Chapter 4

In this world, while the path of the great wizard attracts countless people to pursue it, there are other extraordinary paths, such as the path of the knight.

The path of the knight is divided into three levels: Knight Attendant, Knight, and Great Knight.

The Knight Attendant is the starting stage of the knight's path, referring to ordinary people who have undergone systematic combat training and achieved extraordinary power through the tempering of their physical fitness.

To break through from a Knight Attendant to a true Knight, one must condense a "Seed of Life Energy."

This seed of life is the core of a knight; it can greatly strengthen physical fitness, causing a knight's strength to advance by leaps and bounds.

A knight possessing a seed of life can be described as one against ten, or even one against a hundred on the battlefield—incredibly powerful.

As for the Great Knight, that is a further existence, transcending the mundane, with astonishing power—a true master of the battlefield.

Those three youths were precisely Knight Attendants who had undergone knightly training.

Although they had not yet condensed a seed of life, their physical fitness and combat skills had long since far surpassed those of ordinary people due to long-term combat training.

They could even easily kill young, strong soldiers in the army, let alone these thin, inexperienced youths.

Theoretically, if these youths could unite, they might still have a chance to contend with the three.

But reality was the exact opposite—everyone viewed others as competitors, wary of one another, and naturally, they would not join forces.

Because of this, the three Knight Attendants held an absolute advantage in this assessment.

Dealing with these defenseless youths was like crushing ants to them; they didn't even need to use weapons, as they could easily crush their throats with their bare hands.

Within the beast pen, these three began their "hunt."

They set off separately, prowling through the vast beast enclosure like predators, coldly searching for prey.

Their goal was clear: kill these weak youths, complete the assessment quickly, and use their actions to "speed up" the process.

Meanwhile, the other youths remained immersed in their naive fantasies about the rules of the assessment.

However, they had no idea that the three figures hidden in the darkness had long since marked them as prey.

Deep within the beast enclosure, Lynn was naturally unaware that the world outside had undergone earth-shaking changes.

He still belonged to the group of "naive youths," intending to act according to the rules.

However, there were some differences between him and the other youths.

He was already a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice and possessed a certain degree of self-preservation ability.

"In the 'Elementary Meditation Technique,' a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice can master two zero-ring spells..."

Lynn flipped to the relevant chapter, his eyes falling on the page as he studied it carefully.

These two zero-ring spells seemed simple, but each had its own ingenious use.

The first was called "Breath Concealment," and its function was as the name suggested: to mask all traces of one's presence.

The second was "Daze," which could use mental power to instantly interfere with an ordinary person's consciousness, causing them to become briefly disoriented.

A wizard's power comes from the use of mental power to call upon energy factors between heaven and earth; this is the definition of sorcery.

However, only by reaching a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice can one barely use mental power to mobilize energy factors.

Therefore, theoretically, a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice cannot use sorcery.

But there are exceptions to everything; there are some unique existences in sorcery known as zero-ring spells.

Zero-ring spells are the most basic and weakest category of all sorcery.

They do not require the assistance of energy factors and can be cast relying solely on mental power and some simple props.

Because of this, zero-ring spells are more like "little tricks," often used by beginners as introductory exercises.

Lynn flipped through the "Elementary Meditation Technique," carefully reading the content on zero-ring spells.

"Breath Concealment" was one of them.

It requires the use of specific props, using mental power to "smear" the scent of the props onto oneself, thereby masking one's own aura.

The book gave an example: if one goes out to hunt magical beasts, one can incorporate the scent of the surrounding environment into oneself, thus confusing the beast's sense of smell and allowing one to approach the target without being detected.

"Daze" was even more direct.

It relies entirely on mental power to activate, requiring no props; one only needs to focus their mind to instantly interfere with an ordinary person's consciousness, causing them to become briefly disoriented.

For Lynn, these two zero-ring spells were undoubtedly a timely help.

What he lacked most now was the ability to protect himself, and although these two zero-ring spells were considered "little tricks" in the wizarding world, they were of great help to him at this moment.

With these two zero-ring spells, he would at least have some means of reaction and escape if attacked.

"The place I chose is remote, which is perfect for raising the Earth Rhino Beast while learning these two zero-ring spells..."

Lynn's gaze was firm as he secretly calculated his plan.

If it were any other wizard apprentice, learning zero-ring spells, while relatively simple, would still require a certain amount of energy and time.

But Lynn possessed the talent [Heaven Rewards Diligence], and he was full of confidence in himself, certain that he could fully master these two spells in a short time.

Having determined his direction, Lynn began a cautious, reclusive life.

According to the scarred man, there were ten days in total, and his main task was to raise the Earth Rhino Beast.

Following the knowledge he had learned previously, he collected specific food every day to feed the Earth Rhino Beast, gradually improving its physical fitness and strength.

Besides that, he devoted the rest of his time to studying the "Elementary Meditation Technique," focusing on mastering "Breath Concealment" and "Daze."

Perhaps because he had chosen an extremely remote location, from the moment Lynn left the crowd alone until the tenth day, he had not seen a single soul.

Ten days of careful feeding had caused obvious changes in his Earth Rhino Beast.

The little beast had not only grown a circle fatter, but the scales on its body had become increasingly black and shiny, and the color of its pupils had become richer and deeper.

Lynn looked at his results, his confidence greatly increased, knowing that the strength of this Earth Rhino Beast had been significantly improved.

At the same time, Lynn's own progress was equally gratifying.

Relying on the [Heaven Rewards Diligence] talent and the relatively simple nature of zero-ring spells, he had fully mastered "Breath Concealment" and "Daze" in just ten days.

As the first rays of morning light fell, Lynn put on his slightly worn robe, tightened his collar, picked up the much sturdier Earth Rhino Beast, and headed toward the agreed-upon assembly point.

However, as he walked, Lynn noticed something wrong.

He saw some tattered robe fragments and corpses. His heart tightened; although he had been wary of these "companions," seeing someone actually dead in the beast enclosure made his breathing heavy.

At first, Lynn thought it was just an isolated case, but as he walked further out, he discovered a massive number of "isolated cases," and he knew something was wrong no matter how he looked at it.
