Chapter 24
Returning to the living area once more, the streets were deserted.
Lynn navigated the alleys with practiced ease until he reached a corner.
There, a small house surrounded by lush, blooming flowers stood quietly—the residence of his beautiful teacher, Rosalind.
"Come in, Lynn."
Just as Lynn stood outside the door, about to inquire about the flowers planted in the courtyard, a gentle floral fragrance drifted on the wind, and a soft, warm female voice reached his ears. It was Rosalind.
He pushed open the door and walked along the stone path of the courtyard.
The surrounding flowers swayed gently, releasing their fragrant scents.
Half a year ago, he knew nothing of these plants, but after nearly six months of study, he could now identify more than half of them.
The mystery and profundity of the wizarding world had, without him realizing it, permeated his daily life.
Entering the room, Lynn's gaze immediately locked onto Rosalind, who was sitting in a corner.
At this moment, she was still wearing that elegant wizard's robe, her graceful figure skillfully concealed by the fabric.
Her long golden hair curled naturally, cascading over her shoulders and faintly revealing the smooth, delicate skin of her neck beneath.
Rosalind was sitting at a bar in the room, her slender fingers gently closing a book. With a slight upturn of her lips, she slowly sipped her milk tea.
She lightly extended the tip of her soft tongue to lick her lips, and only after finishing her tea did she turn to look at Lynn.
Her countenance was as gentle as jade, and her voluptuous figure combined with her captivating smile filled the entire room with a sense of intimacy and warmth, making her seem like a kind, approachable elder sister from next door.
Whenever he saw her smile, Lynn's mood would involuntarily become relaxed and joyful.
This was especially true in this world of dark wizards, where eight out of ten wizards looked grotesque or bizarre; even that scarred Wizard Dre could be considered a "choice" for beauty.
By comparison, Lynn felt deeply that being able to study under the water-like gentleness of Rosalind was nothing short of incredible luck.
"Forgive me, Lynn. I have been delayed by some matters over the past six months."
Rosalind parted her red lips slightly, her voice soft and tinged with apology.
Hearing his teacher's apology, Lynn felt even more strongly that she was right.
He knew that if it were any other wizard, they likely wouldn't offer any apology to their apprentices at all.
"It is no matter, Teacher."
Despite the complexity in his heart, Lynn remained respectful on the surface, his tone gentle and devoid of any rudeness.
"Have you read those books I gave you before? And... your current level of strength..."
Rosalind began to ask, but paused mid-sentence in slight surprise. "You have actually already become a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice. It seems I came out at just the right time..."
Lynn had already been a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice when he first entered the Crucible, meaning his starting point was much further ahead than others.
After six months, advancing to a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice was faster than most, but not so abnormal as to be impossible; it fell within the realm of a "minor genius."
"I have finished all the books you gave me, Teacher. I have gained a preliminary understanding and cognition of Nature Wizards..."
Lynn answered truthfully. He did not say much about his current realm, merely nodding.
Perhaps out of self-preservation, he had no intention of exposing his full talent.
After all, this was the wizarding world. Even if his teacher seemed as gentle as water, Lynn knew clearly that he was in a domain of dark wizards filled with undercurrents. Therefore, he maintained constant vigilance and caution.
"Mhm." Rosalind nodded slightly, then conducted a brief check of Lynn's understanding of those books, confirming that he had indeed mastered the knowledge within.
"Not bad. You haven't wasted your time in my absence."
"Mhm..."
Rosalind murmured softly, seemingly lost in thought, as she pointed a slender, white finger.
In the next moment, a vine suddenly grew from the floor, slowly extending toward the corner of the room.
The vine climbed up the wall, reaching somewhere on the second floor before slowly returning.
At this time, a crystal ball glowing with a green light was wrapped within the vine, descending slowly in front of Lynn.
"This is both my apology to you and a small celebration for your breakthrough to Level 2 Wizard Apprentice. Accept it, Lynn."
Rosalind smiled lightly, her features as beautiful as a painting. With a casual wave of her hand, the vine immediately reached out toward Lynn.
Hearing this, Lynn was startled, feeling almost overwhelmed by the favor.
Subconsciously, he reached out with both hands and took the crystal ball.
He had originally thought his teacher's apology was a gift in itself; he hadn't expected such a physical offering.
Although he was not yet clear on the specific function of this crystal ball, he knew that as an item held by a formal wizard, even a small trinket would be precious enough for a Level 2 apprentice like him.
"This is a crystal ball. It can detect mental strength, physical condition, the power of sorcery, and so on. If it were a perfect version, even a formal wizard would feel a sting of heartache over the cost, but the one in your hands is considered a flawed product..."
Rosalind explained to Lynn.
Listening to her explanation, Lynn's heart jolted. Wasn't this function similar to the sorcery testing room?
"Teacher, the function of this crystal ball seems very similar to the sorcery testing room..."
Lynn asked instinctively.
Rosalind gave a light chuckle. "Your understanding is not wrong, but you apprentices are still far from fully understanding the true purpose of the sorcery testing room..."
She paused, then continued, "In comparison, this crystal ball is just right for you. Its power is limited and cannot detect the mental strength or sorcery power of any formal wizard, so it is perfectly suited for your level. Go back and study it; you should gain some insights."
Lynn nodded, his mind gradually settling.
Indeed, if such a thing were truly designed for formal wizards, he, as a Level 2 apprentice, would be unable to use it at all. Being a defective version actually made it more suitable for him; at the very least, it could serve some purpose.
Of course, he would have to figure out how to use it through his own exploration.
Having given Lynn a small gift, Rosalind seemed to feel a sense of satisfaction.
She coughed lightly twice, her expression turning serious as she continued
"Alright, Lynn. Now, let us continue the topic from six months ago."
"Since you already have a certain understanding of Nature Wizards, I won't dwell on the basics. I will summarize briefly."
"We Nature Wizards differ from Element Wizards and Bloodline Wizards during the apprentice stage, but the gap is not large. In fact, one could say that the cultivation methods of Nature Wizards and Element Wizards are even closer; after all, Bloodline Wizards still need to inject various bloodlines to enhance their abilities..."
"You should have read about these contents in the books, so I won't repeat them. Now, I will tell you about the mysteries of what happens to us Nature Wizards after we transition from apprentices to formal wizards..."
