Chapter 17
In the magic potion garden, a week had passed since Lynn became a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice.
Warm sunlight spilled through the greenhouse, and the air was filled with a refreshing fragrance of mixed soil and herbs.
"Lynn, this level of wizard apprenticeship is truly too difficult! It's been two months, and I've only barely managed to meditate on the twenty-first rune letter!"
Remy complained helplessly, clutching a bundle of herbs in his hand.
He set the herbs down, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and looked at Lynn, seemingly seeking a bit of comfort.
Hearing this, a strange flicker passed through Lynn's eyes, but he quickly masked it, putting on an empathetic expression and nodding.
"Yeah, it really isn't easy..."
"This damn meditation method... you can only meditate twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. Meditating any more than that yields no extra effect and just leaves you with a splitting headache! Unless you can buy those mental strength replenishment potions... but those aren't things we can just use at will."
The more Remy spoke, the more agitated he became, his tone tinged with resentment.
Lynn smiled faintly, continuing to act as a silent listener.
However, Remy had no idea that Lynn's mind had long since drifted elsewhere.
Lynn knew clearly that he was a special case.
He was a transmigrator, and not of the "loser" variety, but the "genius" variety!
He was already fully convinced that he was a genius on the path of wizardry. With his continuous efforts, diligent sweat, and a little help from his talent, his future was limitless!
Lynn's cultivation journey might have been related to the devouring of his predecessor's soul, which allowed his mental strength to far exceed that of ordinary people, easily leaving others behind at the starting line.
Therefore, he had entered the Crucible as a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice from the very beginning. Combined with a talent that rewarded diligence, his cultivation progress could be described as lightning-fast.
He had naturally encountered bottlenecks in his meditation method as well.
But he soon discovered that, relying on his talent, as long as he worked hard, he could always achieve a breakthrough.
After every meditation session, Lynn could feel his mental strength increasing. Even though the symptoms of headaches occasionally appeared, he remained undeterred.
It was precisely because of this unremitting effort that his progress was so astonishing.
In two months, he had already broken through to become a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice.
Generally speaking, newcomers just entering the Crucible required about six months to become Level 1 Wizard Apprentices.
And the transition from Level 1 to Level 2 was an even longer process.
An ordinary person typically required one to three years to promote from a Level 1 to a Level 2 Wizard Apprentice.
As for Level 3 Wizard Apprentices, it was even more difficult; an ordinary person might need five to ten years to reach that level.
Of course, this was from the perspective of an ordinary person. As for geniuses, they naturally could not be judged by common logic.
For example, the genius girl from five years ago who was a frequent topic of conversation among many wizards in the Crucible.
That genius girl had been personally taken in as a student by the Lord of the Crucible, and her talent was extremely formidable.
When she first entered the Crucible, her mental strength already far exceeded that of a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice.
She reached Level 2 in just one month, broke through to Level 3 in less than half a year, and then successfully promoted to a formal Wizard within two years.
Having lived in the Crucible for over two months, Lynn had naturally heard the story of this genius girl.
He wasn't directly comparing himself to her.
After all, a student personally trained by the Lord of the Crucible possessed uniquely privileged resources.
While Lynn also had his own wizard mentor, he had to complete Crucible tasks to obtain resources, and those resources had to be exchanged through points.
It was unfair to compare the two directly.
Lynn was merely speculating his possible progress based on her breakthrough speed.
After all, if he could maintain his current pace, the time for his next breakthrough might not be too long.
The girl had taken less than half a year to promote from Level 2 to Level 3.
Based on this estimation, Lynn felt he would need approximately one year to reach Level 3.
He understood that as the realm increased, the time required for a breakthrough would naturally grow longer.
After all, the time required was relatively short when one had just stepped onto the path of wizardry.
But as cultivation increased, whether it was the learning of wizardry or the exploration of knowledge, more accumulation was required.
Every wizard's achievement was a dual accumulation of knowledge and power; relying solely on the accumulation of power was far from enough.
Even Bloodline Wizards needed to constantly increase their knowledge reserves to form their own permanent wizardry imprints and complete their wizardly achievements.
"Knowledge is power..." Lynn whispered to himself.
Just then, Remy tapped Lynn lightly and whispered a reminder
"Lady Sonia is here!"
The magic potion garden was controlled by several Great Wizards, with Level 3 Wizard Apprentices assisting in experiments or managing the vast garden.
Lynn knew that Sonia was not only a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice but also held a high status within this area.
Although Sonia had not yet reached the realm of a formal Wizard, she was already a Level 3 Apprentice and held quite important responsibilities.
Her time was extremely precious; her appearance in the magic potion garden meant she certainly had tasks or matters to handle.
Upon seeing Lynn, Sonia waved directly at him, signaling him to follow her out.
"Colin is looking for you."
"Sorry, I've been far too busy lately to guide you through the daily life of the wizard world."
Walking along the passage of the magic potion garden, Sonia's voice carried a hint of fatigue as she sighed.
Lynn noticed that Sonia's complexion was much dimmer than it had been two months ago; her originally radiant face looked somewhat haggard from exhaustion.
Lynn knew she wasn't making excuses; she was truly busy beyond measure.
"It's alright, Lady Sonia..."
"By the way, Lady Sonia, I have a question. The books say there is a certain relationship between wizardry and our mental strength, and it seems the total amount of mental strength can be measured..."
Having finally gained the opportunity to see Sonia, Lynn could not wait to ask all the questions he had accumulated over the past two months in one go.
"Hmm? That is indeed a thing. Usually, people only start researching such content after becoming Level 2 Wizard Apprentices..."
Sonia thought for a moment. Seeing how eager Lynn was to learn, she did not refuse but instead said
"If Lady Rosalind knew how studious you are, she would certainly be very pleased. As for what you mentioned—the total amount of mental strength and the relationship between mental strength and wizardry—the Crucible has specialized testing rooms. You have been working for two months and should have accumulated some points; you can go check it out during your time off."
The two chatted as they walked and soon exited the magic potion garden.
Just as they reached the exit, Lynn's "cheap" senior brother, Colin, was standing there waiting for him.
Without avoiding Sonia, Colin spoke directly
"The Crucible has gone to war with the outside world!"
