Before going to sleep, Jiang Yuan sent a WeChat message to Si Heng regarding Lillian's situation.

Upon seeing the reply the next morning, Si Heng suggested playing along: they should make contact with Lillian first and look for an opportunity to gather evidence.

"Stop arguing, talk things through properly," Mother Fu said, her head throbbing from their shouting.

"Mom, my sister called the police and arrested my girlfriend!" Fu Xiaohang was both angry and aggrieved.

Mother Fu frowned and asked, "What's going on?"

"Mom, Xiao Hang's girlfriend is a transsexual..." Fu Xiaoxiao explained the whole story.

Mother Fu looked incredulous.

After hanging up, Jiang Yuan shared the good news with Fu Xiaoxiao.

"That's wonderful!" Fu Xiaoxiao looked at her with a beaming smile, "Yuan Yuan, let's celebrate!"

She opened a bottle of red wine and had the butler bring out some foie gras.

"Reporting crime is everyone's responsibility." Jiang Yuan curled her lips into a smile and raised her wine glass, "Cheers."

Lillian's case was announced city-wide two days before the Spring Festival.

On the day before New Year's Eve, Jiang Yuan took the twins to buy candied haws. On her way home, she happened to run into Fu Xiaohang at the entrance of the residential complex.

He looked dejected, his eyes bloodshot and dark circles under them. When he saw Jiang Yuan, a look of deep apology instantly surfaced on his face.
