After Understanding the Language of Beasts, the Villainess Is Guaranteed a Heartthrob Script
Chapter 6: He Knew Something Was Wrong With This Woman!
Jiang Yuan’s heart skipped a beat, and her hands trembled slightly as she held the Princess Blue Cat.
She tried to remain calm: "Mr. Zhang, I’m a resident from upstairs."
"Do you know Jiang Jingyi?" Zhang Ye’s tone was no longer gentle, but carried a displeased interrogation.
"Who is Jiang Jingyi?" Jiang Yuan looked confused and stood up calmly. "By the way, which brand of cat litter does your fur baby use?"
"The packaging is over there, Miss Lan can take a look."
Zhang Ye stared at her back, his eyes filled with malice and scrutiny. His hand, hanging at his side, slowly reached toward the utility knife in his pants pocket.
His intuition told him that this beautiful woman was not right.
"Be careful!" the Princess Blue Cat screamed.
As Zhang Ye gripped the sharp utility knife, preparing to lunge at Jiang Yuan, the doorbell suddenly rang.
*Ding-dong—*
Jiang Yuan’s heart hammered against her ribs, and she turned her head slowly.
The man had already tucked the utility knife away.
He stared at Jiang Yuan, revealing a strange smile. The dim light from the balcony shone on his face, adding a touch of eeriness.
Jiang Yuan held her breath: "Mr. Zhang, your doorbell is ringing."
Zhang Ye lunged toward her, smiling sinisterly: "I heard it. Shh."
The doorbell continued to ring. Sensing that he had no intention of opening the door, Jiang Yuan took two steps back. "Mr. Zhang, it’s getting late, I won’t disturb you any further."
She turned around, and suddenly, her shoulder felt heavy.
"Don't leave now that you're here." Zhang Ye pulled out the utility knife and gestured with it in front of her, threatening in a low voice, "This blade doesn't have eyes."
"What do you mean by this, Mr. Zhang?" Jiang Yuan pursed her lips, feeling incredibly tense.
Are those police officers outside?
The Princess Blue Cat was extremely distressed: "Xiangxiang baby, you must find a way to escape."
Jiang Yuan took a deep breath, intending to make a move.
As long as it was the police outside, all she had to do was open the door.
Just as she was thinking this, she suddenly heard Zhang Ye let out a cry of pain: "Ah!"
"The birds are here to help!" The grey magpie, along with several companions, flapped their wings and pecked fiercely at Zhang Ye’s face with their sharp little beaks.
Jiang Yuan’s eyes lit up, and she rushed toward the door, clutching the cat.
"Stop!" Seeing this, Zhang Ye waved his hands wildly to drive the birds away and chased after her, trying to grab Jiang Yuan.
The grey magpie wouldn't give him that chance. "Brothers, charge! Peck the face of this bad short-hair!"
"Where did these damn birds come from? Get lost!" Zhang Ye cursed irritably.
However, the more he cursed, the more fiercely the birds pecked, buying Jiang Yuan time.
She rushed to the door and opened it.
Seeing two police officers standing there with an air of integrity, she let out a sigh of relief, and her violently pounding heart gradually calmed down.
"Are you Miss Jiang?" one of the older officers asked.
Jiang Yuan nodded quickly: "Yes, this man has imprisoned a girl and is abusing her!"
The weak blue cat cried with excitement: "Xiangxiang baby, you're amazing!"
Zhang Ye quickly hid the utility knife.
He hadn't expected Jiang Yuan to call the police, and he was so angry his back molars were almost grinding to dust.
He knew this woman was suspicious!
Seeing the two men in uniform standing at the door, his heart was filled with deep unease.
"Officer, it's a misunderstanding." Zhang Ye walked to the door calmly to explain. "Miss, please don't spout nonsense. I am a law-abiding person with upright character; I could never do such illegal things."
"I am telling the truth." Jiang Yuan’s tone was firm, her clear eyes fixed on him. "You locked that girl in the room and even used a knife to cut off her fingers! And you don't just abuse people, you abuse cats too!"
Zhang Ye lowered his head, hiding the resentment and irritation in his eyes.
Damn it!
Jiang Jingyi actually managed to secretly ask for help!
How on earth did she do it?
But now was not the time to dwell on that. Zhang Ye said urgently: "Officer, I've been wronged! She's slandering me! If I really had someone locked in the room and was abusing her, how would this lady know? This is pure fantasy!"
Jiang Yuan knew he would definitely quibble, so she sneered: "If you don't want people to know, don't do it. You ask how I know? I saw it clearly from downstairs."
Zhang Ye’s face changed drastically.
What shocked him even more was that the bedroom door where Jiang Jingyi was imprisoned actually opened at that moment.
The ones who opened it... were those damn birds that had been pecking him!
What the hell!
Jiang Yuan knew that the police needed a search warrant to enter, so she took advantage of the moment before Zhang Ye could react and rushed inside.
Seeing the shocking scene, Jiang Yuan, as the villainous supporting character, felt her eyes redden.
The two police officers walked to her side, their expressions turning incredibly grave.
Jiang Yuan turned to look at Zhang Ye and asked in a deep voice: "Do you still dare to say this is slander?"
Zhang Ye’s face turned ashen; he opened his mouth but had no words to refute.
The other, younger officer took out a pair of silver handcuffs and said sternly: "You are suspected of illegal imprisonment and abuse of a woman. Please come with us!"
The older officer contacted his colleagues at the station and an ambulance.
Jiang Jingyi was sent to the hospital, while Jiang Yuan went to the police station with the cat to give a statement.
When she came out of the police station, she found the grey magpie and its companions hadn't left.
A flock of birds chirped and flew around Jiang Yuan.
"Yuan-Yuan, were we awesome?"
Jiang Yuan curled her lips and smiled: "Very awesome. You helped me a lot. Thank you, I owe you a big meal. I need to take the Princess to the pet hospital now, do you want to come along?"
The cat in her arms was breathing more and more weakly; she didn't dare to delay.
"Yes, yes, yes!"
Jiang Yuan navigated to the nearest 24-hour pet hospital.
Shaving, ultrasound, blood tests.
After a series of examinations, the doctor said the Princess Blue Cat had a fracture and liver damage, and needed to be hospitalized for treatment.
Jiang Yuan prepaid the fees and went to the side of the dying Princess Blue Cat to comfort it: "Don't be afraid, you won't die. I'll come see you tomorrow."
The kitten let out a weak meow: "You must come!"
"I will," Jiang Yuan promised solemnly.
Leaving the pet hospital, the birds followed her the whole way, eventually flying into her second-hand BMW.
[System 009: Congratulations to Miss Jiang for completing the mission. Reward obtained: Bear Dictionary.]
Jiang Yuan returned to her room and said goodbye to the birds by the window.
She gazed at the quiet, deep sky, her heart unable to calm down for a long time.
The life nurtured by nature is truly magical.
A dog will worry about its owner.
A cat will save its owner.
A bird will summon companions to help her.
Everything seemed to be becoming very interesting.
Jiang Yuan suddenly felt a bit expectant.
What would the next mission be, and what would the reward be...
**
The next day, after breakfast, the first thing Jiang Yuan did was go to the pet hospital to visit the Princess Blue Cat.
Its condition looked a bit better today than it did last night.
Jiang Yuan chatted with it for a few moments, but as she was preparing to leave, she heard a familiar voice coming from the next examination room.
"Baby, I'll take care of the cat's medical expenses, you don't need to worry."
Isn't that that god-forsaken Xie Yuchen?
The next second, a woman's sweet, coquettish voice reached Jiang Yuan's ears.
"Chen, you're so good to me! You're going to make me unable to live without you!"
"Silly, it's only right that I'm good to you." Xie Yuchen’s tone was full of doting.
Trash!
Jiang Yuan sneered in her heart, and the phone in her palm suddenly vibrated.
She glanced at it; it was a WeChat message from Xie Yuchen.
