantly smoothed down, and it stopped being fierce.

It asked aggrievedly, "How?"

"If you don't like the name King Kong, then we'll change it." It was such a simple matter.

Hearing this, Xixi asked curiously in her soft, milky voice, "Does King Kong not like this name? Why? It sounds so pretty!"

The kitten immediately retorted, "It's not pretty! If you think it's pretty, use it yourself!"

Jiang Yuan couldn't suppress the upward curve of her lips. She said amusedly, "Xixi, if it were you, would you be willing to use the name King Kong?"

Xixi's eyes widened, and her little head shook like a rattle. "No way! I'm a girl!"

Jiang Yuan said patiently, "But the kitten is also a girl. The reason she is angry and ignoring you is because you chose a boy's name for her."

"Ah... do kittens' names have to be divided into boys and girls too?" Xixi was extremely surprised.

"Yes." Jiang Yuan nodded. "Shall we change her name?"

Xixi obediently agreed, "Okay!"

Jiang Yuan then asked the kitten, "What kind of name would you like?"

"A sweet name!" It was a vain little kitten.

After a brief thought, Jiang Yuan suggested, "Is 'Candy' okay? Candy is very sweet."

"Candy..." The kitten's eyes instantly lit up, and it nodded its little head vigorously. "I like that name! From now on, my name is Candy!"

Jiang Yuan turned to the human cub. "Xixi, the kitten will be called Candy from now on. Is that okay?"

"Is it a name the kitty likes?"

"Yes."

Xixi looked at the kitten and apologized softly, "Candy, I'm sorry. I didn't know you didn't like that name."

Candy was a smart kitten. Knowing that her little owner hadn't meant to bully her, she gave a soft meow. "It's okay."

Xixi turned to Jiang Yuan, waiting for a translation.

Jiang Yuan: "Candy says it's okay."

Xixi breathed a sigh of relief and asked cautiously, "Candy, can I hug you now?"

Candy let out a "meow."

Of course she could.

Jiang Yuan placed the kitten into Xixi's arms.

Candy immediately rubbed her head against her little owner's face.

With Jiang Yuan's help, the human cub and the kitten had made peace.

Seeing Candy nestling obediently in her daughter's arms, Rong Yue was utterly shocked.

She had originally thought her husband was joking, but she hadn't expected it to be true.

Jiang Yuan had only been in the room for a few minutes, yet she had managed to tame the kitten.

"Yuan Yuan, what was the deal with King Kong?" Rong Yue couldn't help but ask.

Tucked in her little owner's arms, Candy's whole body suddenly stiffened.

Xixi turned to look at her mother, her small face wearing a serious expression. "Mom, her name is Candy now, not King Kong. You can't say that anymore!"

Jiang Yuan gave a brief explanation of why the kitten had thrown a tantrum.

Rong Yue looked stunned. "She was actually dissatisfied with her name..."

Jiang Yuan smiled lightly. "Actually, most animals have their own thoughts."

"No wonder they say many animals are spiritual." Rong Yue nodded. "It seems I'll need to pay more attention in the future."

Ten minutes later, as Jiang Yuan prepared to take her leave, Rong Yue warmly insisted that she stay for dinner.

Xixi tugged at her hem, and Candy pawed at her pant leg, acting cute to prevent her from leaving.

Jiang Yuan didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Just as she was about to agree, the ringtone of the phone in her pocket suddenly went off.

The caller ID showed the name "Gu Yiwei." She paused for a moment, almost forgetting who this person was.
