Chapter 30

"The wraith's power is close to four degrees... Not bad, looks like it might be a bit tricky."

Lynn quickly assessed the power of the opponent's witchcraft through the crystal ball, a faint smile curling at the corners of his mouth.

He showed no sign of panic, lightly brushing the Heart of Flower Language hanging around his neck.

Guided by his mental strength, the special pendant bloomed with bursts of vibrant, life-filled radiance. Petals rapidly formed, weaving an airtight barrier in front of Lynn.

"Boom!"

The wraith's breath slammed into the barrier of the Heart of Flower Language, and the black aura of negative energy was completely neutralized and dissipated.

As Lynn became increasingly familiar with the Heart of Flower Language, he was now able to precisely control this magical item to form a defensive wall, rather than merely creating a large cocoon to completely envelop himself as he had in the beginning.

At this moment, by condensing a barrier through the Heart of Flower Language, Lynn easily neutralized the opponent's magical attack.

Once released, the accumulated energy of the Heart of Flower Language could provide a defensive capability of up to fifty degrees, but it required a certain cooldown period after each use.

Just now, he had only used a small fraction of its energy to easily defuse the attack from that apprentice wizard.

"Damn it! It's a magical item!"

The face of the Level 2 apprentice wizard opposite him darkened, but he did not stop, already beginning to chant the incantation for his next spell.

"Phantom Arrow!"

An illusory long arrow suddenly condensed in the sky, emitting a faint fluctuation as it firmly locked onto Lynn's figure before shooting out at high speed.

"About two degrees of power."

Lynn glanced at the energy fluctuations of the Phantom Arrow and made a quick judgment, yet he remained standing in place without dodging.

As the arrow flew toward him, he once again activated the Heart of Flower Language. Flowers bloomed one after another, and a barrier emerged, intercepting the Phantom Arrow without suspense and turning it into nothingness.

"A magical item can be continuously activated?!"

The expression of the Nightshade Bunker apprentice became increasingly unsightly. He realized that he had likely encountered a "big spender" from the Forge.

The opponent's magical item was clearly of a high level, and Lynn's attitude of only defending and never attacking gave him a profound sense of humiliation, as if he were being toyed with.

With both attacks easily neutralized, the sense of frustration in the apprentice's heart grew stronger.

He could feel his mental strength depleting rapidly; he now only had enough power left to cast one final spell.

Furthermore, this battle had lacked any semblance of tactics from start to finish; his attacks simply could not break through the opponent's seemingly simple "turtle shell."

"Keep going..."

Lynn's voice drifted over lightly, carrying a hint of calm and even a trace of composure.

Lynn had no intention of rushing to counterattack. He knew well that his opponent at this moment was merely a Level 2 apprentice from the Nightshade Bunker, providing him with a perfect opportunity for safe combat practice.

The resilient defense of the Heart of Flower Language rendered him almost invincible, allowing him to observe the opponent's spellcasting techniques and rhythm without distraction.

After all, Lynn was currently in the middle of a battlefield; he had to seize every opportunity to quickly familiarize himself with the combat techniques and rhythms of wizards.

"My magical item has lost its effectiveness. If you won't come to me, then I'll come to you."

A flash of white teeth appeared beneath Lynn's hood. His tone was relaxed, yet his words were laced with heavy mockery.

Hearing this, the Level 2 apprentice's eyes suddenly turned fierce, and he laughed out of pure rage

"Death Entanglement!"

Before his voice had even faded, a dense surge of negative energy rapidly gathered around Lynn, forming a pitch-black vortex barrier.

Within the barrier, pale, rotting corpse arms slowly reached out, carrying a suffocating scent of decay as they clawed toward Lynn.

"Nearly six degrees of power. It seems you've given it your all."

Lynn smiled slightly. "In that case, it's time I sent you on your way."

Flowers bloomed around him once more, and the fragrant mist they formed created a barrier that easily blocked all attacks.

All of this had been within Lynn's control. Even before activating the Heart of Flower Language, he had already silently chanted the incantation for the Ice Arrow.

"Swish—"

Accompanied by the sound of breaking air, a slender Ice Arrow suddenly condensed mid-air, its cold light pointing directly at the Level 2 apprentice's chest.

The opponent had just exhausted his strength to cast Death Entanglement, and his mental strength was near exhaustion; he was utterly powerless to defend against the Ice Arrow.

"Boom!"

The moment the Ice Arrow struck the target, a layer of frost rapidly spread, freezing the apprentice into an ice sculpture.

In the next instant, the ice sculpture shattered, exploding into a sky of ice shards that scattered throughout the forest.

Lynn flicked his sleeve and muttered to himself

"Relying on the Heart of Flower Language, I can practically crush a Level 2 apprentice. I just need to attack with a spell that has a shorter wind-up time while the opponent is casting. After all, my Heart of Flower Language can tank their attacks..."

Some people worship their own strength and are unwilling to entrust the safety of their lives to external objects.

They firmly believe that only by relying on their own power can they solve all problems with witchcraft.

But Lynn was clearly not that kind of person.

Firstly, his mental strength was naturally limited; using external tools was the best way to increase combat power and was the key to his survival on the battlefield.

Secondly, Lynn always believed that the greatest difference between humans and animals lay in the ability to discover, create, and utilize tools.

Moreover, as the pinnacle of human intelligence: if the high and mighty Great Wizards could not be adept at utilizing all resources and means to solve problems, how would they differ from knights with well-developed limbs who only know how to swing swords and kill?

The reason wizards are called a "brain-using profession" is precisely because they know how to integrate tools with wisdom to turn the impossible into the possible.

In Lynn's view, those who were stubborn about "personal strength" were somewhat pedantic.

The true meaning of witchcraft was not just to pursue power, but to master that power and make the world serve one's own purposes.

Lynn quickly summarized the key points of this battle in his mind and turned his gaze toward the other two battlefields.

Lynn knew that his active defense to stall for time was intended to learn the opponent's combat rhythm, but it had also consumed a significant amount of time.

By now, the outcome of the battle was almost decided.

Relying on her absolute strength, Sonia had taken on two opponents at once, completely eliminating them, and then quickly moved to support Colin, helping him finish off the last Level 3 apprentice wizard.

After the battle ended, Sonia frowned slightly and reached up to rub her brow.

Her mental strength had clearly been overextended, and her face was somewhat pale.

In contrast, Lynn and Colin appeared much more relaxed, having used only about twenty percent of their total mental strength.

After all, they couldn't use the remaining eighty percent even if they wanted to; unless they were prepared to risk their lives, they would fall into a state of negative side effects for several days after activating the Life Seed.

After clearing the battlefield, the three of them scavenged the enemies, taking whatever useful items they could find, and then did not linger. Relying on the Forge's sensing methods, they gradually approached the main force.
