Chapter 19

"Riley Robert!"

Lynn's gaze locked firmly onto the man.

The man possessed long blonde hair and a slender build, and his appearance was indeed very similar to Russell's.

However, what made Lynn most alert was the heavy pressure radiating from Riley.

His heart stirred, and he judged without hesitation: the opponent was most likely a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice!

Despite this, Lynn showed no sign of panic.

Currently, he was in the core area of the Crucible, the territory of the Crucible Lord.

In this region, no one dared to cause trouble lightly.

Even a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice, or even a formal Wizard, would likely only be seeking their own destruction if they dared to stir up trouble here.

"Hmm? You've got quite a few channels, kid, to actually know my name."

Riley sneered, his eyes flashing with undisguised malice and killing intent.

If he weren't in such a special position at this moment, Lynn was certain that Riley would have struck immediately.

In fact, Lynn had realized Riley was targeting him the moment he received the transfer order from the Alchemy Department.

The war of the Crucible had temporarily prevented Riley from coming to find trouble with him, but Lynn knew the man was merely a time bomb that would eventually strike.

Encountering Riley in the core area was actually a good thing.

At least here, Riley could not easily act.

Furthermore, Lynn had finally met this enemy and learned his appearance and strength, allowing him to better defend himself in the future.

The two men's gazes clashed, and an oppressive atmosphere filled the air.

But Riley knew he could do nothing to Lynn here. After a cold laugh, he turned and left with the other two.

Lynn stood in place, watching their retreating backs. Although he felt some pressure, it wasn't overwhelming.

Even if the Crucible were in a time of peace, Riley likely wouldn't have had the chance to cause trouble for him in the Magic Potion Garden.

Moreover, they were currently in a state of war; a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice from the Alchemy Department like Riley would most likely be sent to the front lines.

On the battlefield, it was uncertain whether Riley would even survive.

"Still, it's better to be cautious."

Lynn thought calmly, his gaze becoming sharp.

Although he wasn't intimidated by the threat, he knew that he needed to quickly calculate the correlation between his mental strength and his sorcery to understand his true strength and establish a judgment of his own combat power.

Lynn waited quietly in the hall. The identity badge in his hand vibrated slightly, followed by a prompt: his reserved sorcery testing room was ready.

He rose and walked toward a basic sorcery testing room, pushed open the door, and stepped inside.

The door closed automatically with a "click," and the walls of the room glowed with a soft light.

The room was not spacious; the surrounding walls were covered in complex runes and ancient sorcery arrays.

In the center stood a mannequin, pitch black and shimmering with faint light.

Not far from the entrance stood a stone tablet emitting a faint glow, engraved with ancient characters.

"The strength of sorcery is directly related to the amount of mental strength released."

"The release of sorcery has a basic standard; mental strength must reach a minimum threshold to be activated. If this standard is exceeded, the additional mental strength will further enhance the power of the sorcery."

"The great ancient wizards long ago established a unified energy scale, known as a 'Degree'."

"The power of one Degree is equivalent to the total damage produced by activating one standard unit of Magic Fire Stone."

After reading the text on the stone tablet, Lynn was slightly stunned. Magic Fire Stone.

He remembered reading about Magic Fire Stone in books.

It was an extremely rare energy source stone. Although it was considered a type of magic stone, it originated from deep within volcanoes, absorbing the fire factors from magma, and had gradually transformed into its current form over long ages.

The specialty of Magic Fire Stone lay in the fact that once activated, it was like detonating a bomb, capable of producing terrifying damage.

Because of this, Magic Fire Stones were not only extremely precious but also carried intense danger; therefore, even though magic stones had trading attributes, few people used Magic Fire Stones for transactions.

Lynn took a deep breath, quietly contemplating this information.

"By attacking the mannequin with sorcery, the adjacent scale can quantify the power."

Lynn focused on the scale on the stone tablet, gradually understanding the function and usage of the sorcery testing room.

"I don't have many methods of attack. Low-level, zero-circle sorceries like Daze and Breath-Holding are basically incapable of causing much damage..."

The essence of sorcery was that wizards used their mental strength to draw upon the energy factors between heaven and earth, thereby releasing sorcery to form a terrifying power.

Mental strength acted like a lever; wizards used this lever to pry the energy hidden between heaven and earth, thereby unleashing powerful force.

Pure mental strength release often struggled to cause fatal damage unless one had practiced certain special sorceries.

And zero-circle sorceries like Daze clearly did not fall into that category.

"In seven days, I have only reached the introductory stage of Fireball; Frost Arrow is still locked..."

Lynn frowned slightly, contemplating his current situation.

"In that case, I'll use Fireball for the test first."

He took a deep breath and concentrated his mind. The mental strength accumulating in his body was like a surging torrent, eager to be released.

Within Lynn's mental domain, there were intense energy fluctuations.

In addition to that overflowing mental strength, he could also clearly sense a warm presence.

It was a life seed—specifically, the Yggdrasil that his teacher, Rosalind, had given him.

Now, this seed had undergone a subtle change. Perhaps due to Lynn's continuous nourishment, it had gradually become full, emitting wisps of life aura as if it had its own pulse.

The Yggdrasil was located at the very center of his mental domain, like a brilliant heart.

With its own existence as the center, it attracted the surrounding mental strength, firmly locking down eighty percent of the energy in Lynn's mental domain.

Consequently, Lynn could only use the remaining twenty percent of his mental strength to cast sorcery.

While limited, this was enough for him to attempt some basic sorcery releases.

"At least I don't have to worry about fainting from overusing my mental strength, haha..."

Lynn mocked himself, feeling the dominance of the Yggdrasil.

"I hope the release conditions for Fireball can be met with this limited mental strength."

Lynn took another deep breath, concentrated his mind, and rapidly mobilized the remaining twenty percent of his mental strength.

Following the casting method of Fireball, he began to resonate with the fire element factors between heaven and earth.

Instantly, an invisible bridge was built between Lynn's consciousness and the external energy. As if sensing the call, the fire elements began to converge.

At the same time, Lynn's lips moved slightly as he whispered some unique words.

This was not the language used in daily communication, but rather Wizard Script.

Unlike ordinary languages, pronouncing a single word in Wizard Script required the consumption of a certain amount of mental strength.

Because of this, even wizards rarely used Wizard Script in daily communication, opting for ordinary languages instead.

Wizard Script was a phonetic script; every word was formed by a combination of twenty-four meditation runes closely related to mental strength.

Therefore, every time a word was uttered, one had to interact with those meditation runes, which was quite mentally taxing.

At this moment, Lynn whispered several somewhat unpracticed words—though his Wizard Script was not fluent, it was sufficient to form the incantation for the Fireball spell.
