Chapter 57
Time passed, and several days had gone by since Lynn became an apprentice potion maker. He had grown accustomed to this rhythm of life—plain but leisurely, perfectly suited for his development.
In the early morning, Lynn would arrive at his workstation as usual. Sitting there, he would brew a cup of sweet milk tea and gaze at the distant scenery through the window before beginning his day of drudgery.
"Good morning, Lynn."
"You're the first one here again today, Lynn."
The other apprentices in the project group entered one after another, greeting Lynn.
Lynn returned the greetings with a smile.
Although their relationships might only amount to mere acquaintances, it was certainly better than maintaining a cold face and being a stranger to everyone.
On his desk lay several books of supernatural knowledge he urgently needed to study
*Basic Cultivation of Alchemy*, *Turning Stone to Gold: The Great Path*, *A Complete Guide to Potions*, and so on.
Studying alchemy would help him more accurately analyze and identify magical items within spatial props, while potion studies were the field where he most urgently needed to improve.
In addition to these, there was content regarding sorcery.
Sipping his milk tea, Lynn flipped through the heavy book in his hands—*The Encyclopedia of Zero-Circle Sorcery*.
Although the book was detailed, it did not encompass complete zero-circle sorcery, providing only brief introductions.
If he wanted to obtain complete sorcery models, he would need to purchase them separately.
However, this did not stop Lynn from drawing inspiration from it to gradually refine his own sorcery system.
Every mature wizard possessed a unique sorcery system, covering multiple fields such as combat, defense, exploration, and divination.
Although Lynn's mental strength was currently limited, making it difficult to unleash multiple spells in a short period, this did not prevent him from planning and constructing his own sorcery system.
"Right now, I only master five spells. Those two basic zero-circle spells are basically negligible; the only ones truly usable are three intermediate zero-circle spells, and they are all offensive..."
Lynn muttered softly to himself, his brow furrowing slightly.
In his ideal sorcery system, every aspect—attack, defense, exploration, etc.—would require at least one spell to ensure he could cope with various situations.
Although Lynn had been forced to participate in the Furnace War previously, it was precisely because he had been on the front lines that he gained a profound understanding of how to construct a more efficient and practical sorcery system.
Constructing a sorcery system was not something that could be achieved overnight; there were many intricacies involved.
Furthermore, every person's combat style and needs were different; such a personalized system could only be summarized through continuous practice, and no one else could do it for him.
For Lynn, in addition to the essential offensive and defensive spells, he also needed the following categories
Spells for concealing his form, spells for detecting enemy tracks, escape spells for rapid retreat, and grappling or control spells for dealing with powerful enemies, among others.
Most importantly, Lynn realized he had to master a "Soul Searching" type of sorcery.
Only then, after capturing an enemy, could he directly read their soul to obtain critical information.
As Lynn roughly outlined his requirements, he ended up listing more than ten different spells.
The sheer number made his scalp tingle.
The price of a single sorcery model was already quite high; the cost of more than ten models would be quite precious.
"Refining potions requires points, and buying sorcery models also requires points. Money, indeed, is an eternal problem..." Lynn shook his head and sighed.
Although he had earned a considerable amount of points through his clever "shearing the Furnace's wool" strategy, these savings were far from enough to support him in freely purchasing expensive supernatural knowledge and rapidly increasing his strength.
In the world of wizards, knowledge is power, and the price of power is expensive and inevitable.
"I must find another way to open up new avenues for earning points..."
Just as Lynn was lost in thought, Land, the management apprentice in charge of the "Overnight Spring" project, walked in.
Land was a third-level wizard apprentice responsible for assigning tasks within the project group.
"Everyone, I have some rather bad news to tell you."
Land's tone was somewhat helpless.
"Starting from today, the number of daily tasks will double."
"What!?"
"Lord Land, what on earth is going on!"
"You can't be serious, Lord Land! The task load already increased because of the war; how can it double again now?"
"Yeah, our mental strength can't handle this at all!"
Upon hearing this, many apprentices immediately began to complain, their grievances rising one after another.
"Silence, everyone!" Land's voice was steady and carried authority.
"This is not an issue with our project group. As far as I know, the task requirements for all remaining personnel in the entire Potion Garden, even the entire Furnace—including the Potion Department—have doubled."
He coughed twice and explained slowly that this was not a special circumstance for a single group, but a unified adjustment for the entire Furnace.
Hearing this, Lynn frowned slightly, a hint of doubt rising in his heart.
The task requirements had already been increased due to the Furnace War; to increase them again now? This was clearly unusual.
The task burden had already exceeded the apprentices' limits. It wasn't that they were unwilling to cooperate, but rather that the Furnace's demands had become somewhat too harsh.
As the core territory of the fourth-level Morning Star Wizards, the Furnace had always been known for its stability. How could such a situation arise?
"Could the war situation have deteriorated to the point where the Furnace must operate at overcapacity? But that seems unlikely; it's just a few third-level factions..."
Lynn speculated privately, but limited by the information available, he could only make rough guesses.
Although the apprentices present were full of complaints, they all understood that grumbling was useless.
After all, even Lord Land's workload had doubled.
As apprentices of the Furnace, completing tasks was their primary responsibility.
Lynn's gaze swept across the room, looking at his "coworkers" with their long faces, and he casually flipped through his own task list.
However, after doing some quick calculations, he soon discovered that these tasks would have almost no impact on him.
Forget doubling; even if they increased several times over, he could handle it easily.
Lynn possessed an absolute potion refinement success rate, achieving a perfect result every single time, which gave him an advantage that other apprentices could not match.
In contrast, although other apprentices were experienced, their success rates were unstable.
To refine a single bottle of potion, they often had to attempt it several times, wasting a large amount of mental strength and resulting in low efficiency.
"The changes in the Furnace won't affect me for the time being. It seems I'm quite lucky."
Lynn felt a secret sense of relief, but soon, he became alert again.
He had always kept the words "prepare for danger in times of peace" in mind.
He thought to himself that he must find an opportunity as soon as possible to investigate the changes occurring in the Furnace to prevent any unforeseen accidents.
"Stop complaining, everyone," Land broke the silence, distributing today's resources.
"Start refining your potions early. If you recover your mental strength faster, perhaps you can even finish your tasks ahead of schedule."
This dry joke did not lighten the atmosphere; the crowd merely accepted today's doubled resources and tasks with resignation.
However, when Lynn looked at the mountain of materials piled on his desk, his eyes suddenly lit up.
"Originally, I could shear ten fleeces a day. Now that the tasks have doubled, doesn't that mean I can shear twenty!"
At this thought, Lynn actually felt a surge of excitement.
Suppressing a smile, he thought to himself: *Let the tasks come even more fiercely!*
